its gonna be a good looking game, but people's expectations are (or were) set too high i think. also not being in the cool jungle environment and being dragged back into the city might add to some people's disappointment but im hyped

are there any early impressions of how the ps3 version is comparing to 360 in terms of visuals and performance?

I think its alot more exciting to see Crytek move away from the jungle. I think they've done everything they can with that setting after 2 games and an expansion. Hopefully they nail it with the iconic locales in NY.

Based off Crysis 1, which wasn't all jungle, I have a feeling there could be some other environments besides the city, like drastically different... at least I hope so.

Well, I personally don't see anything wrong with people wanting to pin Crytek to the ground for over promising, and delivering a sub-hd basic deferred rendered engine on consoles while scaling back their original title to be on par with the console versions. Nothing at all.

Gaming is a hobby, and we are like sports fans. But for some reason its frowned upon to call a spade a spade with the excuse of fun rules all. I agree that gameplay rules all, but don't ignore the boasting & short comings of these guys to save face when facing a debate. Visuals & Performance is what generated hype for C2 in the first place. I doubt crytek could be found quoted once claiming their gameplay is so polished and perfectly balanced, or anything of the sort. More proof is that Crysis critically in the console world -- didn't have noteworthy gameplay, and most console boys threw it under the bus for that reason. All show & no go.. Rumors of needing to invest 10,000 dollars on a computer to play it, why would I do that when I want to play on my couch...etc... now yes, clearly no one played it who was talking trash, as the game had a level of diversity and scale that is rarely seen. But its visuals were the lure.

Crytek talked a whole lot of shit about how their console engine was superior to Sony's efforts specifically -- for the past generation. The titles they claimed to best, get nitpicked to high heaven so theres really no reason the same can't be done here. People saying its not on par with Sony's efforts, in console land, are correct. No more so than Vanquish, which looked great. I think its the first time this type of engine has been exposed to the 360 in a large hype-worthy scale. Which is why theres a ton of eyebrows raised. But comparing it to the titles Crytek singled out, it falls short on consoles, and definitely falls short to itself, Crysis1. Comparing crysis2 to the unreal engine, yes I can see the awe. But not to Sony's usual suspects. Which is what I was personally expecting.

They did a good job, and I hope that this engine is used more so than the unreal engine, I just think that engine has a look & feel that the Crytek one doesn't. Feels fresh, and theres potential.

I'm waiting on this too. Seems like a couple of 360 copies leaked through and people got their hands on them, but nothing so far on PS3. I guess I'll have to wait till Tuesday for the DF/LoT comparisons.

I leave for a bit and I'm smeared eh. I guess I should be as sharp as some people here and just start swearing and coming off as a prick. It's hard to make any conclusions of these youtube videos so pardon my skepticisms.

For the record, I'm on the PC side of things and such but can only judge based on crap examples.

Some of you people need to understand that discussion can happen without being condescending or offensive to others.

If you're interested in educating him of these apparent refutations of his personal opinion, feel free to link him to them instead of talking down to him.

WOW...after watching some youtube videos of 360 footage, I have to say I'm amazed at what they pulled off on console graphically. This is the first mutli-platform game I've seen on par with Sony's first party.

Nailed it.

There are a bunch of rude Juniors in this latest batch.

You don't have to be an asshole in order to get attention on NeoGAF. You just have to be able to state your opinions clearly.

Welcome to GAF, right?

:Smh:

Supposedly the SP framerate on 360 goes to the dogs in the later parts of the game. PS3 right from the start.

Judging from those videos the 360 version looks very nice. Definitely one of the best looking multiplatform games. If the IQ and framerate is that inconsistent, there is a lot of wasted potential though. I don't see the benefit. The engine could have used a few more months on all platforms.

Also it's understandable that PC and PS3 gamers are pissed. MAXIMUM CEILING!

For their first attempt on consoles it looks pretty solid so far. I remember when unreal 3 first debuted on 360 it had some major problems. Even Gears had a ton of pop-in and Mass Effect 1 was a technical mess (although i assume its more of Bioware's fault there). The fact that Crysis 2 looks pretty solid is encouraging for future efforts with CE3.

Gonna go ahead and get the 360 version, then pick it up cheap on the PC on steam or something.

Ill wait a day or two to see some comparisons between the 360 and ps3 versions, but i much prefer the 360 pad for fps games.

People need to give some feedback on what the game is like on the hardest difficulty. If this game really utilizes some decent AI and such or is it a BLOPS type of deal?

I agree. I know they had already delayed the game from last holiday season but I think a couple more months in the oven would have really helped. At the very least they could have released the PC and delayed the console versions.

Or worse case scenario (at least to me ;) ) delay the PS3 version another month or two. Of course that probably wouldn't be too feasible for them financially. They'll get maximum impact by releasing all three versions now.

Well Crytek always had Halo in mind as a goal to beat with Crysis 2 so hopefully this shows up in terms of sweet enemy AI to fight.

Wow, that looks pretty good. Do we know what kind of game types are offered?
from what i have read the are 6
team instant action (TDM)
instant action (FFA)
capture the relay (capture the flag)
assault (one team spawns with no nano suits and all guns avalible, the other one gets nano suits but only pistols, iirc no respawns in this one)
crash site (that pod thingy)
extraction (no idea, sounds like some sort of escort thingy)

This is going to be extremely popular.

the team with nano suits also has to place some bombs, or capture something, not sure, basicly there is an objective beyond "kill everything"

and the no respwan might depend on the game rules

short video of it here:

My first reaction was being bummed out by that but I guess it's good to have an objective like that, to create a sense of focus and deter camping.

I'd like the free copy of Crysis 1 from the EA store, but I'm assuming that I can't activate 1 or 2 on Steam? If so, I'll just have to go with the Steam version.
