Crysis 3 Open Beta starting Jan 29th

I know, thats why I am building a new one tomorrow, but this game is insane. All other games are playable.

I don't think it's that insane. That CPU would have issues with a few other PC exclusive games too. It's not much better (if at all) than my AMD I have...

I can't quite put my finger on it, but does aiming feel sloppy and sluggish to anyone on PC? I swear I'm going crazy but it just doesn't feel comfortable aiming anything so far.

Hunter mode is pretty great, kinda wish it was paced to be a little longer with slightly bigger maps. I feel the rounds end way to quickly, I wanna play more damn it!

Have you played Guild Wars 2 or Planetside 2? Both very CPU-heavy games.

This was happening to me, but I fixed it.
I put everything on Highest except for shadows and shaders and I never dip below 58 FPS. Seems like the control is FPS bound or something, but as long as you get above 50, you should notice improvement or no problem at all.

Also try some of These

input lag is present

Is something wrong with my PC. I know my old build is pretty crap by todays standards, but damn, set everything to low, resolution to 1280x720 and can barely get 15fps. I play most new games at medium and get good framerate ;_;. Oh well 1 more day then I can play!

E8400, gtx560, 4gb ram.
Nvidia

I've settled on mostly Medium settings now with no AA, textures and objects on Very High. V-sync turned off gets me anywhere from 60-85fps on my GTX 560ti with a few drops down to 40 or so.

Now I've stopped trying to run the thing at High/Very High (which is pointless because even Low is gorgeous), I'm having a lot of fun! My interest has gone from pretty much zero to a guaranteed purchase.

Most definitely your CPU.

Great game.

Awesome pics maldo. I fully agree!

Also, would you happen to know why I get a lisght in game studdering with everything to set to very high? I have two 570s and I know the 1.3 GB of VRAM is probably not enough but I get about 60-70 fps with everything on very high but with slight studders if I turn some times or if someone suddenly shoots at me from a very close distance. Perhaps it is just Very High Textures is just enough VRAM for most of teh time, but when a new texture is spawned it overgoes my limit and I get texture seeking from my SSD.

I was just curious what your VRAM usage is on very high and which settings beyond textures would be most VRAM intensive.

I have 1,5 gb vram and no stutters at all. Try lowering one by one the presets to find the problem. Then look into console with "sys_spec_xxxx ?" (where xxxx is the preset that causes your stutter), and try commands one by one (if unlocked).

What are the most demanding settings? I have everything on Very High but I want 60fps all the time, I don't like the variable frame rate.

I have a GTX 680 + i5 3570k

You can turn it off with r_ChromaticAberration = 0

Are there more settings than these to get the best/clearest IQ experience?

Via menu:

- Motion blur off
- Lens flares off

Via console:

r_chromaticaberration = 0
r_colorgrading = 0

Additional FOV settings (set all to same value):

cl_fov (overall FOV)
pl_movement.power_sprint_targetfov (sprinting FOV)
r_DrawNearFov (sprinting FOV?)

I just realised that there are two maps in the beta... I spend so long looking at the stats screen post game that after every match I failed to see that people were voting on the next map. And for some reason, Museum got picked every time...

I still find Hunter to be a bit boring considering that the most efficient way to 'win' as Cell is to hide and do nothing for 2 minutes but Crash Site is a blast and I love the changes to the suit. Having unlimited sprint and Jump gives you so many more options in a fight.

The mouse lag feels awful, unplayably so for me which is a shame because I actually felt like there is a decent MP game hidden in there. Hoping they fix it in the beta.

I've tried with v-synch on and off, everything on high and low settings, at 720p (60fps+) and 1080p (45-60fps), all of that and still no difference.

I've made a comparison between PS3 version and PC low settings 720p with SMAA 1x and 4x anizo.

I was quite surprised by quality of low resolution textures setting, they still very good. Also water real time reflections are in by default even on Low and thats a change, because in Alpha on Water Low setting they were off.

You also have to disable mouse acceleration and smoothing. There's an ini command somewhere.

Decided to give the beta a run on my laptop and it ran pretty well with maximum settings on everything at 1680x1050.

I decided though to put in on lowest and it still looked great and ran really smooth. Can't believe now how piss poor the console versions look. You can use an X360 controller on the PC just plug and play.

I don't understand some developers still don't always use raw mouse input by default. (no smoothing, acceleration, aim-assist, etc.)

So I think the PS3 has worse resolution and AF, but I don't think it's a huge difference between the console versions

Is 'low' settings every single setting turned to off and/or low?

edit : missed the screenshot with the settings.

Well I thought that the "low" PC setting would be equal to the PS360 versions and....It's higher than that.

Astonishing. :D Good job Crytek.

That should also clear up confusion that Crysis 3 was made with consoles in mind.

PC version is a gen ahead.

Sweet. Lens Flare off, Shadows on High instead of Very High, SMAAx2, pretty much 60fps with some, rare weird dips into medium 50s on my overclocked 660ti. Only with an i7 920 at stock speeds! 1680x1050. Fucking hate that huge ass gun like in Crysis 2 though. I'm playing without the red dot sight scope so the gun doesn't take up the whole screen.

cl_fov 80

I think they capped it to 80 because I tried 90 yet the variable remained at 80. Default is 55 I believe.

Makes no difference, I'm playing at 80 and the gun takes as much of the screen as at 55. Edit: I'm assuming cl_fov is the same setting as the in-game FoV setting.

I knew something was off. Felt like I couldn't manage and compensate for the recoil at all. Aiming felt perfectly fine in the Alpha. Wonder what changed so much between then and now? Feels like sometimes I have to put the gun in to their chest to make sure I can hit anything.

it feels like theres mouse smoothing or leftover controller acceleration.

3770k with 670gtx
i can leave everything maxed with no vsync and AA i get 70-85fps average. vsync strangely drops the framerate quite a bit. FXAA seems to be broken completely as it does nothing and some of the other options leave strange artifacts. smaa looks solid but creates random frame dips.

hopefully the final drivers and game build are extra polished.

Not having input problems like most but I spent about 10 minutes setting up before I really played controls and graphic settings were off.

r_motionblurshutterspeed - good tweak for the blur effect I like it lower than default
r_ssao - still good for frames lower that if you need it
r_multigpu - Don't leave this at 2 unless you're going sli
cl_zoomToggle - had to turn this on
cl_crouchtoggle - had to turn this off

Whoever else is pimping the fov commands do so it's unfair for peopel people to be stuck at the default 55 for 2 of the values and 60 for another. Only thing crap about fov is it still limited to 80.

I'm surprised a lot of stuff is still in or still borked a little for average users.

Also crysis 2 and now 3 hates max prerendered frames in your gpu settings most of the time if it's above 1 or 0. Try and go for the lowest without hitting your fps too badly. Do this or suffer.

Finding the console version of this incredibly average, so far so Crysis2... and after the abomination of an ending section in Crysis 2 I can safely say I have no interest in another Crysis campaign.

Whaaaat. SMAA creates random drops? Then that's why I get random dips into the 50s. What AA are you using then? My 660ti should be near a stock 670 because of the overclocking so if I change AA I might just get rid of those drops.

First multiplayer FPS I've tried let alone enjoyed in years. Maybe I'll buy it? Seems pretty damn fun even though I get trounced usually. I'm getting better at M+KB control.

Also getting a nice 60FPS on my 660Ti with mostly High settings + 2xSMAA. edit: yeah Vsync occasionally drops the framerate or cuts it in half suddenly if my settings are too high. Usually need to disable AA or turn off Vsync which causes tearing for me.

Judging by Crysis 2... Shouldn't whoever is in that suit be smelly?

The suit is housing a rotting corpse

Maybe they'll release an Ultimate Collector's Edition on PS4 because there is no way I'm buying this on current gen consoles. Gross.

Grenades still look choppy when you throw them. Something is just slightly off about the underlying structure of the netcode. The grenade sound also lacks a punch and the explosion effects in multiplayer are pretty terrible and seem to lower the frame rate. A lot of talk about grenades, but I've been playing black ops 2 a bit lately and they execute that part of the game flawlessly. Even if the engine is archaic, the grenades still look and sound like they're exploding. I've also noticed my fps go down right next to the crash site thing when action is going on. Besides that I get a solid 60 fps with my current settings, but the drops are frustrating considering my pc still has some power to it.

And why do they still have that "beeeep!!!!" when you die? Sounds like Pavlovian conditioning to make you try really not hard to die because it's so annoying, although it's not as loud as it was in Crysis 2 (I couldn't even wear headphones in that game).
