I'm sitting here watching Thirteen Days, which is actually a good movie, and could you imagine how brutal it would have been on JFK to have to deal with the Cuban Missile Crisis with todays press circulation? with the internet, live tv, cable news, etc? it'd be brutal.

he may have made the same decision, but it would have been sooo much harder to keep the story under wraps, ya know? every single troop moving to florida would have had it out in blogs, every pilot that was commencing flight operations would have been on CNN or Fox. definitely far, far trickier.

Well, one of the media's taks is to be a watch dog and monitor the government so they'd only be doing there jobs.

Man, the bay of pigs, that sure was a big screw-up wasn't it?

but the tricky stuff was the negotiations (WE GAVE UP SOKOLOV! :D )
soldiers know when to keep their mouths shut but good. they wouldnt have time anyway, they would be preparing for an operation and such....

this is just too gosh darn kooky to be coinky dink!

I was just watching "Fidel"

Thirteen Days was a pretty interesting movie, even if Costner could get his accent and the friggin Kennedy's couldn't

A few times I've thought a series or movie or something along lines like that could be interesting. Generally sticking historical events into today's world. Say the Louisiana Purchase being debated by pundits on 24 hour news channels, or MTV composed primarily of big band music. Things like that.
