Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Currently Has No Plans For PS5, Xbox Series X Versions

Trust me on this. Cyberpunk 2077 will have ALL of it's maximum features and looks on the PC -- which is what they are working on. The consoles are an afterthought. When they port to PS5/XSX, they'll get some of the features of the PC version.

Of course they would say that now, simply tune every setting to the maximum for PC version then it will be the next gen console version.

In fact 50%+ of games released this year will probably get a next gen release. Its alright people thinking about BC but why release a BC patch when they can do an actual release for money?.

I think they may do both, maybe the latter could be a next gen remaster and/or a paid DLC remaster patch (they would be quite smart if they got that over users like on PC hehe).
Doing a proper next generation version would cost money, it is not free and made by unicorns as it seems in all those cross-generation games heaven threads, and studios want money for them.

Of course not, buy the PS4/xbox edition and wait a few months till their plan changes....

I honestly would just wait for a PS5 / XSEX version at this point....
Well or get a PC version that's cheaper "day -365". I got my copy last year pre-ordered for 20 bucks if I remember correctly. And it will anyways be cheaper by probably 10-20 bucks day1.

That version you can also still play in 5-10 years at 16k on your next beast PC. With mods etc.

This christmas I got myself a PC with 32GB of ram, RX570 8GB and a ryzen 2700x for 400 bucks new. In a year or two I'll upgrade the GPU for cheap. Got myself a refurbished HP 22" 1080p IPS screen for 20 bucks.

Buy 20 games a gen and your PC is basically for free since you save 20 bucks on PC versions.

They will patch their game.
And it will be a good patch.
They did it with Witcher 3 which was an « old » game when they did it for the X.
They are too serious about their games and it makes sense to do it quickly after the release of next gen hardware.

They'll have a next-gen version at some point in 2021, give it 6 months before. But then, if the PS5 is BC to PS4 (we know the new Xbox will play all games back to the Xbox) then i can see a patch coming to enhance it for the new machines.

This is definitely a misdirection if not an outright lie. Maybe bluepoint or some studio like that is making the PS5 and XSeX version of Cyberpunks but there will be a version coming for them.

Yeah... and Game Freak said they had no plans to add more Pokemon into Sword and Shield....

If a developer actually stuck to their words in this case, CDProject Red (Btw, love these guys), then I would eat my foot.

Of note: I have the CE preorder for PS4. I won't be buying it a second time since the PS5 will be BC.

This could just mean they have no plans for a separate SKU, but rather an upgrade patch like TW3 on the Pro/X1X.

On a side note, which do some of you think will be the first pub/dev to resell a "PS5/XSX" version of a game that is BC and could just be patched?

Bethesda get's my bet, followed by Activision.

I'm guessing the next gen ports will be fairly straight forward, slightly tuned versions of the higher-end PC experience (if the specs of the machines we have now are to be trusted).

I don't see it being as resource intensive as getting the game to run on, for instance, a last gen machine. The question is, when will it come? I doubt it'll be a launch title for the new systems, though. They want potential double dippers and people to NOT WAIT until they can afford a next gen system to dive in.

Hard for me to believe anyone would release a big current gen game that close to next gen launching, and not have either a straight next gen offering of the same game when next gen launches, or at least tons of promotional material about it being enhanced on next gen and playable on both. My money is it will be a launch game, as in also sold as a direct PS5 / X game.

With it coming out so late I'm not gonna bother until the inevitable next gen version comes out. Doesn't make sense now.

CDPR will most likely be at Microsoft's E3 showcase and im expecting an Xbox Series X version ready for launch with the current gen consoles being released in September. It won't hurt sales at all because only those who are actually buying a next gen console would cancel their current gen pre-order and switch it to next gen. Those who wait until say 2021 would still be buying it regardless.

I would much rather play on next gen hardware as opposed to current gen hardware. Either way, game is only being bought and played once. Prefer next gen but if not, okay.

I don't know why CD Projeck Red doesn't just come out straight with their consumers. The developers is one of the most beloved ones around. But they did say the same thing with the Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, that they weren't going to release a patch for the PS4 Pro or XB1X, and then later did just that.

I'm guessing potentially cancelled pre-orders is a concern. Much less concern once multiple sku's are announced to transfer pre-orders to.

Another possibility - there could be ongoing talks with a company or two over cross-branding with a console (I forget the exact term) in commercials, marketing, etc. I doubt there's a realistic chance of going full blown exclusive, but I could definitely see MS or Sony, especially MS, lay out a few bucks to tie the names together in marketing. I could also see them lay out money for an exclusive feature, mission set, weapon / skin sets, etc. A few month delay would probably be perfect amount of time to finish off next gen plans and add a couple exclusives for anyone willing to pay I would guess.

What else are they going to say at this point? If they would admit that the PS4/XB0 version will actually just butchered ports, they would alienate 160+ million potential customers. They are not going to say anything like that. Basic marketing.

Exactly.

My guess is it will hit PS5/XSX about a year or so later with ray tracing and better quality assets. From a business standpoint, there's absolutely no reason for them to come right out and tell us that.

At this point I don't know which is more annoying, CDPR continually lying, or its fan base continually making excuses for them.

Lying is lying, folks. I'm just fed up with this developer's bullshit.

They will sell a new version for next-gen in 2021.

While I wouldn't go as far as the bold, I agree with the sentiment.

Who are they trying to fool with this? They want people's money twice. It's straight out of the Rockstar playbook.

I can honestly see CDPR releasing a BC Enhancement Patch for PS5 and XSX on launch day in Holiday 2020 to bump up resolution, frame rate and loading times (maybe Ray Tracing too but probably not), then in 2021 they will release a specific Next Gen Release filled with some exclusive content to entice fans to make the purchase, and if a fan already has a physical copy of the PS4 version then they can get the new content via a purchasable upgrade from the PS Store/Microsoft Storefront.
