They also kind of implied that he might be appearing more so maybe he'll end up in a Bakalar style rotating chair. He can be a bit much on social media but Danny is usually a decent listen and it was the first Bombcast I've listened to all the way through in ages. It would be cool if the Beastcast were to get something similar set up with Dan but with his streams, his own podcast and his podcast job I doubt he'd be up for it.

Yeah Danny is too preachy on social media but more of a normal guy on the Bombcast. His industry insight from the docs is also good.

You realise that Dan is going to be linked to GB for as long as he keeps streaming games?

It took Patrick years to lose his association and he wasn't a full on streamer like Dan.

Can we really not talk about GB at all here? Without that this thread is just Dan's Twitter stream (7 posts in a row!) and there's a lot to talk about with GB.

Because people can't behave. The GB thread degraded into ad hominems including but not limited to Abby's body parts, Jeff's spatial dimensions and Jason's diabetes. If you want to have a "discussion" like this, there's 4chan (This is not sarcasm, I am serious; I think they've gone through every insult possible when it comes to each member of GB.)

how do you not talk about giant bomb in a thread about someone whose immediate associations are inextricably tied to giant bomb

i get it not being a point of focus, discouraging all thoughts on the matter is strange especially the part about shifting spotlights to discord

I agree, this is basically Dan's unofficial Twitter feed, so let's actually have a discussion like a forum is designed for.

Bombcast without Ben

So it's only been a few weeks but already I have started to listen to the Bombcast again and it's greatly improved. Jan & Jason are still incredibly dull, but the addition of Danny has been great, especially as he plays more games than all of them combined, and has kept his SJW rants away from everything. It's pretty funny they rope him in as soon as Ben leaves - they obviously know deep down that Jan and Jason aren't bringing much to the discussions.

Beastcast without Abby

The Beastcast is still the much stronger podcast, simply because you have Vinny and Jeff B on it. To be honest, Jeff B is still the best thing about Giant Bomb right now, as his snow blowing adventure in suburbia proved last week. Alex is still being a massive downer acting like the world is ending, but nothing new there. I'm glad they've stuck to three chairs rather than roped in someone like Ron "glass shattering voice" Funches.

Lack of QLs

Despite a strong start to the year with game releases, so far there have only been two Quick Looks - Hitman 3 and The Medium. The latter of which is two weeks late for a six hour game... and the guy leading it is Jeff B. For a site that used to have multiple QLs a week - sometimes per day - it's insane to see how many games they are ignoring now.

Hitman 3 content

It has been good to see Vinny try to keep the GB tradition of Hitman content going with his weird speedrun attempt and race with Brad. It did highlight, however, how shockingly bad Brad is at the game and how he still crumbles under any sort of pressure. It's not as good as Dan's content with MinnMax, to the surprise of nobody.

Yeah I'm enjoying the Bombcast again. Listening to Jeff, Brad and Danny brings back good memories.

Beastcast I can't comment on I'll have to check it out.

The QLs thing is weird - I don't think they're ignoring games. I just think that something big is going on behind the scenes and we're about to get some major GB news in the next month or two. It's just a hunch.

Regarding Brad and being 'bad' at Hitman. I don't like seeing these kind of comments to be honest, YouTube is always full of them. I couldn't care less if anyone from GB, GameSpot or whatever is good, bad or terrible at any game. They're not playing games in a competitive environment - it's just for fun and for the audience to see how the game's mechanics work. Hosting a show, playing AND trying to not suck at a video game is very fucking difficult - I know this from personal experience.

Oh don't get me wrong I don't expect them to be pros at games, because in the last 15 years that's obviously never been the case, but that format does Brad no favours because he crumbles spectacularly.

Compared that to Vinny, or especially Dan, who manage to stay pretty cool under those circumstances.

I'm just glad Hitman 3 is getting the content it deserves though ultimately.

Yes I agree re: Vinny and Dan, Brad has always had an anxious approach to his gaming, hence why they created the Breaking Brad series.
