we tried that one on medium. twas a bit beyond us, but really fun.PhatSaqs said:This game owns. Never thought dancin to Soulaj Boy could be so fun lol

Ok cool. The one thing I wasn't sure about was the scoring. You need flawless to get a multi? And then if you miss a move it doesn't erase the multi just brings it down a notch?BenjaminBirdie said:Just the still frame one before you start playing the first time that explains how the game works.

Did you mess with the calibration (audio lag)? I went through it okay sans calibrating at first but I might just set it to what RB is; can't hurt.BenjaminBirdie said:Hm. Good point. No clue. It might be in the manual...?
BenjaminBirdie said:I'd recommend sticking to Easy for easy for everything first time through and focus on five starring everything. It's certainly a challenge, but it's nothing you'd probably consider beyond you. I think it's a good way to go through in a not-insurmountable way.
AstroLad said:This game was messed up. I set up Kinect at like 1 AM, though I'd just try out Adventures, wound up playing that for 45m. Then said well I might as well do Dance Central so I can show my wife and friends how to play tonight. Before you know it I'm trying to perfect pokerface and wind up having to force myself to go to bed at 2:45 because otherwise I would just stay up all night.
:lolBenjaminBirdie said:I work a late shift so I spend a lot of time at my desk just listening to shit on my headphones and I swear I was totally just kind of subconsciously pulling moves and I'd look at my arms and be like "WTF are you...oh shiiiiii DANCE CENTRAL."
I definitely jumped straight to this in Options. On my Kuro running through a Pio receiver I had to set mine to 20ms. Not too shabby.AstroLad said:Did you mess with the calibration (audio lag)?

gah that's half the lag i had back my old identical setup! (now i have vt25+pio receiver, which still comes out to about 40 both on video and audio). one day i'll get you lag one day! (of course i'm not willing to sacrifice picture quality or even go into crappy game mode for the marginal benefit so it may be a while)DJ Lushious said::lol
The funnest move I've had to do so far is the "diggin" move (I believe that's what it's called) in "Evacuate the Dancefloor." I've not made it much farther than that track, but the 60s style move just is so much fun, especially when it's followed by "infection."
The 8 hours of work are killing me! I've already talked to two co-workers (soccer moms) about Dance Central and how I just want to get home and play it!

Interestingly enough, I also had to set "overscan" on in the A/V settings of the game. I was getting a black border all around the image, which I thought was odd. Is the game running at sub-HD rez? Not that it matters, 'cause this game is too fun to be legal.
IT'S SO MUCH FUN.:lolAlways-honest said:Stop saying it's fun. I don't want it to be fun!

I'm pretty sure as long as you're moving, you'll get flawless. I'm not sure if it has any bearing on your score.AstroLad said:how do the freestyles work btw? do you just get flawless for doing anything or is there a method to follow
Why do you refer to game mode as "crappy?" I'm just curious."Game" is the only video mode I like on my Kuro for when playing video games. ISFcc, naturally, doesn't fit, and everything else caused too much latency for my SF4 "skills" to handle.AstroLad said:(of course i'm not willing to sacrifice picture quality or even go into crappy game mode for the marginal benefit so it may be a while)
I agree. It fits Harmonix's visual design. My only complaint about that, though? The dancers only have two outfits each and aren't customizable beyond that. Not that I mind too much, since Miss Aubrey's default outfit is all I need.BenjaminBirdie said:You mean is it as good looking as Rock Band 3 with that trademark Harmonix proto-cartoony style?
Of course it is.
From what I can gather, the horizontal bars extending out from your silhouette are the key. Every time one is hit, it seems to do something. I can only assume that this "something" is towards the flawless freestyle.AstroLad said:how do the freestyles work btw? do you just get flawless for doing anything or is there a method to follow
don't like the picture settings. i pretty much calibrate forever and then any deviation from that drives me nuts. too saturated like almost all of them. altho i think on the vt25 it doesn't even reduce lag (or barely) anymore so it's kind of moot anywayDJ Lushious said:Why do you refer to game mode as "crappy?" I bought Dance Central from Best Buy, but they didn't give me an external card. there was an internal card for "keep on dancin'," and it included a key code, but no further instructions on how to redeem the code. So, I just put it back in the case and got my groove on. Maybe this is the Janet Jackson song?Chairhome said:Did anybody buy from Best Buy? Was Control already available with the code? Just wondering how it is. If they do weekly releases like Rock Band, my wallet is screwed.

I don't think so. Its in mine too. I'm assuming its just a code in case they have DC 2 and you can import your songs/dances like how RB does it. At Best Buy they should have given you a code. Maybe you should call and ask?DJ Lushious said:I bought Dance Central from Best Buy, but they didn't give me an external card. there was an internal card for "keep on dancin'," and it included a key code, but no further instructions on how to redeem the code. Definitely. I moonlight there, so I'll rough up one of my co-workers if they don't have any more. :lolChairhome said:I don't think so. Its in mine too. i don't know i haven't even gotten to play them yet!BenjaminBirdie said:Does "Temperature" seem to have new moves? The Lady Sov, on easy at least, looked like it was only recycled stuff from other jams. Same question for the Ne-Yo.
Ne-yo definitely has new moves. There's a few repeated moves, but the reason they charge more for the songs is cause they have to pay the choregraphers. So... yes.BenjaminBirdie said:Does "Temperature" seem to have new moves? The Lady Sov, on easy at least, looked like it was only recycled stuff from other jams. Same question for the Ne-Yo.
That seems like a perfect fit for this game!Raide said:I so hope they add some Jamiroquai in the future.
How Do I DELETE the Picutres Taken During Dance?
I was trying out the Kinect Dance Central game and I was getting hot so I took off my clothee. I had no idea that the game was going to take A BUNCH OF PICTURES OF ME WHILE DANCING WITH NO CLOTHES ON!!! I can go back and look at these pictures but HOW DO I DELETE THEM?!!! HELP!!!!

Fuck secretly. I want to be Timberlake. :lolRaide said:JK and get some Justin Timberlake on it too. I know there are guys out there that would secretly love to practice dancing like JK or JT. :lol

I've done "Temperature" and I think there are a few new moves, but I haven't done every song yet so I can't tell if some of them are repeats. I know it has some repeats from "King of the Dancehall" but I'm sure there are a few new moves.BenjaminBirdie said:No, I know, but I touched on this earlier in the thread. Ne-Yo and Lady Sov were most likely promotional picks tied to the launch event performances, so it seemed that they possibly got less attention than full fledged, planned DLC. The Easy version of the Lady Sov song seemed to back that up, as it had no new moves.

Do they use the real choreography or do they just make up random moves for the songs?
Like I was watching one video and it had this weird 'hula' move, and well, it didn't look like any dance move I've ever seen...:lol
I'm sure I could be wording this more clearly, but the 'dancing' just looks kinda strange.
Maybe I was just watching the wrong songs, or maybe it was because it was on easy.
It still looks entertaining, but I can't imagine I'd ever want to try any of these 'dance moves' while actually trying to dance :lol
Does the dancing become more like real dancing the higher the difficulty?
