He needs to tone down his style a lot. Save your best for big PPVs and just chill throughout the year. No reason to kill yourself on Smackdown and house shows.

In hindsight HBK's second run really was miraculous. Going from "you're done, no more" to having another decade run and retiring healthy is crazy.

The key was he was never a full time guy on his second run- He didn't work most house shows (In his new Christianity book, he explains that it was because it would interfere with his Bible Study, and even talks about how he almost quit in 2009 because Vince wanted to move him to Smackdown, which would prevent him from attending his Tuesday Bible Study).

its probably genuine but part of me thinks that it was a little old hbk saying "fuck that I'm getting my time off." Lol

Yeah I know that. I just wanted to see them fight again in WWE, that's all.

Just add a Kane run-in to the end of that and you've got the WWE version

But then all the other refs will be boooed when they officiate a match damn dbry and the high standards he sets

"Are they muting the ten counts?"

His career looks like it's aged him quite a bit. I can already see what he'll look like when he's older.

if he retires in ring and just stick with being a manager. I want him to use this gimmick. I pray to God that he use this gimmick :(

So what was it that actually did Bryan in? Like was there a certain bump he took? Or was it just his style? If it was his style or just over time wrestling, then I have to say he must not have been very good. Yeah, he looks good and very technical, but if you are getting hurt then you are obviously doing it wrong and that's not good wrestling.

I believe there was one move that kinda set all this off, but a small lifetime of taking these bumps can make something pretty innocuous turn into something horrendous. See: Misawa, Aguayo Jr.

I want to say that it was an Orton match where something obviously went wrong when he took one of the moves - there's definitely video of it.

WWE needed HBK. HBK didn't need WWE. So of course Vince was going to give him whatever he wanted.

I think HBK was actually the first part timer.

He also says it's the reason that, outside of a 1 month run in 2002, he was never given the title, despite being one of the biggest stars in the company for almost 8 years once he returned.

That back suplex into the barricade that gave Bryan a stinger. I think Orton still does that move from time to time which is pretty stupid.

A back injury is a lot different than a neck injury though. Also, HBK was a minor miracle.
I read that HBK's match with HHH at Summerslam 2002 was actually supposed to be a one-off thing. He realized during the conditioning up to the match, and after the match, that he could still go. He checked things out with doctors, they approved of him returning full time, and we got our second (and arguably better) HBK run.

How was his new book, I read his old book I liked it at the time I can't remember anything from it though lol

I wonder if he'll do the right thing this time and put someone over in an IC Title match or make the same mistake again and vacate it so that he can say he never lost it just to placate his massive ego?

Good riddance, regardless.

It's a book about how he came to be a born-again Christian, and all of the Wrestling stories, such as how he handled the rebirth of DX, the designs of his Merchandise, ect- come tied in to his views on Christianity. I'm not unhappy that I read it, but it's hard to reccomend unless you are a Christian, or you are a big enough fan of Shawn that even a few new details are enough to get you to read the book

It's also pretty short- it's like 175 pages

Hmm yes, just looked it up and it looks like this was the match. I can't tell exactly where he gets the stinger, but I think it when he does that suicide dive and Randy side steps. Looks like there was too much momentum and he hits hard against the barricade. The suplex onto the barricade by Randy to Bryan was actually well executed and looks to be Randy's way to get the match stopped cause Bryan wasn't listening. But, man you can actually see the moment in Bryan's eyes at the end. Like saying " my career...."

Even if this isn't the end, I don't see him wrestling his style beyond 35. Every time I see him Suicide Dive or do that thing where he runs jumps and throws himself against someone in the corner landing on his back/neck/head most of the time I wince.

I would love it to be reigns just to see the reactions

Would the reaction be that bad? All people wanted from Reigns was a string of good, meaningful, singles matches with no run ins before he is crowned king. How many WWE champions have never held the IC or US belt before their first reign?

There's a lot of overlap between Bryan "diehards" and Roman Reigns hate. Lemme put it to you like this.

There was actually talk of starting a "You don't deserve it!" Chant at Wrestlemania of Reigns won a match unrelated to Bryan. That's how deep the rabbit hole goes - convinced Reigns "took his spot."

From the first page of this thread:

Well this is good for roman reigns at least (not happy about this part of it)

Reigns Derangement Syndrome isn't going anywhere.

I actually think there's a lot less overlap than people think. It without question started out as "Roman taking Bryan's spot" but I think between Royal Rumble and WrestleMania it transformed into fans (not just Bryan fans) realizing Roman just wasn't entertaining as a solo guy yet, because Roman got a lot more exposure during this time frame. If it was really Bryan die-hards I think the booing would have let up after Roman didn't win the belt at Mania, which it hasn't. Also, nobody booed Rollins when he won the belt even though he was, in a way, also taking what Bryan fans would dub a "Brian moment".

Why? It's in jeopardy, and likely finished. I don't see the issue. I'm expecting a legitimate retirement within the month, to be honest.

Because you're just making shit up? Bryan pulled off tour and Bryan done forever are kind of way different things.
