Daniel Day-Lewis is Spielberg's Lincoln

Well, there are problems in all methods of trying to quantify that comparison. Something like Rotten Tomatoes or Metacritic would probably be a closer call, but we all know how problematic those are. I just can't see The Dark Knight Rises winning many non-technical awards with the competition next year. There's too many big prestige pictures.

This is much of the reason I happily took the friendly bet. I thought he was out of his mind.

Metacritic/RT can go suck a dick. Just choose a critic out of the hat by random and go by his top 10 list.

If neither film makes it then you both lose lol.

Nah but seriously I'm like 100000% sure Spielberg's the better filmmaker even going by 2000s, what a silly argument (..imo)

Psh, I post every photo, poster etc here directly from my server. I also found this baby. Look at Collider, AICN, /Film and any other top news sites. They all link to TFS for this.

I guess what Sculli was saying was, instead of the whole "I don't wanna spoil the movie" angle, just post the pic here, rather than making peeps go to your site to see it.

Like Sculli later did.

He definitely didn't hold back with that sex-scene in Munich but it felt kinda out of place for me lol. Felt like I was watching Cronenberg's Crash for a sec.

Or SPR.

Cause filming Normandy the graphic way he did wasn't a risk...

<rolls eyes>
Saving Private Ryan gets ignored because Band of Brothers is so fucking amazing it made SPR kinda irrelevant. The opening invasion is still great, but then you get a lot of really sappy, sentimentalized moments too.

yeah I know both of y'all are dissing me, but I didn't miss the point on that scene. I just found it weird for a Spielberg film. He never does that, hell I don't really remember sex scenes being in Speilberg movies.

You don't remember Schindler getting his groove on? And I wasn't dissing you, just pointing out how misunderstood that scene is.

Oh jesus, just post the photo. Its LINCOLN for crying out loud. He's not even in costume or on a set.

How's your milkshake?

lol they're both jewish massacre/tragedy films :O.

Man maybe people should stop calling Spielberg safe. He does kinda cop out once in a while like in War of the Worlds but hell...Temple of Doom alone should give him a "I do wtf I want" pass.

Man stop using GAF as your fucking hype machine, its was annoying then and its fucking mind numbing now.

Roger Ebert and many others go to this website, he doesn't need clicks from plebeian scum such as yourself.

protip- If you don't like his website = DONT CLICK ON HIS LINKS

Uh, I found that picture online. It wouldn't be in this thread this fast if I didn't. Like EVERY OTHER SINGLE POST, I post the source.

EDIT: And as Kraftwerk said above, GAF is a minuscule source of traffic for my site. At the time of posting I had the most information in my post, as well as exclusive info. Hence, the best source.

Alrighty then, so stop advertising yourself all the time. And krafty learn to fight your own battles.

So yeah cool pic and all, but I'm still in the "I kind of wanted to see Neeson instead camp" but whatever.

So how is Team of Rivals? I am thinking about giving that a read before the movie comes out.
I don't know how much the movie will actually resemble the book. However, it should be read on its own merits. It's one of the best history books ever written. Lincoln's brilliant cabinet is one of the most under-appreciated aspects of the Civil War in the public's consciousness, and Goodwin does an incredible job of accomplishing the dual task of capturing the urgency of the moment and analyzing things intellectually.
The Fiery Trial does a good job of covering the evolution of Lincoln's attitudes towards slavery and the racial issue, if you are looking for a more detailed treatment of the issue.
That was the book I was thinking of. I've been thinking about picking it up.

Hey! this movie was/is being shot in my city!

didn't know it had this sick of a cast though...just knew about DDL.

Also, I wonder if this movie will shed light on some of the truth about Lincoln, and the fact he wasn't really that great of a dude.

I saw the link to your site through AICN actually.

I'll agree with you. I've had issues with it in the past. If he gets limited traffic from GAF then he doesn't need to plaster links leading to his web site all the time. Everyone knows about the site by now. If they want the information they know exactly where to go.

Expendable's site whoring is easily one of the most annoying things on GAF and I make it a point to do a YouTube search for any trailer he links to instead of clicking on his links.

Your plugging doesn't really bother me like it used to, I guess I've just gotten used to it, but this doesn't seem true when you go out of your way to link your site even in every image you post.
