The downgrades are there and they are obvious (especially in motion) unless the day 1 patch or the PS3 build changes things dramatically.
I don't think the people acting like all of this stuff is manufactured or completely pointless are acting in a much more sensible manner then the people thinking of ending their gaming career over this. I think this stuff matters and should be acknowledged, it should just be taken for what it is. A surprisingly disappointing aspect of a game that still seems to be pretty good regardless of these issues.
I'm kind of sick of these dumb generalizations honestly, stuff like gameplay is the ONLY thing that matters. No it's not. It's the most IMPORTANT part but other aspects matter too. Or the graphics whoring accusations when to me atleast it goes alot deeper than that. It's about polish, care, craftsmanship and overall tone and feel of the finished product. These things matter alot to me and I don't think there's ANYTHING wrong with that. Games are the amalgamation of a bunch of different disciplines, the best games have this synergy between all their different aspects. I'm always looking for those complete package games that get most of everything right. The previous Souls games hit those notes for me and it's just disappointing that this one won't.
With that said, I wish people could react to this stuff a bit more sensibly, no one should take this info and start shouting that the world is falling apart. But it's also not like I made up a knee jerk completely uninformed statement either, there's clearly a significant visual/polish difference between the recent PS3 preview builds and the final 360 version. Very obvious stuff that anyone can see, it's not just a bad screenshot or whatever. Maybe things will be improved through day 1 patches or maybe that's the way it's going to stay but right now this is what it is. That's all I wanted to point out because I was very disappointed personally. I really value atmosphere, polish and little details, that's all there is to this whole thing. Doesn't mean I don't care about gameplay first and foremost and that people shouldn't be excited for the game.
