Dark Souls III Great Sword of Artorias - MAN AT ARMS: REFORGED

I'm not an Artorias fanboy like a large part of the community seems to be, but damn that sword turned out fine. They poured a lot of love into this one.

Damn, this might be the best work they've done yet. Good job, Reforged team. Making the original team look like a bunch of chumps (and they were damn good too).

And yeah, I agree with the mod. A weapon that has been in both previous games isn't a spoiler. The video was sponsored by Dark Souls 3, so they put the name in the title. If the weapon was a HUGE SPOILER OMG, I doubt Namco Bandai would have paid for the video to be made. If they showed boss fight clips, then I would understand, but they didn't. It's not a spoiler, or if it is, it's a very minor one that shouldn't cause your nickers to get twisted. Quit being a baby.

That moment when you realize who they had to kill to make this. :(

Damn, that turned out beautifully.

I wasn't even aware it was in DS3, I've clocked in close to 50 hours now and I've yet to run into it.

These guys go so far beyond the original Man At Arms crew. Insane.
it's kinda amazing how much they changed from the first few builds, which were just mostly plasma cut trash, I remember everyone hating the new guys at the start and like said, it was kinda deserved, stuff like those small thrown captain america shields were just a fucking stupid idea

Looks awesome, I wish they'd done dante's sword that justice, that thing was tiny comparatively.

Couldn't this have been posted in the OT currently on the front page? Some of us are trying to actively stay in the dark on this game still.

No, I wouldn't have seen it then.

Is this really such a big "spoiler"? I mean, when one of my friends told me how Harry Potter ended the day the last book came out, after I spent years waiting to read the ending myself... that was a spoiler.

Sword looks sick by the way, love how they have serious difficulties bringing it up and swinging it.

Artorias wielded the sword with one hand and later with his offhand after manus broke his arm, kinda crazy to see how heavy the sword is

Spoilers are relative, and different things hold different values and weights for different people. For instance, I couldn't give a damn about spoilers for fighting games, though some people do care. It's really just that simple, and either side trying to poke or convince the other is pointless.

People want what they want, and how they want it.

You can't even post weapon names anymore, damn. Spoiler-culture has gone way too far. I imagine some of you being half-paranoid browsing the internet. That must be taxing on the brain.

Anyway, great video and awesome weapon. They should have forged the GOAT though
Profaned Greatsword

Came for the forging, stayed for Stump destroying spoiler babies.

Also, fucking Ilya is the man. Guy's talented in so many areas.

Glad the mod team called out the spoiler ridiculousness.
Spoiler ridiculousness? Thing is Bamco should be called out for delaying the US release for 3 weeks while the internet is littered with DS3 info from the japanese and xbox exploit. So yeah, I can see why Souls fans are on edge right now.

Wouldn't mind finding the sword as a sirprise in the game, but if it doesn't affect the story then it's all good especially with how good the sword came out.

Even Gaf titles aren't spoiler-free, fuck that. Shame on you OP. I guess my next media-blackout is Gaf-less. Fuck.

We are absolutely not going to change this thread title. Spoiler culture is out of control. The name of a weapon from the previous games is not a """""""""""""spoiler""""""""""""" for the current game. It's not even clear from the video if the fucking weapon is in the third game. It's not a spoiler for Final Fantasy XV to say the word "Ultima Weapon". Also this video is a paid commercial paid for by Namco Bandai to promote the game. Grow up you big babies. You should be talking about this with your therapist, not thread whining.

If you can't drag yourself off the internet for five minutes to protect your bubble then request a ban and we'll be happy to process it.
Thank you for making this post!

Aselith is gonna make fun of you lol

Edit: too late

This is the place where a ton of people got fooled by a supremely fake NX controller. Nothing should suprise you.

That was a great video neat that it was sponsored. Might have seen a few things from the game though despite my blackout.

Did they ever say how heavy it is?

I noticed they only swung down so I'm expecting quite a bit. at that size I would not be surprised if it was over 50 pounds. It looks like it could easily be way above that.

Frankly this is disheartening to hear.

While I personally don't care at all about the title, it speaks volumes the attitude everyone in this thread has.

There's a clear difference between your post about Final Fantasy, and a game like Dark Souls where the inclusion of gear that belongs to old bosses/NPC's has lore implications.

Many of the posts in this thread are kinda gross. Especially since all you need to do is change "Dark Souls 3" to "Dark Souls series" or "Dark Souls".

An applicable analogy for your Ultima Weapon one would perhaps be the Moonlight Greatsword, one that From has put into all of their games, from King's Field on. Not NPC sets/weapons which give credence to various beats of the story. And while that story is sparse, it doesn't discount it at all, like some of the posters in here have been bandying on about.

Again, while it is at the discreation of you the moderators to decide what is fair game, personally I don't ever see this kind of attitude with other games in other series. Boss weapons in any game I'd consider not huge spoilers, but still a nice surprise for players to discover on their own time.

Just my two cents.

On topic: The video is great and his handiwork is amazing as always. Such a master of his craft. The Artorias set is one of the most well designed in the series as well, so a perfect choice.

That's because no one acts like that about weapons in other series. No one would be like "OMG YOU SPOILED THE MASAMUNE" if they did this for Final Fantasy 15.

I don't understand the stance here. We have correct etiquette in all OTs regarding spoilers, we usually have separate spoiler-free threads, all that so we can respect people who don't wish to be subjected to early revelations.

And here, with this title, the official stance is "go refresh reddit because they enforce spoilers warning" ? Really ? That doesn't even make sense. I don't want to refresh a spoiler-free Dark Souls world. I want to refresh Gaf for news, steering away from DS3 topics until release (it's still not released!), without having DS3 spoilers in the titles.

This all makes no sense. I'm not trying to force anything upon anyone. I'm just asking for people to respect those who wish to stay away from DS3 spoilers before the release of the game. And it's always been the case on Gaf until today.

The name of a sword that's been in every game in the series is not a spoiler.

Come on.

And yes, despite the ethnocentrism rampant about these things, the game IS released, officially, with official servers and updates and stats and all that fun shit. I know because I'v played 30 hours of it so far.

By that logic should the official trailers not have had their subtitles (i.e. Darkness Spreads) posted as well? This is official advertisement from Bandai Namco. If you're on such a blackout that even knowing a Sword that may or may not be in Dark Souls 3 is enough to trigger you then you shouldn't be on a gaming forum a week before release.

On Topic: Artorias must have had insane strengh to be effortlessly swinging that thing around with one arm. I love how he's doing cartwheels and jumping all over the place when you fight him. Despite having a broken arm he's still kickin ass.

In this case, it's not about spoilers in general, it's about things that don't really spoil in general. People don't know how you get this weapon unless you actually know DSIII spoilers. Maybe it's an easter egg somewhere since this is the last in the trilogy. Maybe it's gotten by a boss similar to Sif. You still don't actually know without playing the game.

This isn't a 'This is the final boss', 'This is the twist that happens at this point, 'This is the character that joins later on that was an enemy first'. It's a weapon that without proper information, you can't say how it's gotten and still leaves as a mystery.

Man the amount of work put in to making these is crazy. I think that's the kind of thing I'd like to do exactly one time in my life. It'd be a great story but man it looks tough to do, doubly so if you have no art skills.

The direction this thread went is weird.

Sorry but Artorias is crazy important in Dark Souls 1's story. And after DS1 and DS2 having such different settings (Arotias is not mentioned in DS2), pretty much every fan is wondering how DS3 will (maybe) tie it all together. This is not a random name thrown in every Souls game with no story behind it.

But I can stay away from trailers topics, the subtitles of the trailers are not in the topics' titles.

It just shows that Artorias is relevant again in DS3, where he wasn't in DS2. That's kind of big news to me. Sorry for being annoying about it.

Claiming lore implications in a character which role and biography starts and ends with DS1 is kinda hilarious.

The inclusion on DS2 was pure fan service. It's inclusion on DS3 dosn't necesarily means anything.

It's a weapon name. It's literally all that was posted. The name, of a weapon, that's it.

Batman is important to DC comics, if I put out something that says Batman will be in something, without ANY ADDITIONAL CONTEXT, is that a spoiler? No of course not because all that does is let you know that the thing is in what is being discussed, nothing more.
