Dark Souls internal rendering resolution fix (DSfix)

i asked before but no one answered. but how do i view the fps in dark souls. i know i'm running steady at 30 fps because i can visually see it. i have seen slow down a couple times. but i just want to actually see what it's doing.

so how do i go about viewing this?

thanks in advance.

(fraps, got it)

Awesome pic man, what resolution you running as well as are you downscaling from what? And are you getting a constant 30fps with those settings, and which version of the MOD you using?

Forced 16x AF. No AA. 2560x1600 to 1920x1200. Fix 03. Pretty much 30 fps constant yes. I've been running around Blight town now and no fps drops.

After seeing how fast Durante has Fixed this i seriously start to feel FROM has really just put Very little effort into this port, and cant help but feel a little Dissapointed in how they have treated the game, as it is a VERY high quality game, and ive only seen an hour or so's worth of it so far.....

FRAPS

thanks everyone who wrote fraps. i figured that's what i'd have to do. just wasn't sure if there was any kind of in game commands.

Can someone please write a quick easy guide for new users to understand how to set this up? I have been mucking with settings and it still looks blurry comppared to these shots. Im running Nvidia 570gtx windows 7x64 Core i7 3.4 8 gigs ram..

Although everyone is fixated on the resolution... I have a new concern to bring up:

I haven't noticed any surround sound, only stereo. Has anyone else noticed that there is no positional audio at all?

Yep, sound is totally weird. Lots of directional weirdness if I use my stereo headphones, and reeeeeally inconsistent to non-existant positional audio if I use my 5.1 speakers.

I made this video earlier today showcasing an audio problem I ran into.

Audio is pretty weird in this game for me, for example, in the tutorial level, even after killing the boss, I could still hear his huge footsteps.

Also the atmospheric sounds kind of break or start playing as you move between spots in the map.

Its kind of jarring :(

I believe the same type of enemy is also downstairs near the level beginning even after you kill the boss. So I don't think thats a glitch. Haven't played with headphones though, will have to try it out.

How bizarre, if I don't set CCC to top everything (AA, AF, etc), the game runs at 15fps, but when I run at 1.5 x 1080p super sampling with all that guff on it runs at 30fps with the occasional dip.

Wonder whats doing that.

Im a completely ignorant when it comes to anyting "programming" but i would imagine its maybey something to do with the fact that it forces the game to make more use of your GPU?

Just a thought

Ok I just want to correct my earlier statement. I THOUGHT the framerate was dipping some. I turned on Radeon Pro and it turns out I was completely wrong. I guess I'm just not used to the camera movement again yet and the feel.

My PC:

I7 920 (Lynfield processor)
Crossfired Radeon 6870
6GB of RAM

I have it set to double resolution downsampled to 1080p and it runs completely rocksolid 30 frames per second. It never dips. Not even when the giant dragon came and slammed down on the bridge in front of me. It looks amazing. Far better than the 360 version which I put over 70 hours into.

Blighttown here I come. =D

I just don't know how to make this mod work. My monitor res is 1360 x 768. When I start the game, all i can see is a black screen and grey square. Any ideas?

Try starting the game without the mod first. Set up your resolution. Turn off AA and motion blur. Close the game, then apply the mod putting the two files in your directory with the darksouls.exe. I'm using version 1, might want to try that first to make sure it works before trying other versions.

Low resolution assets.

Riiiiight.

This is one of the best looking pc games I've ever seen. I think it's mostly for the fact that the art direction in Dark Souls is god tier.

you should revisit the place after hitting ringing the bells

Same thing happening to me occasionally, I'll spin the camera around and think its an FPS drop but fraps is telling me 30.

I heard footsteps also. I thought it was odd, but kinda shrugged it off. Hopefully when i start actually playing today I'll find the audio ok. But not getting my hopes up.

Do you have the texture filtering override set to 1 or 2? I have a similar set up.

And I assume you are forcing 16x AA in Radeon Pro and leaving everything else to default application settings?

Since I am getting a solid 30 frames as is and it already looks amazing, I might as well see if I can push it with a few more bells and whistles.

Whoa, bless you.

Is there a code that makes the green man version $32?

The only time I seem to lose framerate is when I sit a bonfire and these weird gases appear. It stutters for a brief moment and then it's fine again.
