I thought the Archives were pretty easy, I say go for that one.

Thanks for the info on the covenants... another question about post Anor Londo
I got the Lordvessel from the pornstar, I thought she said to give it to Frampt (the big snake head thing at firelink), but when I go to see him... he's passed out drunk or something face down in the concrete. I can't even wake him up. I've even run around and done other stuff for a few hours and he won't budge. How do I wake him up?

Depends on your class/build. If you haven't placed the
Lordvessel
yet, I'd say to do New Londo first just so you have access to an extra Covenant. Not a big deal if you've done otherwise, though.

As for the zones,
Tomb is my favorite starting point if only for the baby skeletons for souls and Humanity farming. It is also the shortest and easiest of the areas despite the darkness. If you're an INT character, you can just use Cast Light from Dusk to get through this place; if you're a Faith character, you'll get White Chunks (and a Slab) from here for making an Occult weapon.

Well, you can clear
New Londo
instead to get a different person to give it to. As for
Frampt, I honestly have no idea what causes him to sleep; he just woke up on one of my files some 20 hours after I sided with Kaathe o.o

L2 him with your shield.

Attack him - one hit will do. I've taken my Furyblade to him to wake him up without any consequence - but probably best to leave it at just one hit, as I'm not sure if going past that will make him aggro or not.

Ok thanks again. I thought about hitting him with something but didn't know what kind of consequences that would have.

whoa, holy hot damn -- i need advice on 4 kings on NG+.

let me see, my stats go something like this:
VIT 23
STR 22
END 29
ATT 19
RES 10
DEX 20
INT 50
FAI 20

I'm SL 106 or 116, I don't remember exactly.
I made it to 4 kings, was wearing mask of child for stamina, havel's leggings, havel's armor, and gold hemmed gauntlets with grass crest shield on my back and 2 handed fire winged spear +10.
I cast magic shield, since the game seems to like to have that as broken.
I got up to the first of the 4, hit him, did 200-400 damage, give or take, I don't remember -- what I do remember is him OHKO me like it wasn't a big deal. If I'm wearing havel's armor, what the hell do I do to take LESS damage? I mean, I could wear the full set and be overencumbered a bit but I doubt the gauntlets/helmet made that big of a difference...

Suggestions?

I've read conflicting reports.

Official guide says yes. Guide I took from ps3t.org says yes.

Wow the drop rate for the ghost blade is terrible. Only two female ghosts, and fighting those things is very annoying (NG+).

All of the ghosts drop Ghost Blades. I've had it drop from the ghosts in that first room where they ambush you with the elevator down.

Abuse the strong magic shield invincibility glitch? Lol. You're invincible while it's still on!

Only two drop Ghost Blades (the screamers); the rest drop Jagged Ghost Blades. Two different weapons.

Unless you knew that and meant otherwise, in which case my luck is terrible even at 410 Item Discovery and clearing out 7 ghosts per run on Darkwraiths.

You have 50 INT. Crystal Homing Soulmass kills one of them in like 2 hits.

EDIT: Sorry I didn't notice you said NG+. I'm dumb.

What the fuck, why didn't I get the Sunlight Maggot drop? I killed the 9 bugs but got nothing.

Also, I'm missing the speckled stone ring too. I fell down a stupid-ass pitfall and died when me and Siegmeyer went down the pit. Now when I talk to him he just goes to sleep. Man fuck Lost Izalith.

That really sucks about the sunlight maggot drop, I thought it was guaranteed :/ It really makes the tomb of the giants much less irritating.

Also, is there a definitive list anywhere for the Knight's Honor achievement/trophy? Several sources note that the official guide's list is incorrect, but I haven't found a confirmed-to-be-perfect list that excludes fluff. Wikis are also incomplete.

Makes it kind of hard to farm, as I don't know if I'm wasting my efforts or not.

Thanks for the help. I did already place the
Lordvessel
, and I'm a DEX build with no magic besides healing, so I'll go try the archives first.

I feel like I'm missing a lot by not having magic. I really, really regret killing the pyro trainer. I know the NPC just past Quelaag can teach it to you too, but I don't have the item that lets me talk to her.

Why is the Nazgul (gold-hemmed) armor so much better than everything else you find around then? It kind of annoys me to see everyone I summon wearing it.

how do I slip unnoticed out of a gloryhole booth?
how does one get access to the covenant beyond Quelaag? I ran around a bit there when I beat her but I couldn't find any eggy dude to talk to, so I just figured I'd do it later. Can I do it now? Do I need something in particular to do it?

I'm having issues due to lack of ranged attacks. :c

Erm, you don't need the ring for that; that just lets you understand her. It's purely flavor text.
And it's the egged Hollow that does anything; she's just the Covenant NPC and a Fire Keeper
.

How do you get Shiva to spawn in Blighttown? I joined the Forest Hunters and immediately warped to Blighttown, but he's neither below nor near the waterwheel. :/

It's really not all that good; I think most people use it due to the way it looks and the base DEF on it isn't bad.

Go into the room after
Quelaag
and down the staircase; one of the walls is fake (usually marked) and attack it. They're behind it along with a Bonfire.

Speak to Shiva in the forest and then go to Blighttown.

Upgraded the Sage Robe to +5 last night for my sorceror, and I think it's the best robe in the game, from what I've seen. Sage Robe + Antiquated Skirt is probably the best pairing.

If you go down the spiral staircase where the.bell is there's a false door. Once you break it down you'll see an egg dude with a bonfire behind him.

For the love of god, resist the urge to attack him like I did.

I use it because it's the best defense for its weight. I'm under 25% weight when I wear it and I love the movement boost I get. It's so easy to backstab people just by circle strafing and waiting for them to do something.

I actually don't like how it looks, and it bugs me how I haven't found any other good light armor since.

Mind blown. I could have gone the entire game without knowing that. Thanks, I'll go back and check that out. The last time I
talked to that NPC, he didn't say anything about teaching pyromancy.

Yes that works but they have a lot more HP, so chances are 3 Iron Skin is not enough. In NG+ you can have 6 charges, and that's what worked for me. I couldn't kill the first one before the second one spawned though, unlike the first playthrough.

Definitely kill the Capra Demon, since he's a mandatory boss who drops a key item.

Not quite true; she levels you up in the covenant in exchange for humanity. You get two chaos spells doing this, so if you are going for the "all pyro" achievement (or just want Great Chaos Fireball which is awesome.. Chaos Storm is 'meh') you will need to give her up to 40 humanity.

That's not actually true, as Capra Demon and
the Depths/Gaping Dragon as well as most of Blighttown
can be skipped if you go in through the back way.

Even without the Master Key, one can enter
Blighttown
through the
Valley of Drakes
from
Darkroot Basin
, which is accessible from
Undead Parish
.

It's not the game's original "normal" path, and for a new player I definitely agree in going to lower Undead Burg to go to the Depths, but it is in no way mandatory.

I've basically just come to accept that I can't stay under 25% in anything decent without using Havel's or NinjaFlip ring. :/

For the record, there's no
"teaching" Pyromancy. You get a Flame and you buy/find/are given the spells. That's it. The same for Miracles and Sorcery. He should provide you with a Flame and you can upgrade it and buy the spells from Quelana.

Right, she's the Covenant NPC (and isn't it 30 Humanity? 10 for Rank+1, 20 for Rank+2). But, yeah, GCF is from her and that's worth getting. Though, you still don't need the ring for that. Was more just talking about the whole getting a Flame and upgrading it thing. She's important for other things.

The damage output in my NG+ is insane; I die in 2 hits max from normal enemies... one of the damn ghosts manages to hit me with a swipe and it's like 20% of my health. If I get grabbed by a ghost at full health, I barely survive... I might have to try the suggestion about using crystal soul mass (and crystal soul spear... will have to use the dusk headgear instead of stamina boost, I guess... wonder if I could get away with bellowing dragoncrest instead of havel's ring as my 1 chosen ring for the fight...)

You're absolutely right, silly me.

I guess it didn't click for me since I did almost everything I could in Undead Burg/Parish before venturing into Darkwood.

At that time, it has some of the best def/resistances compared to anything else - but it's not upgradeable and has no poise. I wore it for a bit, but between getting bored of the look of it really fast, and the lacking of poise - I soon went back to other armor.

To be honest, I think upgraded Elite Knights armor is one of the better armors in the game as a general 'go-to' (There are still situations of which I'll prefer other sets). It upgrades very well, upgrades with readily available materials (no twinkling twilight farming), fairly light and no stamina regeneration hit and a decent amount of poise.

Soon after getting the Gold Hemmed stuff though, you end up finding like a half dozen other sets - and it becomes a matter of mix & match based on - Situation, Looks (Yes, I am vain), Weight, Resistances / Defense, Poise, Stamina-regen hit.

Stacking up Mask of the Child, Regen ring, Grass Crest Shield and the consumable item that boosts stamina regen, and a full set of armor that does not impact stamina regeneration = non-stop slicing machine.
