Stuff like that hand tattoo and the "Hahaha" and "Joker" tattoos and everything...it just...I don't know. It screams "look at me!.

The way Joker dresses and looks has always screamed look at me. I've always believed him to be a character that craves attention.

That's basically Joker's thing. Remember Return of the Joker or Arkham Knight, his only fear is being forgotten, being a nobody. That's who he is, trying to be above everything, even sanity.
I think the last two Joker adaptations (Ledger and Nicholson) had a great look AND a great performance. At best, this will only have a great performance. And that could easily be enough for me, but it's still disappointing.
I mean, yeah, the other ones were more classic, but I seriously can't see a gangster in purple working in this world, especially against Batfleck. YOu're gonna need a modern criminal, and a complete lunatic to make sense, and I think that's precisely what we got.

I definitely think he has always been a guy who has craved and needed attention. The main difference, to me, is his look has always been clown-like. His look itself was never self-referential. It was an attention-grabbing look but it never said, "You know who I am, right? The Joker!" This Joker's whole look is completely self-referential. It's just a lot different.

Here's what I would have been TOTALLY fine with. Everything being the same...except no tattoos. It would have taken away all my doubts. He still would have looked crazy and everything. It would just be a crazy psychopath who isn't pointing out all over his body that he's the Joker.

I mean, this is a guy whose signature thing is leaving victims with the same kind of smile as him as a calling card, has weapon and vehicle and hideouts emblazoned with his face and image. Pointing out that he's the Joker is basically a mirror of Batman stylizing all his gadgets and car and computer and whatnot as a "Bat[tool]". The tattoos and such make perfect sense IMO

In a way, all these self referential tattoos and accessories is a way of Joker mocking Batman doing the same but taking it seriously.

I see your point. I just don't like it. I find the particular tattoos he had off putting. I'm certainly not trying to get other people to feel the same way. Like I said in the beginning, is just going to be a hard sell for me, but we'll see.

Don't worry, I hate the face tatoos with all my heart.

Joker is try-hard. He is an attention whore. That is the Joker; always has been. As much as I like Ledger's take he is not what I want this new Joker to be.

But like I said, Leto's performance can [and has to] rise above that, and I'm going to keep an open mind.

People weren't sure about Ledger's look either before seeing the movie and how he made it work. I'd give Leto that same chance.

Yeah I'm speaking only on personal opinion. I thought Joker on TDK looked awesome before it came out. But hey, I could end up loving it. Who knows.

Empire's other Suicide Squad cover. Think I'll pick up the Joker one.

Ropeguy looks like a discount Steven Seagal.

I was talking to some friends a few months ago about him, and I said "He looks like Steven Seagal with cornrows, and his specialty is ropes. He's gonna last like five minutes."

So it's good to know that I wasn't the only one that thought he looked like Mr. Seagal. Hah.

He's still sour on that Jamie Alexander thing, lol. From what little info there is on that he's the one who fucked it up so Gal can only laugh at his #wooden on the way to the bank.

Well that SS Miami event was mostly lame, but I did catch a decent glimpse of Will and Margot, that was neat

What did they do, exactly? I saw some pictures of them hanging out, and a video of Will rapping.

Anyway, while they (David Ayer, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Karen Fukuhara, Jay Hernandez) were in Miami, they also showed up as guests on the Spanish morning talk show Despierta America:

Did the panels get uploaded to youtube yet?

I must've missed that rap, but my crew and I got there around two, and waited amongst many, many others until five for them to come out of some gallery where they seemed to be talking to the press

Will and David approached the crowd, shook some hands and signed some autographs before leaving, Margot might have signed one or two things and left. I believe the rest of the cast present went straight from the press interview into their escort vans. I don't blame them though, the weather really was fucking insufferable.
