It's definitely a homage to Donner's movie. Patti loves the original Superman and used that as an inspiration for making WW. She talked about it in an interview. I'll post it later.Forgive my ignorance, but isn't WW seeming like an adaptation of theWW animated movie? Even has the alleyway scene where she saves Steve. However everyone calls it an homage to Reeves. I mean I guess both could he true?

Anyways, yeah, I don't know what to think right now. I'm glad we have positive buzz for a change. It feels weird lol.

That's not true some times, I am not talking about the DCEU btw. , but movies have been panned before, but now are considered all time classics.
Most Kubrick movies have experience that, Unbreakable, Enemy, Fight Club, Apocalypse Now and The Thing without research. How many blade runner like movies are there?
Ohhhhhhhhh.... Are they hated by everyone then or have a following like the DC movies. It may be a matter of generation taste change. Most Kubrick movies have experience that, Unbreakable, Enemy, Fight Club, Apocalypse Now and The Thing without research.
Positive buzz can be quite deceiving tho. Be cautious, just in case.

I am be on the wrong side of history and Syderstone Dceu movies may be loved years after lol.

Yes. I know. I am just wondering if Snyders movies face the same reception ( from both critics and normal movies goers) as those movies. I like most of the movies that were mentioned so I am wondering if it's a generation thing and Snyders movies will be loved years after.Dude, are you even reading? I have said "I am not talking about the DCEU btw.".

Yeah wtf WW actually looks awesome. Cap and Thor look like Asterix & Obelix in comparison. That said, would be lying if I said one didn't catch my eye
@mikeryan
Easily the best of the DCEU. And I liked MAN OF STEEL. It's part CAPTAIN AMERICA: FIRST AVENGER and part "fish out of water" THOR 1.
This has probably sold me more on giving the film a chance than any of the trailers and any promo material except one poster. (Although the MoS compliment obviously has me wary.)

Snyder's DC movies are made from the perspective of a creator putting his own spin on these franchises, as opposed to paying lip service to fans. It's a totally opposite approach to Marvels. It's worth more artistically, but it is extremely divisive, just as in comics when creators take liberties.Yes. I know. Yeah, total milquetoast.Agreed. I was hoping Suicide Squad would be the same thing, but Ayer really dropped the fucking ball. Phoned that shit in completely.
The irony is he gets the medium better than anyone else in the film industry does imo, despite the complaints that he seemingly doesn't.

I think Snyder has the right ambitions and bigger ambitions than most superhero studio heads - he wants the movies to mean something and stand out as something different in the movie landscape. Where we disagree is I don't think he's a good enough filmmaker to pull it off. He's good enough to do stylistic action but not to make it gel with philosophizing about man and society. He overestimates his abilities. He wants to make masterpieces but, if that's true, should probably just serve as a producer type finding the right talent.
I don't necessarily disagree. But to me that kind of ambition is far more interesting to watch and digest than the other stuff that's being put out there. I can't say it really matters to me if another blockbuster movie has a more structurally sound script and better editing if the overall product is a bland vision-less affair that literally leaves your mind the second the credits roll. Everything is becoming the same, it's bad and boring, star wars is marvel is harry potter is now univeral monster verse. Lame. Sure ill gladly take a combo of both perfect craft and vision (see Mad Max), but those don't come every day.I think Snyder has the right ambitions and bigger ambitions than most superhero studio heads - he wants the movies to mean something and stand out as something different in the movie landscape. But Raimi directed and wrote the screenplay for Spider-Man 3 and Wright got laid off by Feige. Not in a world where Sam Raimi and Edgar Wright exist. Recreating panels 1:1 from comics doesn't make a good comic book movie.
I agree with you that Zack Snyder's cbm movies have been born out of passion and a vision he sees. I just think it's unfortunate you mentioned Guardians. James Gunn also has his very own distinct vision for his comic book movies and how they should come to life. GotG2 isn't a super great movie but it is James Gunn in execution and heart. And fuck it, i'll say it too, I won't pay to see Guardians or whatever else comes out this summer, but I'll probably see Transformers as well, as Bay has his own formula and vision and its looking batshit insane of the highest order. I know I won't walk out of seeing that movie without a strong opinion one way or another. As opposed to walking out of a Doctor Strange or Fantastic Beasts where I literally forget everything about those shit flicks the day after. Don't have time to waste on nothing ass movies anymore.
Yeah, a lot to agree with here. I'm not watching as many blockbusters anymore simply because that formula started grating on me.Yeah, total milquetoast.
Im honestly over blockbusters in general, its all the same mickey mouse formula'd shit. Give me a dozen Snyder movies, he doesn't stick the landing on everything, but the ideas and beats that land are certainly borne out of a creative vision that isn't seeking to satisfy a certain assembly line formula. The more audience members who are alienated the better TBH.

I'm just saying, Snyder wouldn't have made Spider-Man 3.

He also directed 300 and Watchmen you know.Instead he made BvS which did worse commercially as well as financially? What's your point, exactly?

Neither of which touches Raimi's best. So?
I really like the half-faced woman who creates those gases. Although I don't know much about her. I also like the make up and costume design of the film in general.
Yeah, total milquetoast.

Commercially and financially both mean the same thing...
His experience with 300 led to Wonder Woman and him assisting Patty Jenkins how to film a demigod warrior in her solo film. .
The Wachowskis seem so far gone after Jupiter Ascending.
But then I didn't see sense8 yet so maybe they still got it
The shot where Wonder Woman jumps in the air in slow motion is basically shot for shot of Michael Fassbender in 300.
Without having seen the second season, Sense8 is the best and most ambitious thing they have worked in a minute.

So did Season 2 really improve immensely above S1 of Sense8?
