If somebody was going to direct that Scarface movie, it seems like it would be Ayer. Its supposed to take place in Los Angeles this time around if IIRC. I don't know how much a loss it is for WB. Unless they absolutely have to start making the movie, I think they can wait. Ayer probably wasn't suited for this project anyway.

I kinda liked the GotG dance off and loved the Mandarin twist in Iron Man 3. For me, The Wolverine and Winter Soldier have the worst third acts in recent memory (of movies I otherwise enjoyed).

And Ayer leaving GCS? No complaints here. In fairness Suicide Squad is one of his worst and he's capable of making a solid movie, but he's inconsistent.

I've yet to hear an argument for why an action-comedy featuring a talking racoon and a living tree can't have a dance scene from one of "the biggest idiots in the galaxy". I kinda get the argument that GOTG has a tendency to undercut the serious moments with jokes. Even though I personally feel it adds more weight to the scenes where they don't. The dance scene however is such a hilarious way to bring the two strands of the Guardians and Ronan's search for the gem together. Ronan who was this super grim-dark, self-important character against a guy who drops an infinity gem and is just perplexed at what's happening. It's not like the movie was 2 hours of The Dark Knight tier seriousness and then went goofy in the last 10 minutes.

If WB still wants Sirens out in 2018, they gotta find a new director ASAP

I think scarface is better suited for Ayer's sensibilities, with that said I second the suggestion of getting a female director and make the movie like a " superhero girl's night out" thing, get nightwing in there to be the token hunk and we're set.

Just in my personal opinion, the Dance Off doesnt really work for me because at no point is Ronan a threatening villain.

If Ronan had actually been well executed, then it would have worked a hell of a lot better because i9f would have actually been a funny way of dealing with a threat. Because Ronan is so goofy anyway, it doesn't feel funny to me, just makes Ronan look even lamer than he already was.

Building up a genuine threat for a movie and ending it with a dance off would have worked a hell of a lot better than what we actually got.

I still like GOTG though.

Oooo if Ayer is off Sirens, I will not complain. Him on Scarface makes way more sense, honestly. His Joker was essentially a new age gangster. Can't wait for Leto to show up in The Batman with all the face tats removed and the explanation is just "I like to change things up, can't be too predictable ya know!"

It doesn't work for a myriad of reasons. There has to be some stakes in this world invasion (I'm going to come down and kill this planet). Not only does Ronan undercut Thanos (which is supposed to be super baddy), but Ronan is then further trivialised being killed by a thrusting pelvis. It's not compelling at all and rings very hollow. What was the point of even spending any time building up this half baked villain with a generic plan if you were going to write him away is such a stupid manner? No stakes takes away any sense of urgency or me caring about any of the characters.

And if we're to pull away from just GOTG and look at the MCU, they've struggled mightily to create compelling villains, and GOTG was there "well screw it, we're terrible at this, thrusting pelvis death it is and people will love it"

For me personally, it was very offputting... GOTG 2 has an infinitely better climax and ending.

Fair enough, but that's a criticism on the implementation rather than the presence of the dance itself.

Ronan isn't beaten by a thrusting pelvis but by a combination of actions and circumstances that are totally inline with the characterization of the actors involved. Peter, quick on his feet but essentially an idiot, distracts Ronan with the first thing that comes to mind so Rocket can rebuild the cannon and give it to Drax.

And in the end it still takes their combined power and a frickin infinity gem to beat Ronan.

I'll be the first to say that i'd prefer Ayer to stay on Sirens.

He's an interesting fit for Scarface, but that's a pointless endeavor since nothing will ever fuck with Scarface '83. I'd rather they just take inspiration and call it something else so I don't have to be disappointed every time I see it listed on my TV guide.

Marvel is playing 4D chess with the superheroine genre.

Cmon now 1970s peace and love is Wonder Woman to a tee throw Circe and her Beast Island in there and like Cheetah and we got a movie. I would love a fashionable maybe spy espionage tinged movie. Perfect.

Or maybe some Amazons are tasked with hunting Diana down for leaving Themyscira. I'm talking Artemis, Donna, Cassie, Persephone who knows!

And honestly I might make you guys mad, but no big mythology stuff please. I loved Azzarellos run too but no need for a Clash of Titans threequel

Nah, it's not just believable that something as dumb as that would be the Achilles heel to Ronan. The suspension of disbelief was destroyed for me when that happened, took me out of the movie.

I don't really know how to explain why that dance scene in GotG bothered me so much. I just know that I was enjoying the movie. Then Starlord started dancing and I looked over to my wife at the time and said, "This is fucking stupid" and that was sort of my ending impression of the movie. Still enjoy the movie up until that point but I usually stop it at that part.
