DC reveals hip and edgy new look for Lex Luthor

For some reason, I wanted to edit Luthor's speech bubble to say, "Radical! Bodaciious Pizza! Marty McFly Hoverboard!' but that would make me sound dumb and old.

Lex Luthor will always be a psychopathic megalomaniac bent on world domination covered by a thick glaze of "legitimate businessman who wants to "stop" Superman cause he is a unpredictable alien in the end" kind of character.

I liked John Byrne's rich Lex Luthor more than I did genius Lex Luthor.

Remember? Genius Lex Luthor was pissed because Superman made him bald. Invent some Minoxidil there, brainiac.

Seems like they want to make him younger in the comics and portray them how they THINK the Jesse Eisenberg version will be. However I highly doubt movie version will be anything like this and hopefully will be more like the businessman/scientist version particularly since their was a LexCorp truck in the first movie.

I'll take "tales from my ass" for 500 dollars, Alex.

They're giving him a new look to both coincide with the reboot and codify his new status quo. And honestly? It's not that bad.

Businessman Lex Luthor is what he SHOULD look like.

The Animated series and 80s-90s comics got it 100% right

this is Lex:

Why fuck with such an iconic look?

we most of the character's life was battle armor or some derivative look. I like businessman too but this is just a mix of things. would it be asking too much to wait and see what else they have planned?

Only good Lex Luthor

Fucking Superman's cousin burned hotter than Kryptonite

Well lets take look at some of the comics coming out lately/coming soon:

Oh-Killstrike-1-Cover.jpg

bloodstrike-covers-123871.jpg

-Divergence pic which may or may not be from issue 41 of Batman goes here-

2/3 of those are deliberately self-aware, and the last is Rob Liefeld.

Robats is more 80's than 90's.

Also, Gambit thanks for posting a page from a comic that isn't out yet.

Think that's from the preview, actually, which I think they had done special, rather than just being an excerpt from the actual issue.

Jealous of the Glory that is Johnny Depp

The reason why these characters have stay relevant for so long is because of all the different interpretations throughout the years. If Lex stayed the same all the time I don't think the character would've stayed relevant for 75+ years.

But obviously you have no idea at all.

But tatting up Joker, making Harley look like a suicide girl and making Lex look like a crack dealer isn't the answer!

and he put on that Australian accent. it's too bad what happened to Packard and Kelley, his (fake) mother. damn I miss when the Superman titles had four comics. such a diverse cast of characters.

Those previews for FCBD are excerpts from #41.

Would you really reveal who is in the suit when not every one goes to FCBD?

Iconic or you're just getting older and don't want things to change :D

No I want things to change but they should be done in a smart way. Mad Max Fury Road and the Nolan Batman movies prove that things can be modernized and changed but still stay true to the original concepts.

tattoing up joker and sticking a grill on him and then saying "YOU NEED TO GET WITH THE TIMES" isn't going to make everyone agree its a good design.

FCBD were not excerpts from #41. They were short stories.

I was under the impression they were previews for the June releases.

A first look at upcoming storylines! DC Comics: Divergence features three 8-page previews for the June releases of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's Batman, as well as Geoff Johns and Jason Fabok's launch of the "Darkseid War" within Justice League featuring the biggest villains in the DCU - Darkseid and the Anti-Monitor, and Gene Luen Yang's DC Comics debut with celebrated artist John Romita, Jr on Superman.

Reminds me of that thread where everyone complained about robot Batman, without having read a page of Scott "Can do no wrong" Snyder's Batman.

People hated business Lex when it happened. People hate Lex with a full head of hair. People hate most of the battlesuits.

Nothing to see here.
The color scheme is what wrecks them. I get why they do it (purple and green to contrast Superman's red and blue), but they've never quite been able to make it work.
