It's hard to say for sure yet but I feel like it'd be playable on your first set up, though it might look better on console.

Are you sure? Both setups meet or exceed the minimum reqs... With the 9600M, he'll be able to play on med setiings 720p at least.

After reading enough impressions and watching videos I finally put my money down on the PC version.

I played the game at GamesCom and again at PAX, but I though the controls were slow, and cumbersome. When I spoke to someone else about Dead Island, that was the first issue they brought u as well.

Has anyone else experienced this?

It also looks sluggish in the videos, however, are you sure this isn't a low-level issue? As in you're not supposed to be good at combat as a tourist with no training?

The keys are _NOT_ region free. I've just bought a unusable Dead Island UK key (GMG).
What should I do now?

You can't activate it on Steam? If not, try contacting GMG, they seem to be helpful.

So is the world broken into zones or is it completely open? Originally thought it was the former, but talk of it being like fallout makes me think it's completely open.

So you're in the UK and the GMC code didn't work?

this game should look pretty sweet on the pc. 1080p, anti aliasing, high details, 60fps with vsync = gimme more of that.

can't wait.

No, I'm not in the UK. I knew it was a gamble, but i thought I could try and lost.
I'm not blaming anyone, just wanted to warn that the keys are not region free.

Someone in th UK up for a trade?

Get a trusted friend from that region to register it for you? That is how people are getting around the region thing for Deus Ex HR.

Looks pretty good! :) Watched the IGN review, but that wasn't enough to seal the deal for me. Gonna wait for some more reviews. Anyone knows when the GT review gets up?

That's strange. I wonder what reasons there could be to have several European versions. It's not like Austria gets a cut version - there probably isn't even a cut version at all since Germany does not get one - and you don't even have to worry about what languages to include on the disc for a Steamworks game.

I just hope I will be able to activate my copy from Austria in Germany. From what I've heard Deep Silver said so, but now I am not too sure anymore.

watching the IGN first 45 minutes thing it looks like Kicking: The game of the foot action

bizarre since they seem quite hot on it, but then play it by cheesing it in the weirdest most boring way possible.

I wish I had more than one friend interested in this game.

Going to be playing on PS3 probably just the two of us, should still be pretty fun though.

Cant really judge netcode before release, who knows how far apart these people were and how small a pool of players to play with.

I'm still hearing mixed things about if co-op quest status is saved for everyone or just the host.

Any actual confirmation either way?

even at $34 i'm still on the fence...

will this game be heavy on the gunplay? from what i've seen its just been melee attack, run backwards, melee attack, run backwards

It is broken up into sections, each section is just very large just like Borderlands.

Weapons are there, but ammo is rare. If you prefer guns then playing as the Firearms specialist lady would be best. She has a skill that increases the amount of ammo found.

Something tells me this game isn't one that's fun to watch. I feel like the wonky look of the combat will probably be more satisfying in your own hands.

Yeah, very much like Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Neither of those games are fun to watch but playing is a different story. IGN did say it's Fallout with zombies.
