found this on deep silver's site. http://deadisland.deepsilver.com/blog.php

1. The correct version of the title is now available on Steam and fans are able to download it now.

2. Deep Silver plans to announce a “make up” to North American fans who were affected by the day 1 PC issues, stay tuned in coming days for those details as internal discussions are ongoing on our end.

so do i need to 'redownload' this thing?
Also....what do you guys think we are gonna get?

Whatever we get, it better fucking fix that stuttering. Either that, or they refund us.

Gets stuck at "Preparing to launch Dead Island..." for me. Left it 3 times maybe 10 minutes a time, verified the cache and such still nothing.

Not sure if I should re-download since I'll most likely have the same issue and just waste bandwidth (only have 130GB a month..). Guess I should just wait it out ehy?

First game I've ever preloaded off of Steam..... I want to like this, it seems like it'll but fun, but I can't play this steaming pile of shit..... last Techland/Deep Silver purchase I'll make.

Just have to say I have been playing all day on Xbox 360 and haven't noticed a single issue. Framerate is perfect, the gameplay is awesome... This game is a ton of fun, and I would recommend anyone with a 360 who is on the fence to go and buy it now!

Sort of wish I could have done a co-op run through with a buddy though.

The point being there is no proper final version. They merely at the last minute removed the no-clip and various other superficial shit and that made it blatantly not finished and called it the final version.

The game currently available on steam is the retail version of the game. There has been no indication any further "fix" is on its way...
I can't believe people bought into the "WHOOPS! That's not the right version!" line and thought they would upload a magical copy of the game that's bug free.

Yeah BULL SHIT the final, proper version is up.

The dev version they released last night worked perfectly. Now, after their wonderful patch, I can't even play it. I'm still getting the stuttering and hangups from earlier in the day, rendering it unplayable for me. Literally. Not just the, "Oh, the framerate isn't a constant 30FPS, unplayable!" bullshit, it's full-on 1-2 second freezes every 2-3 seconds.

Have you messed with the INI file at all to force some things? When I changed the filtering from trilinear to anisotropic it would freeze like that. Patched *seems* to have fixed my freezing, we will see though.

I want the dev build back, at least that thing fucking worked. Co-op and no stuttering. The game is great guys, stop fucking up.

Re-downloading it did nothing. This will be my last game from these guys.

Really sucks the PC players are being prevented from playing this game, because it really is a lot of fun.

The really bad thing is that I wasn't prevented from playing the game until they shoved out that second patch.

Yup, redownloading made it worse.

Should i wait to buy from Steam.
Is it only Steam purchasers that are messed up?
Disc bought game ok?

I want this game now but not sure what to make of it

First of all this game is broken right now, seriously, as others have said it will freeze for like 1-3 seconds very very often, often enough to be unplayable for any length of time. I fixed a permanent freeze loop by disabling the Internet Coop thing which is default to on (I play single player and it doesnt default to single player) after rebooting the computer.

OTOH, man while its working I freakin love this game, it feels right to me - like condemned, it has the visceral feel and has a nice RPG layer on top, I think when the game is fixed its gonna be one of my all time favorites.

but it is broken right now, and I cant recommend any pc owners bother with it until its fixed. I will keep messing around, but when they patch it will start a new playthrough.

Some tips to those that want to at least try the game on PC

1. Use the VSync() (or D3D overider) as the tearing is horrific otherwise

2. Dont even try 3D vision its broken as of now

3. Use kick attacks to both cause damage and knock down enemies for no stamina cost

4. Keep picking up new weapons as they break quick, use the inventory screen to assign them to the quick weapon wheel.

5. Kick zombies off ledges or into swimming pools, you can do a lot without even using a weapon/stamina

Haven't touched a thing. Pissed off at this point. I was defending this game like mad until they introduced this bullshit, because it was performing fine last night.

I bet the "make up" is some bullshit DLC that we were supposed to get for fucking preordering in the first place.

Ugh so clearly we were duped. There's no fucking way I'm playing through the first 5-6 hours again, regardless of my level. I'm just frustrated because last night the game ran well, as many are reporting, but since today on it's been awful, the small patch totally fucked my saves up..

What a complete mess. Wish I could get my money back from GMG.

Screw this, I'm off to try Space Marine. I just hit two zombies and they DISAPPEARED IN FRONT OF ME.

I absolutely hate developers who release shitty product at full price.

What the hell. Yesterday and even earlier today I could play Co op, but now I'm getting this "creating online game failed" error shit.

I am getting freezing/stuttering problems constantly on the lowest settings, and I have a decent rig that can play just about anything else I can throw at it on max settings. Awful. I'm really disappointed. I hope they fix this stuff soon.

It does, but it resets you back to the last location checkpoint, which sucks. Saves all your gear/progress though.

Figured out that it saved automatically (didn't notice the text on screen before), but didn't know that, thanks. Waiting for my friend to start the game before getting back on. I think I'll enjoy this a lot more co-op.

So far, so good though. Runs smooth on PS3, some texture pop in. Great atmosphere and I feel able but limited, and combat is satisfying and requires you to pay attention. The characters all seem kind of awful which is fine but i'm not really into the "zombie genre cheesiness" too much. What I like more is the sense of suspense of walking around an island filled with deadly zombies and the satisfaction of killing them with a fucking crowbar.

So it's safe to play? I don't want to have to restart a new save.
it'll probably restart you automatically. that's what happened to me. but you should be able to keep your items just make sure to put it in inventory first as you'll lose the stuff in your hand.

Don't pass gaas, it is your Destiny!
Ok made an nvida profile and maxed everything out, runs good now(no stuttering in the 40mins I just played). Think I was just got my hopes to high for this game, it screams rushed.

For $35 can't really complain any more, this is no left 4 dead killer thats for sure.

woah playing as the asian chick the blade specialist and wow her fury attacks are friggin awesome! do all the characters have cool effects for fury attacks?

it seems to be random whether the game gets the freezing thing, restarting the game seems to at random fix it. that isnt a great option in a game that doesnt have manual "save anywhere"

Techland developing and Deep Silver publishing - chances are high it was going to have technical issues.

There's a difference between "rushed" and "standard eastern-european PC game". That said, Deep Silver publishing indicates a low- to mid-level budget at best.

I got it for like 33 bucks at GMG after using that coupon code that was posted here.

$33 for a new game here in Australia, feels like I'm ripping them off lolol

Aside from the push ??? issue, it seems to be running fine and is quite enjoyable on the PC..

Maybe I'm just lucky.. but I didn't have any techincal issues and I've been playing for over an hour.
