Been playing solo, liking it so far in Act II, but I get frustrated at the amount I die. I am constantly getting overrun, or taking too much damage. I must be playing wrong....

Are you trying to fight every zombie you run across? The game is really about picking your battles, knowing when to stand and fight and when to run. Also, when you start getting overrun, look for a truck or something you can jump up on so you can gain some higher ground.

The one mission in the city where you have to activate the speaker system is a real pain, I know I died a lot on that set of missions.

I'm soloing as Purna and I can corroborate that a fair amount of Act 2 should be handled by running. I ended up going back and forth through it a number of times, so by the end the combat was a little easier and I could look for secrets and whatnot.

I just did the speaker activation missions, so maybe it just seems like I am dying alot more than usual because of that. It has just been pretty frustrating. Thanks for the advice.

The biggest problem I have had with Act II is the Medical area with the tents. I am not sure if it is a glitch, but I always get an infinite number of respawning Infected that come and just ruin my day. The last time I got caught in it, I had over 10 different Infected coming at me with them respawning quicker than I could kill them. I have to sprint past that area every time now.

Is it just me or is your stamina increased when you enter Act II? I feel as if I can run for much longer, I took this a hint to run away more when the infected started to pile up.

It's supposed to be like that. One of the tooltips on the loading screens actually warns of areas like this.

Having the co-op just work now without resorting to checking peoples gamertags is a revelation.

I love playing alone, but it's fun as hell to change it up and go on a bunch of quests with a group of people too.

It does, that's the only area I've really noticed it on though. ALWAYS dread it, and the one quest with the loudspeakers makes you run around there a lot.

Huh, I never saw that tip. I figured it might be right, it just seemed a bit excessive. I had run into infinitely respawning Infected before but never in that quantity or speed.

Are you abusing kick? If not, you should start abusing kick.

That spot is disappointing too. I spent half an hour pushing my way forward through waves of infected only to find that there's actually nothing there.

Yeah, I think that was the most annoying part. I kept dying and trying to push into that Medical area thinking there must be something really cool there for them to spawn so quick. But after dying like 10+ times I could not even find a single chest.

Abusing kick how? I do kick someone who is running at me to stop momentum, but when you easily get overrun very quickly you can't kick them all.

Should be able to, it's unblockable after all.

Also jump kicking is very useful.

Man, I like throwing stuff and Logan is doing good damage (just hit Act 2 and with 3/3 Mighty Throw and 3/3 Fencer he's doing 450~500 damage a toss with my shock machete) but throwing is such a goddamn pain. Retrieving weapons, dealing with weapons clipping into the ground, losing valuable orange items, damn... not sure if I can level, what, 15 more times to get righteous boomerang.

I don't like the melee in the game that much so I might give Purna a shot.

Should be more careful about story progress, I do not want to trigger stuff to early, like I just did in Act II. Not a single sidequest from the church done and it progressed forward. Sure it does not matter, but I like to clear out sidequests before the main ones.

Wait, this has me worried. Are you able to go back to areas and complete the side quests that you didn't do if you move on? I think I'm near the end of Act 2.

Yeah, you can. Just use the fast travel map. Each zone's quests will disappear from your log if you aren't in that zone, so don't worry about act 1's quests not showing up while you're in act 2.

Ahh ok makes sense, cheers.

If anyone wants to play, jump in the Steam group now, I'm playing all day :)

Seriously cannot believe that the gamesave issue hasn't been fixed. Several times I've had my console lock up while trying to load which means the save is dead.

I never turn off the system while saving but it happens anyway. Fuck techland.

After I fixed the FOV and removed the head bob I've been able to play the game without getting serious headaches. Everything had been going great for the first few hours but then I got stuck in a bathroom. The bathroom had stairs leading down to it but when I tried to climb the stairs my character would hit an invisible wall like there was a ceiling at the top of the stairs. No matter how I tried I couldn't get out of the damn bathroom. I figured I could just quit and I would load back at my last checkpoint and everything would be fine but the game decided to spawn me in a bungalow that I couldn't get out of. The only exit to the bungalow has a door that can be broken but once you break it there's a walker right there banging on the invisible door that won't let you out. I wasn't that far into the game so I started over and made sure not to quit near the bungalow with the girl that wants her teddy bear, searching the steam forums shows that other people have had problems getting stuck in that room.

Finally finished it at around 25 hours, pretty much just rushed through the last 2 Acts. I didn't play co-op at all and I finished at level 35.

+ graphics, they were amazing at times

+/- combat. It was fun for a while but not deep enough to last 25 hours, it got old very fast.

- quests. Everything was a fetch quest, an escort, or a kill ___ number of zombies. They were awful.

- launch day. The game ended up working fine but I will not excuse the launch day BS. It's simply unacceptable to send out a fucking dev build, and then cause further problems with the patches.

- relatively empty maps. The areas were massive but very little of it had anything to explore or anyone to help. Most of it was just there.

It was a pretty damn boring game overall. Not much to do in the huge world, and the quests that were there sucked. The last Act drags on forever too. I'd probably give it a 4 or 5 if I was actually reviewing it.

So I was wondering how you managed to hate this game, but now I know. You basically didn't even play it! Well, I can tell you that the game is fucking amazing. Me and my buddy have been stomping zombies all day long.

I dialed my FOV back down to 75. At 82.5, objects on the side of the screen were getting badly stretched. It's really noticeable if you look at an object on the far left or far right of the screen and then pan the camera slowly around while focusing on the object. 75 seems good though. There's a tiny bit of stretching but it's not really noticeable. I can see why the default was set at 62.5 now.

Soft. If he can attack you through the door then you can attack him through it too. Just stay slightly out of range and kick him through the door until he's dead.

The walker wasn't the main problem, the only reason I mentioned him was to note that even when the door was open he was still there banging on thin air. Even if I kill him the game still thinks that the door is closed and I can't get out of the room.

Well, I was in love with this game... PS3 version; made it to Act 2 yesterday, logged back in today to find it put me all the way back to about the mid-way point of Act 1... Seriously wanted to play this game, but totally lack the confidence that any of my progress is being saved. Guess I shelf this until further notice of a fix.

I don't do co-op most of the time, it makes games worse. But like I said in the other thread if a game is bad in single player then it's not worth playing at all.

Yep!

Spam that kick and never go in for the kill unless you know that no zombie will be able attack you while you're unleashing the finishing blow(s).

A couple of kicks followed by a nice club to the head while they're on the ground is how I finish off most zombies.

I have left the controls in Digital, but wondering if Analog is worth a try. Seems a bit weird when I switched over, but I am not sure if I should give it a chance.

How are you guys finishing the game so fast? Rushing to every objective marker while in coop? I'm playing solo, I've just hit level 32, around 30+ hrs and I just started Act III. I love walking around, soaking in the atmosphere and I almost never run away from confrontations because whenever I do, I always turn a wrong corner and end up getting surrounded.

Well I just got to Act 3, and around level 27/28amd a little over 16 hours. I tend to sometimes run, and sometimes fight, just depends on the odds and the situation. I am doing every single side quest I can though and I fast travel when possible.

Does this game have a story behind it? The graphics and gameplay look ok but it just seems to lack something...

It kind of does, its more just about surviving and figuring out wtf is going on.

Near the end now, have a question.

I'm 91% complete (Act 4) so if you're below that, this is a spoiler:
When you get to the prison, is that it? you can't go back and tie up any loose ends? I have ONE sidequest outstanding, it will be annoying if I can't do it :(

You know, I thought the same thing until I realized that no matter what happened, every encounter was the same. Might as well just avoid encounters, especially when there really aren't any rewards for fighting and you have to repair everything after 3-4 encounters.

Game starts off with a huge bang, but it really doesn't play around enough with the survival aspect of it. Could've really meant something if the food and water you found mattered, or if you could fashion your own weapons with or without blueprints (like Dark Cloud 2).

I don't know. Fantastic premise, great little game, but really needed a "hardcore mode" or something along those lines.

I liked analog, especially in one-on-one fights, but I found the difficulty goes up quite a bit in brawls involving lots of zombies.
