Probably a very dumb question: I'm trying to finish command training for every character. For most of them there are a few moves where you have to turn your back to the opponent before attacking. Quite easy for Kasumi, Ayane or Henela who have lots of moves that involve turning around but so far I haven't been able to figure out how to turn around with characters like Hitomi, Kokoro or Sarah. Any hints?

I dunno when it'll be back up, if ever. I don't work at SCEE. You have to e-mail or rabble their blog about it.

Played one match today. At this rate it's going to take me two years to get the 250 Ranked and then another year to finish the 500 simple matches. Way to go, Team Ninja. :/

And I hate playing Ranked. I get extremely nervous during the whole matchmaking phase only to be bodied hard after that. :/

It's bad, but not that bad, dude. I have like 800 matches or something just from casual play. I get matches every couple of minutes if I set everything to "Any" and don't limit the ranks I'm matched with. I'm nearly at A+ now
grin.gif

With ya about the nerves, though. Since it's so easy to make comebacks in this game compared to most other fighting games (some Marvel matches I see just look like everyone's in autopilot and the match is decided by who gets the first hit), you always feel that nagging sense that you'd win in a do-over. And then the do-over rarely comes because the matchmaking is so unreliable.

Just give me a "Fight Again" option, you sluts!

Eh, it takes forever even with Rank F-S+ as settings for it to find a ranked match. If ever. It seems to hang-up on me and continue to just search for a good 10 minutes. Unacceptable.

If they allowed people to create a room like in sfiv it would override the busted match making.

Or if they just made private matches count toward the trophies I wouldn't care. Let me play one on one nightly and have it count toward the trophies. I could get Lisa's swim suit through Survival I guess instead of sweating ranked matches that may or may not happen.

Oh god. Beat Legendary Arcade by two continues and Tina's outfit doesn't unlock. I guess the no continues thing is true. :/

I can't imagine beating 100 round survival again since it took too much luck to beat it on the PS3 version.

Yeah, I know. Both are annoying, either take my chances with the long matchmaking or luck out.

Wow, Ranked matchmaking actually gave an "unable to find opponent!"

"Disconnected from the network" despite the fact I'm still on PSN and online.

Heh, was playing some Kid Icarus online while watching for an opponent in a ranked match and for some reason I found myself going up against a Hyabusa player even though I never agreed to fight the player. Thankfully I was Hitomi in a previous match so I could use her. I ended up winning XD

So, it's not just me then? How often is it like this?

Depends on the person and matchmaking. I had one of those days but not too often. Generally I'm the one ragequitting at *Ayane spin* "PREPAR--"*quit*

Trying to unlock all the costumes is proving impossible. I can get to stage 5 or 6 without using a continue on my best character (Kokoro) but then it gets too hard. Can't even imagine survival.

You're supposed to use Charge Attacks or the Lisa combo, but I can't remember Lisa's combo for the life of me and I flub the charge-back of Hayabusa, otherwise it'd be pretty easy.

You can use Hayabusa (or LeiFang) and use his 1P+K or maybe 4 (left), it's the charge attack (down left + L2 or L in Vita), I used this move only and it was easy.

For survival, as The seks said, use Lisa combo (check YouTube).

Or you can play ranked matches.

Okay, I had a match that ran nicely. All is well. Thus far I've been going between Mila, Rig, and Sarah. I haven't run across many Ayane's yet, more Kasumi's in my world.

What's wrong with Ayane? It's not cool to quit just because you don't like the character someone chose.

EDIT: Erm, that's creepy. Within an hour of making this post, I ran into someone (not you, someone else who is an S+ rank) who quit right after my Ayane pose. Uh, thanks for the GP, dude? Maybe you're on to something :p

What's with Ayane?
Nothing that I know of. She's certainly less spammy/annoying than some of the other characters like Alpha.

Nothing like getting countered like 5 hits into a combo string. I'm starting to appreciate grap3fruit's rants now...it's definitely a serious knock for competitive play to diminish the importance of blocking (or of guessing right the first time or else you get punished for risking it).

Yeah...I noticed that. I thought it was kinda weird that you could mash out a hold multiple times within being combo'd even if you still have to guess right. You'd think they'd only give you one chance to guess right before you just have to take it, but whatevs...the amount of holds I've thrown on day 1 has pleased me.

The problem with Ayane is that they spam the PPK or whatever twirl into a jumping double-kick move. EVERY. DAMN. TIME. Especially in the one-bar connections I've gotten.

It's the same with Hayabusa and that 4P+K charge move. They use that or the teleport spam.

Hi. Just came to post that due to my poverty I can't afford this game right now. But I do have it on PS3 due to PS+ so If you guys wanna play just add me.

CRAZY_SPIRIT.

Just say You're from GAF ;)

Do sidesteps really work though? (Granted I've only had it a day, but...)I've found it more useful to just find to moves that causes your fighter to sidestep as part of the move. They just *seem* to sidestep farther.
Some moves track, rendering sidestep useless. But you could indeed use moves that begin with a sidestep already (like Bayman's roll dodge thingy) since they give extra sidestep distance.

Regular ol' sidestep is perfectly fine for avoiding the Hayabusa charge/teleport moves though.

Interesting design choice. I dunno if I'd leave it like that or reverse it. Likely better the way it is.

I'm not sure about Ayane but many combo strings can have the timing of the button presses varied slightly to make it extra hard to be countered by a hold. Gen Fu in particular is nasty about that as most of his good attacks hit mid but can be delayed or sped up slightly to really throw you off.

Kinda hard to do when most moves track, eh?

Speaking of tracking: I didn't know Hitomi's 66KK(K?) was untracking. Had a Hitomi mirror side-step to bait me with that to counter attack. Still won, but it was close.

Also ran into a Bayman 3-4 times and won against them despite them using the side-roll hold counter (that can be stuffed with a 3K or 3P IIRC) to good effect on me. Threw me for a loop. Gave them some tips and they wont he first two rounds but then I came back from behind in the last set against them. Called it a day (since I'm downloading the Sam DLC for Metal Gear Raiden) but I hope I run into them again. One of the few on ranked to pick their main (the character in the status screen) and seemed decent for a beginner. Had a solid juggle combo and counters down in 1-bar lag. Amazing.

Just spanked a few Ayanes online higher ranked than me because they were just mashing punch and kick and hoping for a combo. I'm no great shakes but at least I know what the Hold button's for!

Kokoro is like this. A lot of her best attacks are mid as well.

Run into Jill in matchmaking a few minutes ago. Doesn't want to play me. GG.

I never decline a match unless it's a lagger I've encountered previously.

The game seems to punish you anyway - the matchmaking is so screwed up that you just end up being matched with the same person ad infinitum until you decide the lag (or whatever else) is worth it just to get a game in.

No, he matchmade me in ranked. I was about to start the game since the matchmaking takes FOREVER so I wasn't holding the system and he went back to searching. Lame.

Also just ran into someone that basically kept the game at loading. Had to quit and restart the game. Double-lame.

I'm getting closer and closer to breaking my Vita over this. Constantly losing ranked matches is very infuriating
Especially when it glitches and matches you with an S+, only for the opponent to show up as an F rank, resulting in 1000+ GP loss when he kicks your ass.

It's happened like three times since I got the game.

Solution: Get the 250 ranked for the outfits and then play Simple Match exclusively. Much less tension and you can rematch people if they want to rematch.
