Unfortunate to see Shimbori leaving Koei Tecmo, since it suggests he was either fired or forced out by being told he'd spend the rest of his career at the company in the basement doing menial work on forgettable pieces of software. Many of the decisions that hurt DoA6 likely came from above his pay grade, but Shimbori did a poor job publicly managing everything around game, which raises questions on how effective he was handling things internally.
I still expect we'll see another DoA fighting game this generation. The question is did Koei Tecmo learn anything from DoA6 or will they triple-down on the various concepts that turned the game into a garbage fire?
