Dead Rising 2: Case Zero |OT| A Taste of Whats To Come!

Finished it with a D rank.
Restarted and hopefully I can properly finish it now.
Well worth the five bucks, but I won't be buying the full product if the framerate is this fucking terrible. It's sapping away a lot of my enjoyment.

Actually it did slow down during cutscenes and textures are pretty low res. You should probably just stay away until the PC version comes out.

Combine milk + snack in the diner and you get a food item that gives quickstep(boosts speed significantly). Frame rate chugs though.

What do I have to mix in order to get quickstep?

Oh shit, was still on the last page when I replied. :lol Thanks

ahem, it was pretty fun but like others have said if the framerate is going to chug like the demo then happy person this game does not make.

Didn't like Chuck's "discovery" of Queen's... would have preferred he just stepped on it and figured out from the results.

That whole scene plays out like Chuck knows exactly what will happen when his steps on it. He lets the zombies get closer then steps on it. He's not discovering anything. Players who haven't played Dead Rising are the only ones getting a clue here.

I think I must have been playing a different version of the game from everyone else. Framerate was smooth for me.

It certainly dips below 30 pretty frequently. It's playable, but it sure not what I would like it to be. So tempted to get the PC version, cheaper and better performance. But then I wouldn't be able to play co-op with my 360 owning friends or transfer my Case Zero progress over. Here's to hoping that Dead Rising 2 will have a more improved framerate.

Played through this last night a couple of times to get the A ending, really enjoyed it. Time management is still there and the three save slots is a good compromise for the people unhappy with the originals system. Didn't have any issues with escorting survivors either. Really didn't know what to think of the game before this but now I'm really looking forward to it. Good stuff.

I never played DR. After playing a bit of Case 0, I assume it's better to run past zombies instead of killing them so I won't run out of time...

Pretty much. Most of the time you can completely bypass them.

That's exactly it...there isn't a lot of babysitting anymore with the survivors either. In the first game you'd have to give them a weapon so that they would be able to defend themselves..this one I have no issues just running around zombies on the sidewalk. Once you figure out the distance you can pretty much juke them. Once you know everything you have to do, you don't even need to do run at all. Just don't be scared to restart and it's a good idea to make a simple spiked bat every time you run back to return a bike part.

That is the idea, yep. But just in case you do need to kill them, you can take your trusty MOOSEHEAD and show them who's boss

Has anyone seen any gameplay videos or solid info from the PC version of dead rising 2? I want to get it unless there's some glaring reason why it's worse, i just haven't seen anything about it yet.

These were in the original game. Same way of pulling them off too. =/

What's S-Rank? How could you possibly do better than A-Rank?

man that was 4 years ago - i can't remember everything!

i'm thinking about picking the first game up again to refresh my memory on some of the finer details.

although doing this will make me sad that there won't be a camera in DR2 :(

What's the best way to go about killing 1,000 zombies?

i did it mainly using broadswords and queens. wasn't really able to do much else during that run-through tho.

I found paddle+chainsaw combo and rake+battery to be pretty effective, the broad sword in the hunting store is good for taking down large groups too and don't forget the queens. I managed to kill 1000 by 2PM game time so it's not that difficult to get the 1000 and still get the A ending.

Yeah, the framerate is horrible. Hopefully they fix that along with the long load times in the retail game.

Still a great game though. Was pretty skeptical about this game from the start, but it looks like Blue Castle (and Capcom? It seems Capcom has their own small set of designers and producers working on it, judging from the credits) know what made the first game awesome. Looks like DR2 is going to be a worthy successor to one of the few classics of this generation.

Too bad they gave in to the whiny babies who complained about the save system though. Can't win them all I suppose.

What I did was get the paddlesaw, kill 60 zombies with that, and pick up whatever queens I could find and then use them all on the giant crowd of zombies by the gas station. Once you wipe them all out you can go to the quarantine zone if you still have some queens left over, but it might just be faster to reload the zone. You should be able to get 200+ kills each time you reload, so it shouldn't take very long.

Don't forget the boomstick! You can kill up to 5 zombies at once with one shot. It's awesome in large groups of zombies.

The shotgun by itself is great too. Pick up 2 shotguns, use them until you have 1 shot left in each. Build 2 boomsticks, and voila, you have 30 new shots for each one. Makes the whole thing really easy.

EDIT: Also, don't forget that everything respawns (that includes all the money in the casino) when you go in to the gas station and back out again.

Keep a couple of queens on hand and head on over to the gas station near the fuel tank. You'll easily kill 50+ zombies with one queen. Look for similar spots all throughout Still Creek.

Where do I find queens? I've only seen one and I forgot where already.

Two juices mixed together=nectar. Drink it and kill Zombies they will come.

Don't understand where everyone is complaining about framerate issues. I didn't have this problem.

Had a few issues here and there, but nothing killer. The loading however gots to be fixed for retail.

This. It's not hard or too time consuming. Just carry a nail bat and some health just in case you crash into something and get bombarded with zombies.

Just look for the zombies looking like they are scratching their heads (or trying to)...kill them and you will get a queen.

The load times were kinda long I agree it just seems like everyone is stating the game was having frame rate problems and I never saw them. I have a new xbox but I'm not sure if that matters or not.

I feel the same way, I was doing all kinds of craziness and it didn't seem to dip on me.
The load times did get to me from time to time, 1 took like almost a minute or so.

edit: I have the new xbox too :/

Hmm, same here. Those that had FR issues state your HW.

There always seems to be a queen at the main entrance of the building where Bob is sniping. Every time I gathered parts needed for the bike, that same infected would always spawn with a queen buzzing about.
Btw $100,000 could be done in 2-3 runs. Gemini will give you $15K for the first rescue and I believe $20k for retrieving the gems by the yellow car near the quarantine zone.

I'm running on the RE5 edition 360 Elite, which is the Jasper chipset and I have definitely noticed some frame rate drops. Nothing game breaking for sure, but they are there.

I've started and stopped a couple of games so far, pretty good stuff. In my last game, Bob (dude on the roof), wouldn't tell me about the
people behind the department store who you trade the broadsword to for their bike part until after I had given my daughter the Zombrex.
Ended up running out of time while making my way back to the safe house. I guess I'll just jump back into a new game with my level 3 Chuck, but stuff like this has got to be ironed out when the real game ships.

Don't know for sure because I haven't done it yet, but 1,000 zombies seems easy as hell with the moosehead. You could probably do the same thing with the cart if you don't rush.

Just a heads up, those 2 show up after 3PM.

I wouldn't call any of the framerate dips "problems" though. It's definitely not locked at 30, but it's fairly consistent. I haven't come across any parts where the framerate was affecting the actual gameplay.

In my past playthroughs they always did. I checked the department store multiple times and all Bob would say was that he'd let me know if anything was up and to keep an eye out for his kid.

Moosehead seems to break pretty quick, unless there's a magazine to increase its durability I'm missing.

IEDs and Queens are definitely best for 1000.

360 S 250GB. There are definitely framerate problems in this game and it's not just on some consoles.

Yea, I'm usually pretty sensitive about FR(obviously noticed some dips around heavy zombie killing areas) which is weird and even weirder with some that seem to be having it and others not so much.

Just finished it with the A ending. I'm a bit confused. Weren't Capcom saying that this would tie the first game to the second? Did I miss something here? :lol
Aside from Microsoft funding I see absolutely no reason why PC and PS3 gamers should miss out on this content. It requires zero knowledge of the first game.

Again really dug the game, even the clunky as hell boss fight.
It really doesn't bring anything new to the Dead Rising franchise, but that's fine because Dead Rising was great. I just hope they can get the performance sorted in the retail release, otherwise I'll be waiting for it to hit bargain bins.

Also for those wondering I'm sporting a very oldskool 20GB 360, twice refurbed...
