Frame rate problems are bumming me out big time. Whenever I'm outside the game starts to lurch. Running a launch console with 250gig harddrive here.

So I go scrounge around for some cash to buy a Zombrex for the girl in the quarantine zone. I buy it and head over. I give her the Zombrex. I now have zero Zombrex in my inventory, WTF. Gonna give it a couple days and try again, very annoyed. Still need to kill 1,000 zombies, spend $100,000, build all combo weapons, and escape Still Creek for the 200/200.

You didn't buy it, you paid the guy and left it there in the floor :lol It might still be there.

Been playing it for most of the day, and I gotta say I'm getting very pumped for the full game. Seems like they pulled it off.

don't feel bad I too have the 20gb 360, just waiting to see what kind of deals are available around or after christmas then I will possibly upgrade, I just always figured why mess with a good thing (working launch 360 never RROD knock on wood)

well i swear at some point in the development DR2 was used as showcase for MT Framework 2.
Oh well, that must have changed.
Capcom wanting to keep their tech for themselves doesn't make much sense to me, didn't they say they would sell MT to other companies at some point ?

Framerate does suffer noticeably in places, but I wouldn't say this looks worse than DR overall, technically at least: IQ seems better, with less/almost no aliasing, more 'physics' applied to dead/undead bodies, larger areas and possibly -not sure, but it looked like that- dynamic shadows going with day/night cycle. I am also inclined to believe Case 0 is a bit rushed and i am sure DR2 will be better optimized and more polished. Wishful thinking maybe, but even with its flaws (worse being atrocious load times) the demo did a great job at making me interested in DR2 again. It was kind of suffering from the Bioshock syndrome (really loved the prequel, had absolutely zero interest in the sequel for whatever reason) but it's in my must buy list now. I'll miss Frank and taking pictures though. Then again maybe these guys have a couple surprises for us...

I think the first time I stabbed a shower head into a zombie and stopped to take a picture was pretty awesome. Hopefully the camera comes into play at some point in the sequel.

Launch console? Sounds like a perfect candidate for some zombrex. :lol

Just 200/200. Love it. Can't wait for PS3 DR2 to get my fill... :D

Did a playthrough and half so far. Well worth the 400 points and looking forward to playing through it atleast another two times. I haven't noticed a framerate issue, what are you guys usually doing when it happens? Like I said, only played through it once and was pretty much a pacifist. During this second playthough i've been messing around with the combo weapons and have to say the shotgun combo weapon is my favorite.

I tried to rescue all the survivors on my second playthrough and ignore the bike parts but ROB never alerted me to them after the couple in the dinner which made me mad.

What is the minimum i have to do access them all?

Also, i made every weapon but still only have the greyed out combo cards. Is there a kill or create limit i need to reach?

It never comes into point.

Am I the only person who isn't experiencing framerate issues?

I have some graphics related complaints but the framerate has been solid. Only time it wasn't was when I was screwing around with the IEDs and huge zombie crowds, but that is expected.

Beat it twice yesterday. One thing I noticed is they brought back the 'special' survivor death cutscenes but they seem less violent than the first one.

It took 4 years but I felt I got my $5 worth for this.

Almost got every achievement. This will be the first game I bother to 100%. I was reading and saw some news from two weeks ago about the PC version being delayed, but Steam is listing it at September 28th? Is there still no solid word on when it will be released or is that now the date?

Where can I get the oar?

And also, here is some gameplay from the full game, framerate seems MUCH better in this!!!!

I do really miss the motion blur though :(. Goddamnit Capcom, at least let them use MT Framework for a damn sequel which sold pretty damn good. What's wrong with these guys huh?

Damn it, why can't the I.E.D. or Moose Head fit in my back pocket? :lol

There's a magazine in the sporting goods store(?) that gives combined weapons 3x durability, but it doesn't seem to make that much of a difference to me though. It would be nice if it added more ammo to the Shotty-Pitchfork weapon.

The air horn (spray can + traffic cone) is kind of lame. You have to stand very close for it to be effective.

The drill bucket wastes too much precious time to... waste... time... on. Decent for PP I suppose.

Besides the terrible load times, great game. I'm hyped for DR2.

You know what's great? The fire extinguisher.. Try it!

Any tips to beating Zed the mechanic? I have a save right before him and lost the fight twice and I don't want to deal with the constant loading of all the cutscenes too many times. Just want to beat him and mow down more zombies.

Both my 360s are launch consoles and neither have had any problems. I'm dancing with death.

Actually, it gives extra durability to the items that can be used in a combination, i.e. baseball bats, nails, chainsaws etc, but not the actual combinations themselves.

Load up on assault rifles and a carton of OJ for health. There are 2 AR's in the gunstore and more in the quarantine area.

The oar is laying on the ground at the right side of the first building as you come out of the garage (to the right of the sheriff station).

This game's frame rate is terrible. It's got that PS2 GTA 25 FPS tops thing going on at all times.

Like I posted above, in the videos of the full game the framerate seems to be GREAT!

This has risen to the top of my must buy list next to Reach right now after watching some new videos on youtube.

Over 500 + items to wear, lots of new item combinations ( a robot teddy bear + machine gun = sentry bear :D :lol )

That's because they're probably taken from the PC version.

The game needs like a 50% performance boost to be able to manage a steady 30fps, its just way off from being decent atm. You're setting yourself up for major disapointment.

Edit: What are those blurry PS3 videos proving? The game's tearing like a bitch in them.

What are you even talking about?

In this video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-woQby6Yhc

Ps3 version, you can see by the D-pad, that it's the Ps3 version. And it's blurry because it's from Gamespot, and then put onto youtube. There's also no tearing that I saw at all as far as I saw.

After that I watched a video from G4TV Live from E3, the dude was playing with a 360 controller and no framerate issues in sight. Nothing as bad as in Case Zero anyway.

Well I saw tearing but the video was damn near unwatchable so its pointless to draw conclusions.

The bolded statement tells us nothing of the tested platform, the PC version will use the 360 controller and will have all the same button prompts.

Now, I'd love for the performance in the final game to be so much better, but, sorry I'm just not quite as naive as that. There's basically no precedent for it, and I'm not holding my breath. Its the same engine on the same hardware and considering they're releasing so close together there's nothing indicating there'd be a huge performance discrepancy between the two.

The performance in Case Zero is ridiculous, I can't remember playing a game with a framerate that bad in a long, long time, its going to take a huge overhaul of the engine to get it to a steady 30fps. At this point I'm worried about the PC version as well, its a potential lifeline but its hardly a sure thing given the developer's pedigree and the shitty performance in the 360 version.

You were doing this same shit in the Mafia 2 demo thread as well and nothing changed there, I don't know what gives you so much confidence this time.

The game is totally playable. Instead of worrying about framerate so much you could be just playing the damn game. Just got the A ending with a sliver of time left. I literally grabbed the last two survivors as time ran out. So hyped for this game.

Give the Zombrex to Katey with an IED equipped, then throw it near him as soon as the fight begins and shoot at it. Should take about 1/3-1/4 of his health.

Otherwise, yeah, orange juice/beer hat and assault rifles are the way to go. Boomstick is useless, you can't do the poke->shoot animation to him and going into aim mode will only allow you to throw it.

Someone please tell me your stats get automatically saved and you don’t have to manually save the game to keep them. My 360 froze and I had tons of PP and money! : (

Damn near unwatchable? Let's try not to use any unnecessary hyperbole here ( and I know I do that a lot, but still ). How is it unwatchable?

I didn't play The Bigs, but how was the performance on that one on Ps3? And can I get some more people in here commenting on these youtube vids? To me they look to be running much better than Case Zero, even the Ps3 version ( which can't be from PC as it shows the Ps3 controller's D-Pad on the screen ).

Who knows why the performance in Case Zero is bad ( yes the framerate is bad, but I am still very much enjoying the game ), but looking at these video's from last E3 and upwards, performance seems improved to me. Maybe they had less time to work on Case Zero? Maybe the outdoor enviroments are harder to handle for the engine ( couldn't see why not, but it's possible )?

And what exactly am I doing in the Mafia II thread? In my personal opinion, yes there is some tearing in that game, and yes the framerate dips but the game still looks great on my tv and Mafia II is pretty damn amazing if you ask me.

Hmm. I'm pretty anal about framerate but Case Zero seems fine to me. Like a few dips here and there, but nothing crazy bad. Maybe it's not a consistent problem?

I think the framerate is pretty bad, not unplayable, but just not consistent at all. I love the gameplay enough that I can overlook it, but sometimes the framerate dips so low, it's just really noticeable to me. Maybe it is just a Case Zero problem and Dead Rising 2 will run at a higher rate, but I won't be holding my breath for that one.

Would really like to hear about the PC version and how it differs from the console versions though.
