Dead Rising 2: Case Zero |OT| A Taste of Whats To Come!

Only 1 achievement left, 'Kill 1000 Zombies', asuming they are cumulative maybe 1 more playtrough :D
It's not, but if you just focusing on killing zombies on one run without getting distracted the achievement doesn't take that long.

Nah its not cumulative. Get the shotguns, rifles and broadswords from the hunting shop and go crazy. Goes quick.

Case 0 was great, I'm glad to see the aiming system was improved on.

My God, Moose Head has got the be the greatest weapon of all time. it's just too sweet.

Can't wait for DR2! I loved the first one so much, even with it's flaws, it's just such an addictive game. So I have high hopes for the second. Especially after C0. :D

i dont know how much has been released but whats the story going to be in the "real game"

Chuck is accused of being the cause of the outbreak in Fortune City - Military is coming in 3 days to get him. He works with a reporter (Rebecca Chang you hear on the radio in Case Zero) to find the truth / source of this accusation. All while participating in "Terror is Reality" show to earn money to buy Zombrex for Katey. Also saving any survivors, etc.

sounds really fun

I'm so tempted to get this. How are the controls compared to the first game. I remember trying the first game out, but I could never get used to the controls and the time system. I know the time system is in the game still, but are the controls the same? Even if it is I think I'm still getting the first Dead Rising used, along with Case Zero. I just love killing zombies, it's so cheap, and I just need to man up and get used to time objectives.

EDIT:
What is this listing?
Trial Game - Trial Game - DEAD RISING 2: CASE ZERO
http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/g...-9115-d80258410a8d/?p=1&of=1&bt=0&sb=1#offers

It didn't cost anything, and is the same size as the regular Full Game, this one was just under Game Demo tab.

It has to be because I bought two Zombrex on my last playthrough which only cost $25K and it popped.

EDIT: nevermind thought I read the 100k achievement. Carry on.

There is an actual trial for this, its not pay-only. You can only play up to getting the Zombrex in the Ambulance though (which is really- really early). You can probably mess around to get a fee lfor the game from the trial, though.

Cool! I figure that's a good way to get a feel for the controls quickly.

Quick question, how does game time correspond to real time?

Mopped up the 200/200, very satisfied with my $5 purchase. Any deals on for DR2 on console? Hoping Dell does a $40 sale for launch or something.

One minute is approximately three seconds.

Dont forget you can still run back in the safe house and look for items while fighting him.

I beat him about five minutes after rage posting, and this turned out to be what I was missing :lol Once you realize this, it's actually a simple boss fight - if you try to play it straight and don't have any healing items on you (like I did), you get destroyed repeatedly. Silly me for thinking that there was a trick to it other than playing a war of attrition.

Finished it. Good fun. The
driving section
at the end was horrid, though.

Also, what the fuck is with no voice acting for the survivors? It's 2010 and this is a Capcom game. :\

Yep, I was disappointed by that. Seems a bit lazy and it's certainly preferable to listen to them rather than read as it takes your eye off the game while there may be zombies around you.

i dont mind the surviors not having voices because a part of me loves how weird the game is in terms of how the missions are structured and how you need to find a bathroom to go and save ( unless you just finsihed a mission)

"A" ending 200/200 4 play throughs. (My 2nd ever complete game :lol ) DR2 wasnt even on my radar but Zero was a sweet way to put DR2 on it. Well worth the $5 :D

Why does this game have to be Region Locked ? I simply cannot buy it

if you ever want to buy games, maps or add on DLC you have to do it as soon as they upload it, that's what I always do and works every time.

eh, you can just ignore the case files and spend hours going about killing zombies and exploring in the trial. the trial is really sizeable.

just don't go up to the blockade and you're fine.

Beat the game again and got the A rating. I feel like I didn't finish everything so I'm a bit surprised. Is there an S ranking maybe?

After all to get the handlebars, instead of
finding the key to the gun shop and getting the sword for those dudes I simply killed them because I was running out of time.
You'd think the game would penalize me for that in some way?

Also I didn't find the
guy on the roof's daughter
.

One odd thing is that I swear the rake and the shotgun were combinable. After all isn't that what the boss has? It wasn't working for me.

Is the skillup you get when you level completely random? If I start a new game, can I level up from 1-5 again and hopefully get better skills?

I've gotten - 1. throw distance, 2. attack power, 3. jump kick so far.

Would prefer run speed and inventory upgrades to start...

pitchfork, not rake. i'm not sure about bob's daughter, haven't found her yet myself.

Spoilers about Bob's Daughter.

After you beat the psychopath boss, go out and go up bob's roof. He'll tell you that het has found his daughter. This is the only chance you get for rescueing Bob and his daughter. So make sure you assembled the bike by then, if you want to finish the game with the good ending and all survivors saved.

Yeah, I found it to be one of the most meaty trials around. The whole appeal of Dead Rising is dismembering hundreds of Zombies and you get to do that impeded in the trial with access to a nice range of weapons.

I spent around ~1 hour or so with it on my first run through.

I hate him with the passion of a thousand suns
Bring shotguns and/or assault rifles and one orange juice. Shouldn't be too much trouble killing him. There is also whiskey lying around during the fight if you need more health.

The trial game is very short, and it does not give you anything decent to play with. It's put me off purchasing it actually.

you can explore all still creek, just don't go to the quarintine zone.

You don't get penalized for killing survivors. That's just the way it is. You're chuck greene and anything goes.
the penalty is just potential lost side missions and PP.

so, which costumes modify which weapons?

i found one so far...

dressing up in the nurses outfit changes the knife heavy attack to a psycho over hand stabbing complete with strings

i presume other outfits modify other complementary weapons (red neck outfit plus chainsaw perhaps?)

The weapon does that for me always, I haven't even found the nurses outfit.

Still have to complete this, I forgot how much of DR is memory and timing.

It was 7:31pm at the safe house, I set out to rescue the
3 girls, one of which needed a Zombrex. Taking them back to the safe house, I stopped off at the pawn shop to get another Zombrex, took the survivors back, talked to Katy, realised I had FORGOT TO PICK UP THE ZOMBREX OFF THE FLOOR!, ran back to the pawn shop, bought another (and picked it up!), back to the safe house, I made it to the door of the inside of the gas station and turned to walk a few steps to Katy when it hit 8pm and got the cutscene F ending
FUUUUUUU! :lol

Literally 2 seconds more time I would've been OK! :lol

i lost a zombrex by forgetting to pick it up too on my first play through. didn't have enough money for another but i hadn't got the diamonds yet, so i ran back with those and handed them over right before 7pm.

the cutscene hit for 7pm and when it was over, the vegas woman was gone, and i didn't get my money for the diamonds. in desperation i tried to farm the casino but i didn't make it in time.

F. got the A on my second play through though :)

I downloaded and played Case Zero a bit earlier... and wow, this is a rather substantial downgrade from from the original Dead Rising in terms of visuals, especially considering it's been four years since the first one came out.

It really lacks a whole ton of polish... Tons of texture pop-in, weird graphical glitches, very low framerate, awful, ugly shadows. The textures are super low-res as well. While I was downloading Case Zero I played the first game, and it's crazy how much much better it looks than DR2.

I love the first game, but I remained cautiously optimistic about Dead Rising 2. It's really too bad they had to switch engines, because this new one they are using sucks pretty bad. I was planning on picking it up on Steam... but I dunno. Is there any footage anywhere of the PC version?

You have to remember, this is an arcade title and they had to pack and compress portions of a full game in a such a small DL. This game file size is smaller than than Shank.

The full game will be much better.

I doubt it. Small area = small size. Anyway, I don't see how more space is going to improve the performance and those god-awful shadows. If anything, increasing the quality of the textures will further reduce the framerate.

That doesn't really matter, though, as I'll be buying the PC version if I buy it at all. I'm just hoping that higher-res versions of the textures even exist.

200/200 and I got Ending A one of the runs. I'm done:D Looking forward to Dead Rising 2 now. Co-Op is the big feature that has me excited.
