Dead Rising 2: Case Zero |OT| A Taste of Whats To Come!

If so where can I find the
construction hat and paddle

Get the Construction Hat by climbing from Bob’s spot up to the upper roof level beside it. Look for a bridge that leads to another building – you’ll find the Construction Hat to the left, in the corner. It’s the only one.

There’s only one Kayak Paddle in the game – right outside of the safe room, check the right side wall of the boarded building across the street. It’s the one with the van in front, the one you find Dick on top of.

The Dead Rising clock is what makes the game so strategically fun. You have to plan out your route and when to do certain thing. It's like a action strategy/sims game in some way.

However, I think the game can be created with the current time-intensive moment with the do-whatever-fuck-around moment. They just need to get rid of the overworld clock (3 days as in the first game), but have multiple missions that are linked together that once you initiated one of them you have to do them all within a set amount of time.

That way, we can fuck around the world when we don't begin a mission, but once we started a mission, a chain reaction/missions will be initiated and we have to push along with the clock. Then we can have the urgency to plan strategically but still be able to play around in the open world.

If you start off immediately by unlocking everything you save tons of time. Like when it's time to go get the handlebars, you already have a Broadsword from your visit to the Hunting Shop. I wrapped everything up on my 2nd playthru (Level 5) by 5pm at least. I had to sit on my thumb until the next events at 7. Or grabbing the engine from behind the theater before heading off to get Gemini to kill two birds with one stone.

Cleaned up all achievements, got ending A... satisfied, want more, drooling... only a month left.

If I loved the original, will I love this little adventure? I plan on playing DR2 at some point regardless.

I was unsure, but at $5 I said fuck it and bought it earlier today. A few friends came over and we played it for 5 hours straight while smoking hookah. We died 3 times in the 5 hours it took to beat the game, and restarted the story each time. It's worth every penny, as I'm sure I'll be playing again tomorrow. We got an A, but I'm interested to see the other endings - not to mention kill more zombies with the
moosehelmet
.

Oh and did anyone else notice the sound effect/music when you use the alt-attack with the Chef Knife? I laughed damn hard when I realized what it was from.

Finished Case Zero A ending today, and it was a fantastic delicious entree that has left me thirsting for more (huge DR1 fanboi here).

I have questions though:
Wasn't this supposed to bridge DR1 and DR2? Wasn't it supposed to link Frank West to Chuck Greene? And what about Carlitos 50 walking ticking timebomb infected children distributed across the US? No mention of it? It's clear from the Case Zero story that Chucks daughter is not one of them (she's not an orphan to begin with).

I think everyone thought it was going to link DR1 and 2 but it ended up being just a prolgue, still I have a sneaking suspicion we will see frank again.

I figured the Vegas outbreak was caused by one of the orphans. Also one could have caused the outbreak in Japan, if Dead Rising Sun is canon or not.

Quick story question: Was Fortune City already founded by the time of the Las Vegas outbreak, or was it created afterwords?

Ah, it's such a delightful little piece of zombie slaying, survivor saving action. I actually love the fact that once you've played it a few times you're able to just blow through the case segments in no time flat. It leaves you with a lot of time to mess around which - in game where time is factor - is great. :D

EDIT: Have people seen the PAL steelbook on Amazon? Weird...

Yeah, Case Zero is awesome and got me super excited about the upcoming Dead Rising 2. I'm looking into buying the Limited Edition but it seems like us Europeans aren't able to purchase it. Are there any European webstores that sell it or am I out of luck?

I caved in and bought this. The framerate is HORRENDOUS. I'm not a snob for framerates, but it looks seriously ugly in motion. I appreciate there's a fuckton of zombies but man, if it got a bit better performance out of the game they shoulda cut down the numbers a bit.

That's mostly a non-issue for me, since I'm buying the PC version which will hopefully be a lovely solid 60fps, but since I paid £5 for this I feel like I have the right to complain.

The rest of it seems a lot like Dead Rising now, which is cool. I'm glad they didn't scrap the time mechanics and the story has me interested. I've only got one bit of the bike so far so I'm not that far in, but I expect I'll finish it tonight.

The town seems a bit bare, though, at first glance. Nothing compared to the mall. I expect Fortune City will make up for that, however, so I'm not overly critical of it.

Okay, so am I the only person who is finding the final boss to be TOTAL BULLSHIT?

What am I missing? Why is it that he can shoot me no matter what I'm doing and I can't seem to hit him for shit?

Why don't you put on a skirt. You girl.

Got Ending A last night on my second play through. Going to be doing at least two more probably. Definitely worth 400 points. Do we know how Chuck and Katey get from Case Zero to DR2? There's a huge time gap there so...Do we know anything?

Also, glad to see Co-Op confirmed.

get an assault rifle, a shotgun and a broadsword from the hunting store, apart from 2 orange juices and he will be small time.

Using the fire extinguisher to freeze the zombies and then shatter them with another object is so satisfying! <3

Also.....I can’t seem to find it anywhere, so does anyone here know where to find the farm overalls for Chuck?

They're in the hardware store, I think.

Dont forget you can still run back in the safe house and look for items while fighting him.

The alt endings aren't worth the effort, you can watch them on youtube. But if you want to replay it feel free.

Can someone tell me how I can buy this without spending more then 400 points? I hear you can do this by credit card but then your info can never be erased.

I thought he was piss easy. You can grab a sniper rifle back on the roof of the safe house and get some OJ for health. Or you could just run around and beat the shit out of him. More satisfying.

Seems a little buggy.

I hit level 5, got the jump kick, but then I died. When I reloaded the game and got level 5 again, no jump kick...

That's how it worked in DR.
Skills/ability upgrades are random.

i didn't actually know it was like this in dr1, but apparently skill acquisition is random.

leveling up seems extremely slow on my save :/

I like the game but its kinda hard o_o

(i finished dr1)

maybe im rusty

Anyone else laugh their asses off every time you combine a weapon?

Maybe it was the fact that my Chuck had a mohawk and the diner girl's dress on, but the cut scene when you combine weapons had me rolling on the floor every time it played. Chuck's smug fucking grin after he just duct taped the shit out of some stuff is golden. Also reminds me of fuckyeah.gif!

Played one more time, zipping around doing things early and in quick succession had me waiting around quite a bit, but still fun screwing around until event trigger time.

Set up a fun last save with both the paddlesaw and boomstick, prepped to see a few different endings and then reload to restore the save file with an A ending. As long as you don't get greedy (and know when to start up the paddlesaw safely), every slap of the paddlesaw rips giant chunks off the boss. Boomstick didn't do much to its originator, however.

I must say I love running into massive groups of zombies with the broadsword with the untouchable milkshake. I just took four swords with me and a shake, by the end I was just fighting the last few zombies with my fists.. With just dead bodies EVERYWHERE! :D

I forgot how much I loved Dead Rising.

Was really put off by earlier videos of DR2 but Case Zero has me day one now. Visually it's about the same as the last game but there does seem to be lot more zombies and bit more zombie variety going on as well so that's fine with me.

Big improvement I think is that the escorting of survivors is much better now. The survivors do a much better job of navigating hordes of zombies and killing them as well. In DR1 it was always a pain as they got stuck or trapped but in this the escorts really can be ignored and they will follow you without trouble and rarely get into trouble, found myself often just running through the zombies to the safe house never having to turn around to save or protect the survivors.

The game also feels much more open than DR1 with where you can go and being outside.
