No joke my friend. I did have some level of parental permission, also I monitored them closely to make sure they didn't start freaking out. They loved it and were talking about it long after we stopped playing. Of course I made sure to impress upon them zombies weren't real and it was all just pretend.

oke doke then

And if you dont care about any of that stuff
Steam Version (40$)

wait so if i want to play game in a superior fasgion i dont get all this cool stuff.
Also i wonder how much the profit margin is on premium packages. does the extra 20 bucks add 10 dollars of profit? We have a hard time nailing down how much devs make on 60 dollar games as it is.

Something tells me the publishers make out like bandits on this stuff.

It cost about 3$ for them to make the Zombrex one. So yeah its like +17$ in profit

*cough* you forgot the retailer margin *cough*

Retail takes about $5 out of that additional 20.

They've got to pack about $20 in value to the consumer (or perceived value) in costs that are about $8-10 + the $5 retail margin. If I recall, steelbook cases alone are a couple dollars in costs, so it's significantly more than $3.

They're making a little more per unit than the regular edition, but as a margin percentage, probably around the same as the regular.

Yeah, its more than 3$ but its still a good profit. But really? 3 collector edition, one without any art book or making of ? its somewhat weird...

dudes..question

are games for windows live achievements compatible with Xbox live achievements?

Yup, I played fallout 3 on my PC linked with my Xbox360 account and the fallout achievements show up on my tag and Xboxlive.com.

How could you possibly tell which was which from that video? I couldn't see any indicators as to which version was being played outside of the parts that featured 360 button prompts. As far as we know all that footage may be just from the 360 one.

I'm not saying one is better or anything like that, I just don't know how anyone could make any kind of comparison from that particular video.

You'll get achievements no matter where you buy it from.

I'm still undecided on which format to buy, gonna come down to which my friends (or largest group of gaffers) get for co-op purposes.

PC is damn tempting at the cheap prices it's going for though.

I'm sure there'll be plenty GAFers playing the PC version. With the crappy performance and ugly visuals of Case Zero and the lower price, the PC version definitely seems to be the way to go if you have a decent enough rig. Its GFWL so it'll have matchmaking as well.

I'd still like to see a demo or benchmark first but I think I'm sold, cash permitting.

I'm starting to wonder if I played a deluxe version of Case:0 or what.

It looks like the version with the better shadows is the ps3 version. In the last half of the video you see the mobile phone on the screen with the ps3 d-pad.

Don't tell me that DR2 will be sporting the same visuals as Case Ø?
Given that CØ was treated as an XBLA, I just assumed Capcom had to get it down to a reasonable file size for download.

I had a lot of fun with this game. Like most everyone else, I pulled off a 200/200 achievement points without a hitch. Having gone through the first Dead Rising, I already knew that I should probably level up a bit before moving on, so I just killed zombies like crazy while I meandered around and got a feel for the town. About 5:00pm I restarted the game and blew through it in one night.

The game mechanics seemed like a good improvement over the first game. I like the episodic format, it made the time limit easier to manage. Survivors weren't as dumb as the zombies any more. The combo cards made weapon farming enjoyable!

Technically, while the animations were impressive nothing else was. Still looked better than the first Dead Rising, but clipping, texture and model pop-in, and low-res textures were abundant. There were moments where the game looked good, particularly when Chuck was slicing zombies into little dynamic pieces, but other moments were particularly horrendous. Approaching the movie theater, the front textures would pop in where you were about fifty feet in front of it every time. About thirty feet from that corner a pile of zombies would magically appear in front of Chuck - along with the parked car. Again, this happened every time without exception.

So visually, Case Zero sucks noodles, but Dead Rising is still an amazing sandbox game. I have to ask myself if I've got my fill of zombie killing out of the XBLA release or if I will spring for the full game after all. Killing zombies and saving people in a race against the clock is still a challenge unique to this game series, and it's refreshing to see that it hasn't been dumbed down. I don't know that it's enough for me to spring for this upon release, though.

Blue castle have mentioned that the full game will look better.

And yes, I looked at the on screen button prompts to tell the difference.

I think that Blue Castle has had a number of different builds submitted and I'm still thinking we haven't seen the newest build. Case in point:

I've got some avatars, but I don't feel like doing the OT. Too much work, too little time.

If someone goes to that event and can snag me an extra shirt I'd be your best friend forever (and would pay shipping and a little extra for your troubles.)

Not to play oneupsmanship or anything, but I'll pay 15 bucks for one of those t-shirts to anyone who picks one up and is willing to ship in the US :) PM me!

According to Kotaku, Frank West is confirmed to be in Dead Rising 2. There's a blurry picture of him and Chuck ffighting zombies together on the viral marketing site.

Question is: playable or not?

Quick question, does this demo have a time limit in it? Not like a demo demo time limit but a time limit like the one in DR1.

Was there ever any doubt? He is Frank West after all.

@Alucrid, yes there is a DR1 type time system. You are going against the clock on the case missions.

Yeah, it's long enough to get some good enjoyment out of each run through though.

D-pad icons. OBVIOUSLY ;).

But seriously, 360 version looks washed out, but I'm thinking it's just a bad capture. If Case Zero doens't look washed out, there's no reason for DR2 to be.

It has to do with the capture method of the videos. Ps3 version has more contrast and color cause it seems more direct-feed than the 360 videos which has a bit more washed out colors.

This game is like everything I hate in a videogame wrapped in one...stuff on a timer, escort missions, awful GUI,useless saves,i`m surprised I haven`t seen a QTE yet :lol ...the only good thing about me getting this is that it`s going to save me 60 bucks when the game comes out... :D

Because everything is on a timer, even if you save at some points,it doesn;t really help you,in fact it can mess you over...so you need to restart an earlier save....at least there`s 3 save slots now,not like the...well let`s not get into that now about the first...

I just don`t like the gameplay of this game because of those things...can`t get use to them.

Yeah sounds like this game is not for you then, what with the sense of urgency and all.
