Im glad to see that this surprised a lot of you guys and that its getting a lot of love here.
I actually played the original yesterday after not touching it for like two years.....and whilst it does indeed overall look better (the motion blur is a HUGE loss for Dead Rising 2), the mall felt empty.
I don't know, I remembered the game having much more zombies. I suppose Left 4 Dead and Case Zero spoilt me. Another thing I noticed was that not being able to run and gun felt really wrong.
Also.....the character models in the cut-scenes still till this day look fantastic and slaughter Case Zero's! BUT, if you can look past the technical issues, Dead Rising 2 is going to be the better game.

It really lacks a whole ton of polish... Tons of texture pop-in, weird graphical glitches, very low framerate, awful, ugly shadows. The textures are super low-res as well. While I was downloading Case Zero I played the first game, and it's crazy how much much better it looks than DR2.
