Dead Rising 2 |OT|: He knows his way around a zombie or two.

Anyone wanna give me a hint where I can get some Zombrex for Katey's second dose AND the bleeding guy? I got the one off the Paramedic and I'm aware that the pawn shop sells some but I don't have nearly enough money. Or does anyone know how I can get about 17k in a short amount of time?
At one point you should get a deadline to help out a guy in a food shop that may have Zombrex on him. Normally this is well before Katey needs her next shot.

Didn't have enough money to buy another Zombrex for the bleeding guy though, sadly.

EDIT: turns out the above triggers around case 5 or so (lulz), so disregard.

Play the golf game twice, to get uhh, I think it's 15k? Beat it twice, but don't play it a third time or else you have to pay 10k..to win 10k.

You could farm the ATMs in the two casinos that connect to the food court (and the two ATMs in there as well) since they're about 5k each ATM you crack.

Or you could find one of the hidden ones like this:
climb the pyramid in the middle of Yucatan to find zombrex, just jump on top of a slot machine, then run jump the pyramid

I think there are three gambling magazines in the game, so if you had those, you could play the huge slot machines to get money (or just play TIR online, I think you get 50k even for losing)

If you can, play online multiplayer. You get lots of money for it that you can use in single player.

I just wanted to chime in and say that Blue Castle deserves a lot of credit for making such an awesome, lovable cast of characters. I completely have a crush on Rebecca! :D

Also, I love the small details in this game. Like when Chuck has a sleeveless shirt on you can see his tan lines across his arms. The game is full of awesome little easter eggs!

Just bought the Zombrex Edition. First school, then drinks, then Dead Rising 2!
Indeed, the day is beautiful.

On thing about that though, the gamerscore you get for each achievement is 20, it doesn't matter how hard or easy it is, its always 20. Why not give 10 or 5 for and easy one and compensate by giving harder ones a higher score?

DR1 was the same....

Kill 30 zombies with an umbrella? 20 achievement points.
Kill 1,000 zombies? 20 achievement points.

Rescue 50 survivors in one game? 20 achievement points.
Kill 53,594 zombies in one game? 20 achievement points.
Stay alive for 7 in game days with no saves, limited food and constantly depleting health? 20 achievement points.

:lol

Did you write this? If so, why did you say nothing at ALL about the framerate? Seems like a pretty big deal to me personally.

I hate it when reviewers gloss over framerate problems or don't even mention it at all. Did they allow you to post it before the embargo was up cause you gave it a good score too?

I will never understand this mindset for as long as I live. Who cares about the framerate as long as the game is good and it doesn't affect the players ability to play the game?

I care; Having the framerate fluctuate all over the place makes the game look awful. Just wait for comparison videos between PC and console and you'll see how much a difference a steady 30 or 60 fps brings.

I have no problem with this though.
I still remember the first Dead Rising was regarded as having the best use of Achievement back in the days.

Been looking around and can't find a clear answer, I bet it's in this thread somewhere though.

What does the player that joins someone elses game gain when playing? Achievements? Story progress? XP? Unlocks? Or does that person get nothing at all?

I think I'm specifically asking whether both players can unlock achievements, more importantly.

The Ninja pack and stuff are available for free on the 360 marketplace right now. Error?

Oh, they're required to play coop with people who have those packs. :/

For anyone with a cash problem should play Terror is Reality. You can easily get around 50k per play.
Just remember to cash out when you go story mode again.

Dunno why people don't do this, it's a hint that's given regularly during loading screens.
I already have like 200k in story mode.

Download it somewhere else onto USB then install at home? Then use that sweet sweet 5% for online goodness.

Bandwidths be damned. Downloaded it last night. Tried TiR today.... wow, got to look at a lobby waiting for a fourth player. :lol

Will be up for co-op with some peeps, but I think I want to do a bunch on my own first.

Versus?

It's Dead Rising, which imho is a good thing.

Anything specific you'd like to know? I've mainly been faffing around a lot.

I think if you liked DR1 or Case Zero, you'll enjoy this.

It's Dead Rising 1
And that's not a bad thing, the game really captures the feel of the prequel, which is something i was afraid it wouldn't. It does introduce new stuff which perfectly fits the mood.

After case zero i was surprised to see almost every item can be combined in DR2.

At first the game looks a little more 'on rails' than DR1, with less wandering around, but i'm sure this will change later, i've only just begun.

Better graphics than Case Zero for sure, but there are still framerate issues; it's not too bad since DR2 is a rather slow game.

Killing zombies is addictive

Loading times are atrocious. Co op sounds like it will be a lot of fun.

I'm mainly mucking around at the moment, just hit level 10, but I'd agree with this.

In comparison to DR1, where the only blocked part was the path between Paradise Plaza and Entrance Plaza, seems a lot more areas are blocked off initially in DR2.

Yeah there probably aren't many impressions because there's not all that much to say. I don't mean that in a negative way , if you loved DR1 you will love this, if you hated DR1 you will probably hate this. I can't imagine someone loving the first game and not liking this.

The main things that stood out to me were that there's lot of fun little minigames dotted about that give you PP and money, the map is huge, and many more weapons can be combined than Case Zero let on.

My plan was just to spend my first playthrough exploring the map, messing around and getting Zombrex but I'm at the beginning of the last day and I don't think I'm going to have enough time to explore all the map this go around.

The multiplayer is ok for what it is but will have zero longevity so I'd get those achievements while there are still lots of other people playing it.

I waited until tonight to buy Care Zero, and wow.. it's sold me on DR2. I was on the fence, but now I can't wait to get my hands on it. I'm tempted to go PC, but I don't want to have to get 5 levels back. :p

Pah, 5 levels is nothing, you can rack that up in an hour or so.

I got Case Zero (will probably get Case West as well when it's out) but opted to get DR2 on PS3 for multiplayer.

I'll probably get a copy of DR2 on Xbox when it's <$20 :lol

It was a veiled attempt to try and convince myself that I am willing to accept graphical inferiority if I will be more inclined to play it on 360 compared to PC. Because I always end up playing consoles over PC games. :(

Quick question, does anyone know how long the campaign is?

8 Hours. Same as DR1

Pandemic said:
And is it true there are a lot of loading screens? o_O

Yes, every time you move between sections of the map.

Course, if you stayed in one place, you'd probably get about 6 cut-scenes for the entire game... or if you keep running back and forth between two sections, then you could get one every minute.

I honestly don't think it is bad at all, maybe just the start is a bit annoying? (Just like DR1) but apart from that, it's fine with me.

And compared to Fallout 3 it's pretty awesome :lol

How's the pc port of this? I managed to grab Civ 5 pretty cheap so i have some monies left over to buy this if the port is up to the task.

I'm with you. Ready to put an order in to amazon as soon as word drops that PC release is solid. Case Zero perks be damned.

Can someone help me out with some things?

1.) How do I reset Chuck's clothes like how Frank could in Dead Rising 1 under the stairs in the safe room?

2.) Where do I find DLC costumes? =/

Because it's kind of cheating for the first playthrough. Beyond that though, fair game.

Plus the game usually presents an opportunity to fulfill a deadline that nets you big cash as a reward whenever you do need the money for something (like Zombrex).

Felt more like 10 - 15 hours to me. Definitely seemed a bit longer than the first Dead Rising
even without Overtime for both
, but this is when you're aiming for the real ending.

Find the save point (i.e. toilets / bathrooms / restrooms) in the safehouse area.

Go in there, and to your left you will see some lockers.

Voila.

What are you talking about?

Fallout 3 presented a massive outdoor world seamlessly to the player. If you entered specific areas, you would see a load screen, but they were no more than 2-3 seconds and used only a quick black screen. It was short enough that it could barely be considered a load screen.

Dead Rising 2 seems to routinely put up 30-40+ second loading screens when transitioning. That's just awful in comparison.

Outside world? Sure, no arguments. Despite the fact that there is bugger all actually going on.

But as soon as getting into the nitty gritty... I guess it must just be me then...

Multiple loading screens between different parts (or floors) of a single building, e.g.

Go to Megaton [Loading...], go to My Megaton House [Loading], go put stuff in the fridge, leave My Megaton House [Loading...], go to Water Works [Loading...], sell scrap metal, leave Water Works [Loading...], go to Craterside Supply [Loading...], sell stuff, leave Craterside Supply [Loading...], go to wherever I'm going in the world [Loading...]

Each of these taking a little bit and bringing up the slides, definitely a lot longer then 2-3 seconds, but nowhere near as long as Dead Rising load screens.

Please don't tell me it's some stupid setting (XBox360 & GotY Edition) or I've been doing it wrong :lol

PS: Hey, I'm not trying to start an argument or anything, it's just one of a few pet hates of mine about Fallout 3 that mars an otherwise fairly awesome game, so I'm just venting :D

Psychopath battles close to a liquor store is so fucking infuriating. Barfing animation plus bad guy animation = total frustration.

Also, every time there is fire in the cutscenes the game slows down to a crawl. WTF? :lol

Loving it though.

Spoilers for obvious reasons. You may not like what's in the spoilers. May affect your game positively/negatively. Your choice. It's not just about the psychopath.

Go to Atlantica Casino, look around a bit, and keep to the south hand wall.

You can climb up, and get on to the roof decorations (i.e. the blue spiral stuff hanging off the ceiling. (kind of like a big blue octopus) I get up there by climbing up the wall, then jumping over to the roof decorations.

Up there is a book/magazine called: Drinking (Allows you to drink multiple alcoholic drinks without being sick)

Awesome magazine. Best one I've found so far.

Let me know if you need/want better directions

For me the gamebreaking mechanics were the save system, the time limits and the sparse checkpoints. Reading a few reviews it seems a lot of these issues have not been addressed. I have heard that if you took issue with the above points then this sequel isn't really for you. Anyone played it and found these problems no longer exist? Or do they still exist but you don't mind em?

I would also like to know this, for the opposite reasons. The save system, the time limits, and the sparse checkpoints were what made the original game unique and really exciting to play. I would like to know if the spirit of Dead Rising has been retained in the sequel, or if they made the experience more generic and mainstream to pander to those complaining about these "issues". Thanks.

NYC GAF, the usual spot is getting it in later today. :)

I'm considering picking up a new Intensity Pro to start broadcasting again, too... I'm sure Dead Rising would be fun to broadcast. Hmm..
