I don't think so, you have to save them each playthrough... which makes that Achivement/Trophy as demanding as the rest of them :p

hmm.

Can you save survivors separately from the cases? So concentrate on the cases in one playthrough (ignoring survivors), and then survivors in another playthrough (ignoring the cases)?

That's what I did pretty much. For the 50 survivor achievement you have to do it in one run, but the notebook entries do carry over... there are
66
survivors you can rescue.

This is what I mean. So the survivors will turn up in the second playthrough, but they will have carried over in your logbook?

Well if by turn up you mean they will reset and become available to be rescued again, then yes. And anyone you have previously encountered will have already been entered in the notebook, this goes for psychos too. But to get the 10 psycho achievement, you would have to defeat them all in one playthrough. -

from ps3trophy:

"When you restart, the following items carry over:

* Level (All stats and skills)
* Vehicle keys
* Combo Cards and Scratch Cards
* Combo weapons created
* Clothing worn
* Food eaten
* Notebook
* Shops visited
* Weapons used

The following items DO NOT carry over, and will have to be performed in a single playthrough:

* Weapons and Inventory
* Zombies killed
* Survivors rescued
* Zombrex posters spraypainted
* Keys for areas of the game like the underground
* Shortcuts unlocked
* Katey's Gifts "

hope this helps =D

Man this replay is SUPER FUN. :lol

I just escorted another 8 survivors at once (couple trapped in fire + 4 board game nerds + Jasper and Cinda), and killed 2 psychos along the way. Lvl41 now. No more survivors out there for now, so I can make another few runs for more gifts for Katey the next time I play, before she's due for her Zombrex. With the story missions out of the way since I already failed, I have nothing to worry about! :lol

I swear I went to every single area in the game and I have yet to unlock the achievements for visiting and changing into every type of clothing.

Does anyone know of some "hidden" or "easy to miss" pieces of clothing? I've changed into the clothes during the first TAPE IT OR DIE area, so they're ones I definitely haven't missed. I don't have the Knight Boots though, do they count towards it?

Havent really noticed this to be quite honest, I try to circle around the mob of zombies so the person I try to escort will hopefully not get caught by them. But that person actually runs towards them even if I keep pressing the Y button to make him/her follow me. And then he/she gets constantly grabbed so I have to throw myself into the mass.

Or maybe I just suck, I dunno.
Are you giving them weapons?

You gotta resist the urge to babysit, it's not like the first game where they're fucked if you don't help them out every little step of the way. Just keep walking when they get grabbed, they'll free themselves and catch up with only minor damage.

Spent all day yesterday doing the kill 72,000 zombies achievement. While I killed 72,000, I let Katey turn into one and ended up getting a D rank.

Oh well, at least I'm level 40 now so I can do a real playthrough.

Tip: Hummer + vehicle magazine = ~3000 kills per trip around the strip.

I'm surprised to see people complaining about the survivors, if anything I felt they went too far in the other direction, they are TANKS. The only time they really took damage was when I'd accidentally hit them. In the original, they were a nightmare.

Yeah, this is my biggest problem with the game. The survivors are never in any danger at all. You can just pick a group up, run to the other side of the map without even looking at your survivors, pick up another one, then run straight to the safe room. You don't need to pay attention to them at all and they'll be perfectly fine.

Escorting people in DR1 was way more fun.

I didn't even bother with survivors in the original. I had no patience for that shit :lol In DR2 I'll drive the sportscar to the safehouse door, get out and skateboard to the safehouse and decide to hit the maintenance room to build a bat since the survivors are probably far behind and then I turn around and they're already there waiting for me to guide them. :lol

Does anyone know where to find the sandals (not flip flops)? I was rocking the awesome sandals/socks combo for a while in my first playthrough but for the life of me I can't remember where I found them now. Grrrrr.

they do feel like they teleport. I had the old couple - Chad and his wife - with me, and I got the motorbike and rode around killing zombies, but every time I turned around they were right there!

This is quickly becoming my favorite game of the year. Reviewers say the game gets boring quickly, but I have no i9dea what they're on about, I'm having a blast learning the layout of the game, finding all kinds of secret stuff, just generally mucking about. How the hell can you dinf this boring or repetitive. I applaud the DR series, and in this case Blue Castle games for making a great addition to the series and Capcom for keeping the series as idiosyncratic as it is. They could have easily made it more accessible by changing a lot, but they decided to keep it the way it was (the way it's supposed to be if you ask me).

Woooh getting better at it.

Level 15, just kicked the CURE guy's ass but I just noticed I can access the Chef and Slappy.

How hard are these two dudes?

Edit: the slow survivors are the worst. Any tips on how I can get them to move faster?

There's a Leadership magazine somewhere. That could help.

like the drunk woman in the casino? That was annoying as I went through to the mall and she got left behind - wonder how close they need to be to follow you (eg when can you go into the safe room)

Maybe you can pick her up?

Picking this up after work, can't wait.

Capcom will be sending you guys some complimentary thank you gift baskets for doing such a good job at making the game sound awesome. I really liked the first, but I never sunk enough time into it to see everything. I'll do better this time.

QUESTION

is it beneficial to play Case Zero first, or am I good to jump into the full game and do it later?

It worked really well to pick her and the super tanned chick up and just run. It actually feels like you are moving a little faster when you are carrying someone but i might just be thinking it.

Well it seems I was handling the survivors the wrong way after reading your impressions. Too be honest I havent given the game much time yet so maybe it was wrong from me to complain already....

How do I give the survivors weapons?

Sorry, but one more question.

Can you attach something to the wheelchair to make it go turbo speed? I'm thinking about possible item combos and that's sounds awesome.

You can start at up to level 5 and transfer over some clothing in DR2 by playing Case Zero first.

Walk up to them and push the button appears next to their name (Have PC version, forgot console controls). They won't take combo weapons and weapons like grenades.

both are fine with healing items. Slappy takes the longest. Both maybe a little bit harder than the cure guy.

Without spoiling anything for you, you can combine the wheelchair with something motor-related and then combine the result with a weapon... I did that underground, and that was awesome :D

Mind blown

Yeah, and the one in question here is insanely fun. I'm level 50 now and I wish I'd tried a lot more combo weapons sooner. I stuck with the same core ones, but some of the ones I've tried since give you ridiculous amounts of pp extremely quickly... All of which is now no use to me. Bah.

second playthrough the best time to do snowflake is right after the first katie zombrex. Make it the first thing you do after that.

Not entirely sure but there are probably some in that surf shop in the palisades mall.

As much as I love this first play through (although I restarted at around 2-2) I'm looking forward to my replay even more.

I know I missed quite a few survivors and psychopaths. So it's achievement time on the next 72 hours, and I usually don't care for achievements.

I'll probably just avoid most of the missions and psychos in my first playthrough so I can focus on beefing my dude up. I learned my lesson playing DR1, I couldn't even beat the first boss (the uzi guy at the food court) so I better get strong before shit gets real.

God I hate the High Rollers sidemission so much. I must have spent at least 2 hours on that now. I don't know how to play poker or whatever this is. I need to finish the mission to get the survivors so I have no choice but to sit through this hell.

I just hit level 30 and am going to finally do some story missions. I just did enough to unlock the maintenance rooms and then just fought psychos and rescued survivors or played co-op.

Leveling up, exploring the environment to find hidden items and building the different combo weapons, really helps to make going through the story line an absolute breeze.

Not sure if it was a glitch or not, but I beat Slappy very easily.

I lured him downstairs by getting on the escalator. Went back up the escalator. He shot his projection fireballs at me from downstairs and then got on the escalator to come back up. I got in front of him on the escalator and just beat the shit out of him as we went up. He didn't counter attack or anything. Slappy - dead. :D

These sniper dickheads are fucking annoying... :(
I finally found the gun shop, so I stocked up on my own sniper rifles. I hope I can just get behind pillars or something and pick their asses off.

No PS3 demo for this or Castlevania, wtf? How am I supposed to know that I'll like your game if I don't get a chance to play it first. No wonder I stopped buying PS3 games at launch. Ugh!

And I was really interested in it too. No wonder I ignore my PS3 so much because I can't try the games first. :(

In before someone tells me to go spend $10 on renting it from a store. Sorry, I'm not paying for something unless I'm going to own it.

I don't know if fun is the right word! But I agree escorting even a group of survivors is a breeze in DR2.

I keep having to resist the urge to grab anything on the ground that may be an obstruction to survivors, but I've never had anyone get stuck, unlike DR1 where even a plantpot was a major annoyance. Remember that flight of stairs and getting that group of girls being held by the lesbian cop all to come down to the ground floor - Oh the screaming I did at the TV because of that! :lol

This threw me for a while as well. There are actually some right at the start in the hip hop shop near the exit from the safe area. They used to be standard issue for me in DR1 but they don't seem much good in this one and you're better off grabbing a barrow or a wheelchair to get around faster.

Oh, and if you didn't know already with the annoying bastard pictured above
the leadership magazine makes him run normally like any other survivor!
. I also tried sticking him a wheelchair, but I couldn't get that to work?
