Dead Rising 2 |OT|: He knows his way around a zombie or two.

For someone who likes to get everything in one playthrough DR 2 is a nightmare :lol

But as soon as I've killed off the snipers, I'll just do the storybits, getting Chuck to level up (finally found some places for quick item runs for combo's) and giving Katey her Zombrex. I just can't let a little kid die :(

I was exaggerating, but I did go through a nail glove and a boxing glove/knife combo during the CURE fight. That motocross guy took a ridiculous number of hits though, especially when you're fighting off a massive amount of zombies during the fight. Me and my co-op buddy were searching everywhere for a half-way decent weapon.

P.S. I hope people don't think I'm harping on the game. I'm loving it, but the boss fights just made me think about the design philosophy of the game for some reason and I thought it would be a good discussion.

Well, I'm not always entering these fight from the safehouse. Plus the only useful combos there are the nail bat and the glove combos (for bosses, anyway).
Think outside the box - I grabbed two sniper rifles and a shottie from the gun store and killed the motorcross guy super easy after being annoyed with trying to melee him. Same with the CURE guy. He dies so hard to the shotgun. Opposite with spanky, who I tried to shoot from afar before taking about 20 seconds to jumpkick melee him to death.

Also, be prepared, have shit on you in your inventory that you will need later.

Seriously, I have like no space on my Hd and would love knowing if it's worth installing the game on xbox. Help? Also, where is the gun shop? I'd love a sniper rifle for the motocross douche.

I can't get enough of Terror Is Reality.

I keep playing it. The commentary is perfect, it is just the right length of time, and feels random enough that everyone has an equal chance of getting 1st place. Off to play another round...

So, I've found seven combo cards from posters in Fortune City, yet I don't have the achievement for finding them all. Is there one that's really well hidden?

EDIT: Just looked it up and, wow, that's one expensive combo card.

Two questions.

On 360, what's up with any action related to storage devices? When I select a storage device, save/load, etc. The game locks up for 10 to 15 seconds. Is this my disc or just how the game is?

Second, physcopaths. Should I simply do story missions and level up on my first playthrough, as opposed to confronting them? I just attempted to brute force through my first physco, the
cure protester
and that did not go well at all. Any strategies there?

That's just the game, not sure why it does that, but it did it with Case Zero also.

You can brute force them after you level, but for now it's best to either avoid them or make sure you're prepared. Attack them on their recovery, don't get too greedy, etc.

Yeah, that's it. Now I have to fight that damned boss again because I got sick of trying to get to dude and went to another mission and died on the next Psycho. :(

Thanks. I think I'll stick to leveling up for now, because that fight was brutal.

Posted this in another thread, but it probably belongs here too:

Had the most epic DR2 session last night. The 4 of us were trying to get all the multiplayer achievements, and quickly found out it only works in ranked mode. Cue us joining and holding games for hours until all 4 of us magically appeared in the same game. Instead of being painful, it was goddamn hilarious. Playing psychological games with the randoms joining with the READY prompt until they left will remain with me for as long as I live.

All of us got the 3 achievements each. It took about 6 hours though... Good times.

The point where Dead Rising clicks is when you realize doing everything, or even most things, is impossible for a Dead Rising layman.

If you want to do that stuff, it's like getting better at any action game. You keep playing, more and more, until you've mapped out (mentally or otherwise) your best paths.

Just won this on ebay for $36.00 + $4 shipping. Hooray.

I really loved Case Zero, it was surprisingly good. Can't wait to play this.

Not sure if this is the same guy, but you have to jump on a snack machine to get on top of the restaurant.

I think the guy you're describing is Jasper. Jared is the infected guy that you need to get Zombrex for who talks about women all the time. Jasper got it hard in the Antoine fight. :( He did help me kill him, though.

I finally found out how to equip the sports fan promo outfit that you get when you buy the game from Best Buy. I seriously wish I had equipped it earlier, because the speed boost is amazing. Chuck is at least 50% faster when wearing it. I used to occasionally get attacked by zombies when running by them, but with the outfit equipped, they're not fast enough to latch on.

EDIT: Just a heads up for people that are playing the Ante Up mission.
If you're looking to get the knight helmet from that overweight survivor, keep in mind that he HAS to be in the card game for you to receive it for beating everyone. I thought you got the helmet regardless of who was in the game, but this is not the case.

Also it helps if you pick up all 3 gambling magazines before starting this mission.

For some reason on one of my playthroughs I got the mission before I had saved very many survivors and was able to play him 1 on 1. Easy helmet! :D

Just finished the main game in co-op. Improves the first game in pretty much every important way and fixes my main gripes with the former.

This is one of my top GOTY contenders. Absolutely loved it.

Yeah, I mixed them up. Looks that was who he was talking about anyway, though. :p

I LOVE the double leg drop, it's so hilarious. Earlier I ended up beating Leon to a pulp and finished him with the kick as he drove the motorcycle straight at me. :lol

Soo, for those that are done with the game, how much do I have left:
The green gas is coming up and I'm omw to save Rebecca

I love the game, but I got some Castlevania happening Tuesday. I'm definitely going to come back to Dead Rising. I find it to be a cool game to play on PC, which I didn't expect. I bought it for the price, even though it seemed like a console/controller game. The game is sort of about finicky jumps and targeting, and the mouse and keyboard work well with it. The Dead Rising look, for me, is lots of small, detailed, clean looking items lining shelves. Having your head all up in your screen works nicely with that.

Dead Rising 1 and Oblivion were my top games of this generation for a long ass time. Now I'm thinking Dead Rising might be my favorite new series of the generation. The games work damn well with my tastes. It's a costume party, old school difficulty, weapon strategizing, abusing the system, think on your toes sort of game.

So does killing all of the snipers count as one psycho defeated or four defeated?

I wanna know because I'm trying to go for the kill 10 psycho’s achievement. :D

Each one gives a psychopath bonus, so I would assume they count individually

You are very near the end, unless you plan on doing overtime which I think throws in another day.

Hey if you leave DR2 co-op on public, does that mean someone can drop in at anytime?

Also, there wouldnt happen to be a large gamertag for DR2 co-op, like the meta tags for Reach, SFIV, etc.?

Man i was frustrated yesterday. I did 3-2, it was still in the yellow, had 2 drills left. But once you finish them you have to do the van also with no extra time. Tried it 5 times, every time i got my ass kicked (because i had to rush) or the time expired, FFFFUUUU. So i actually had to load up my oldest save file, losing 20 mins of progress. Game is still awesome though, but i'm gonna restart the storyline soon i think, just to get some air from all the rushing.

Also, found a magazine that gives a %boost on killing zombie's, what does the boost mean?

God, that ending.

*spoilers*
First off, Sullivan. So much hate for that guy. At least until I figured out how to reliably beat him. Even then, it was difficult because the game makes psychopaths invincible when they're doing certain animations. That asshole rolled around and dodged so much that I had a hard time figuring out when I could drop kick him and get him on his knees.

But by far and above, the thing that pissed me off the most were the super zombies. I don't think I've ever loathed an enemy type as much as these guys. Not so much because they were hard (even though they did take more effort to kill and shrug off when they latched on), but because of the noise they made. My game was awash in nothing but "HEEEEEEEEEAAAAOOOOOOORGGGGGGGGG!!!" for the last few hours. It drowned out EVERYTHING. One of my favorite things about the Dead Rising game is the ambience. You have all of these shuffling, moaning zombies gurgling around as your typical mall/casino music and sounds filter in over top. The irony of every day sounds and tunes accompanying the alien subject matter of a zombie uprising is awesome. But for the last few hours, I had to suffer through those god awful, annoying screams. And it's not like there were a few here and there, but every other zombie seemed to be those stupid douche bags. I didn't even want to stick around and kill zombies for fun at that point. I wanted to finish the game as fast as possible so I could go back to the normal zombies that I love to kill, sans idiotic, toilet screaming.

As far as the ending after Overtime (which, by far, was the easiest psycho fight of the game), that zombie at the very end nearly made me shit my pants. Was not expecting that.

i'm currently on my 2nd play through and going for the 50 survivors trophy but as i'm Not that far through i was wondering if it would be better to do a co-op play though and get the co-op case trophies too? how long would a straight run through take in co-op? will saving and quitting, then returning stop the trophy in some way?

i fucking hate quick time events even if they're short. they really piss me off and hurt my opinion of the game a bit.

oh and the psycho battles still blow. i was raging hard fighting (boss spoiler!)
sullivan
to the point that i said fuck it and googled that shit.

Loved the game but overtime was pretty disappointing.

In the first game it was a good chuck of extra gameplay, here it wasn't, really.

I agree. Overtime is a bit disappointing because it's not very substantial at all. But the rest of the game is just so good that it hardly puts a damper on the game. Also, the final boss fight in Overtime was pretty awesome. Reminds me of Spiderman vs Kingpin on the Genesis. :D

Just got my PC version (£18).
WTF is this shit?
I have to set my sound to 16bit DVD quality for it to start and it wont recognise my 360 pad (even though it says it would on the back of the bleeding box). I have to jump through hoops to set my pad up and then I don't get the guide button, the ability to hold both triggers or rumble. This needs a patch asap. At least one that lets me use a feature thats on the back of the box (BF:BC2 did this with 3D. It took a while for the drivers to be fixed even though it was '3D ready' on the back of the box.)
EDIT: And another game with 3D ready on the front of the box doesn't work in 3D. Way to go on the port guys -.-
At least it looks nicer than the console versions.

is there an easy exploitable to achieve zombie genocider master? in the first game the process was slow and boring but still easily doable.

Car and bike and a lot of patience I suppose.

I was surprised how good the auto-aiming was. And how poor the flamethrower damage is.

Means you get that percentage extra pp for all zombie kills. e.g. if a magazine gives you a 10% boost and you get 10pp for a kill then you'll now get 11pp for that kill. Might not sound that much, but it adds up across the entire game, and I ended up about 10 levels above a friend around the same part of the game due to carrying a horror magazine from the start.

There are also others like the rescue magazine which boosts rescue points that are even more lucrative (but harder to find).
