Dead Rising 2 |OT|: He knows his way around a zombie or two.

It's weird that bullets don't work, but oh well.

Ahh ok, yeah I was shooting the shit out of every part of the damned thing but nothing seemed to work.

Also I did get the hang of dodging the crane, but I'll be damned if I don't do it all the time on accident every time I pick up a chain saw. :( So annoying.

damn good going blue castle for reaching new levels of suckitude. What fucking game designer figured the last 2 hours of the game were fun? Oh boy and dont get me started on this overtime mode. I love getting all my shit taken away, dieing, then having to reload in the middle of zombie country.

Just save your game at the bathroom right next to the arena. That way you only have to go through a small amount of zombies to get back to the last fight.

Just finished my first playthrough at lvl. 31 and got the S ending. I will probably start Castlevania or Enslaved tomorrow, but will definitely come back for Case West when it's released. Great game overall much and better than I was expecting.

Yeah, just beat the game. God damn the RAGEEE running through my veins during that fight. Ugh, wish the combat was better with bosses.

Anyway, have to say considering i got the S ranking on my first time through, they could have given me a better conclusion, especially since they lavished so much story on all the psychopath cutscenes.

I appreciate the concept of Overtime mode as a neat extra but the execution was pretty terrible i felt.

Overall i enjoyed the game and i just might go back in to level up more, since that was the most addicting thing about it.

the zombie at the end made me spill my drink, damn fine scare

Try to make a painkiller mixed drink before you go into the fight (beer+beer) and drink it right before you enter the door. The effect of the drink remains active during the fight, and cuts down on the damage you take. Also crush boxes when he jumps off the platform for health items. Lastly, if you walk over to the side of the platform you can find a wrench laying on the ground, this chips away at his health pretty quick. I died about 3 times before I won, but this strategy helped a lot.

The seemingly little changes made to DR2 make it an immensely more enjoyable game than the first. Feeling good about my purchase, and hats off to Blue Castle, as has been said many many times, for good reason!

Either way, should beat the game tomorrow.

Don't think it's on par with Dead Rising 1 yet, but it's honestly the next best thing and even then I'm not being fair because Dead Rising 1 only got better the SECOND time I played it. Suffice to say, I will be doing an exploration/pp/money run next.

OT is pretty weak in 2, but overall I think the game surpassed the first. I'm having a blast on my second play, just making a huge posse and still finding insane combo weapons. I didn't miss photos as much as I expected when I started, and after spending time with it I don't know how I ever played DR1 without some of these weapons. They're so zany and over the top, fits the series like a glove.

In terms of gameplay, I really feel that DR2 is a better game than DR1. It keeps everything that worked and made DR1 unique, while improving each element and throwing in new stuff that fits in with the overall tone.

Where DR2 is lacking compared to the original is that the original story (not the writing, but rather how the main story is structured and the events that occur throughout the game, including Overtime) is much more compelling than the sequel. While the DR2 story is not bad by any means, and is still very much Dead Rising in tone, the characters are a bit weaker, and the overall plot doesn't have the same punch.

All in all, DR2 is a fantastic game and definitely a contender for GOTY.

Has anyone seen the bad ending for
BiBi yet? If you just go up to her and attack her there is a small movie sequence that plays once she goes down to a certain amount of health.

Yeah, my only real problem with the game is the story is entirely predictable and most of the characters come off as completely flat. Without his daughter, Chuck would be a walking sheet of plywood. It's very strange that out of all the women int he game, Bibi has the most personality. I was a lot more invested in the characters of the first game, even that dick Otis. Most of the psychos were 'I'm this profession, so I'll exaggerate it this obvious way.' Their cut-scenes went on too long for what they were.

I'd love to replay the original Dead Rising with all the gameplay improvements of this game, including the weapon combos.

So I'm stuck on
the mailman

Didn't realize it was a psychopath, showed up with four survivors having not saved in hours and activated it. Luckily I ran to the restroom next door and saved. But now I basically have to kill the guy...I have a broom/machete thing and that's pretty much it. There's some decent food nearby, but I can't figure out how to get near him
without him shotgunning my ass over and over again. I guess if I spent an hour slooooooooooowly chipping at his health and running away to find food and heal I could do it, but then I'd probably miss Katey's Zombrex dose. Is there any strategy to this? I didn't have all that much trouble with Slappy and the Chef and this guy is destroying me.

What level are you? Biggest difference the entire game for me were the Drop Kick and Spiked Bat...

Don't run straight at him, do it at an angle. He shoots three times and takes forever to recover, hit him then. He sometimes reloads too, which is another few hits. Stay near him so he tries to melee you, it's easy to avoid. The driller works well on him(spear + drill), you can make one in the nearby maintenance room.

Personally, I thought he was one of the easiest psychos. I'd also grab boxing gloves and a bowie knife from on top of the stand in the middle of the fight and make the claws first, good on pretty much every boss.

Nah, like the post above me says - take him at an angel and use the Boxing Gloves/Knife combo or some other heavy hitting weapon, make sure you load up on OJ before hand and chug some when you get low...

You could make knife gloves using the boxing gloves in the man sport's store (the one with the training dummies) and then the bowie knife on top of the newspaper stand nearby. They are both near the entrance to the safety room.

Damn, I played 30 minutes without saving and died to a psycho. When you get going you forget that you have to save a lot. :/ I'll have to try again tomorrow with more food.

Those lurkers are fast :lol

Game is dope so far, I took off a few days after beating it, time for a 2nd run through.

If you miss a case does the game really ever end? I got the S ending on my first go and now I just skipped the first case file and ran around saving survivors and killing the psychopaths. It kept giving me the countdown for the
military to show
but when the time came nothing happened.

So am I just free to run around forever?

edit: nevermind, it just randomly ended

60% of trophies obtained. :D
Going for the platinum.
And I never usually do that, unless I really really like a game. :)
I wonder what kind of DLC they're going to have in the future? I noticed that when you're going to look at trophies for this game, it has you select Dead Rising 2 twice. Once for the game, and then again to show that you're choosing trophies for the main game. Kind of like how you have to do with Uncharted 2's trophy list.
Uncharted 2 ---> U2/DLC

Whatever they decide to do, I can't wait! :D

Shit, I was on a role up until the military arrived and the
super zombies
appeared. I didn't miss a single mission and saved everyone up to that point. But right when shit officially got real, I was trying to escort the people from the "One Hit Wonder" mission back to base, and only got one survivor back alive. I still feel bad about that, haha.

The game was actually pretty casual (I won't say easy) up to that point, too. As long as I remembered to have at least three decent food/drink items on me at all times, as well as my trusty sledge/axe combo weapon and perhaps a firearm or two, I was golden. The only psychopath that gave me any real trouble was Slappy, and that's just because he moved so damn fast and had all that range. But even then, considering there was an unlimited supply of pizza upstairs, he wasn't much more than an annoyance.

Definitely like this game more than the first one, though. However, I still feel like they should have just turned off friendly fire. It's really frustrating when you see a survivor literally covered in zombies and all you have are melee weapons to fend them off. The fact that there's so many zombies at any given moment should be challenge enough. Just isn't good game design, imo.

Can't wait to try out the Ninja Outfit.

played a little more yesterday and got the boxing glove blades and spiked gloves. Nice :D

Wandered around a bit more, rescued some survivors, did the paramedic so got zombrex (is it ok to let that guy in the mall die from the bite - needed to get it to katey).

Got screwed by Randy though. Generally all the psycho encounters fuck me up due to the bad controls. you can't easily see where they're coming from, your weapons are generally close range as are theirs. So even if I get a couple of hits in, he always does too. (I don't have a dodge move, when does that come). I have a couple of guns but they're rubbish - they don't seem to auto aim well when you're running all over the place, and aiming takes so long the psycho has you by then.

Just a little annoying really

Where can I find some magazines that increase combo weapon durability?

Also, how much do those magazines extend the durability - 50%? 100%?

Sullivan?
. He just does so much bloody damage.

Most people have an exploit.

But what I did was grabbed health magazines, a few healing items and Knife Gloves. Jump kick him and then use the gloves. The gloves won't hit him on the first two hits but they'll do much better damage on the last two underhand hits than just bare hands, which I think the developers wanted you to do.

Finished the game! I got the S ending too. :D

There's something about the Dead Rising story I really enjoy. I liked Chuck too. He actually came off as a caring Dad. Probably more than Frank West. I'm actually really bummed I can't play the follow up with both of them in it(bought it on PC). Fun game that's flawed but the good outweigh the bad. I hope it sells well enough for a DR3.

Question about the ending
What happens if I don't give TK the zombrex? I gave it to him and fought him in overtime. Does anything else change?

Also, what carries over with a 2nd playthrough?
