It doesn't matter whether you throw them or lay them down. It's generally going to take a while if you only have one piece. It helps if you have like 3-4 pieces and lay them around in the path between you and her. As she's walking towards you, there's a much better chance that she'll stop and eat one instead of continuing the case. Either way, the AI is a bit unpredictable so you have to keep at it. Just remember that it's okay to leave the area to get more steaks from the food court. It still counts.

Yeah, I'm using 4 steaks (3 from the upper ledge of her area, 1 from the restaurant across the way where she can't enter). It's just not working at all, I lay them all down on the ground, in a row, not all on top of each other and stand behind. She just jumps over them at me. This is terrible AI and I hate that it's so early in the game, since DR is all about repeat playthroughs.

Taming Snowflake is one of the hardest things I've had to do in this game yet. One time I did it by throwing the steaks and another by dropping them. Both times, the key to success is dropping/throwing them at the right time. Stay in the more open areas of the Yucatan, preferably right outside of where you first meet Snowflake, right outside of her glass enclosure.
Snowflake will line up to attack you and charge you in a straight line. This is when you drop the steak and run backwards away from Snowflake. She should start eating the steak that you dropped, as long as you didn't break that straight line. Good luck, it is really hard to do and might take some time.
I got this game last Thursday and beat it last night at level 50. It was pretty good. I thought the ending was a lot more satisfying than DR1, although I want more story e.g
where Chuck and co. go home to after beating TK; definitely hated the super zombies.
so I'm looking forward to Case West now more than ever if only for more story and hopefully new weapons. I though the psychopaths in this game weren't as creepy as the first game although they were more psychotic although
I thought the mailman and Slappy were scary and the magicians and the virgin dude's death were funny.
The bosses use a lot of cheap tricks in this game but they're a joke once you use melee weapons on them e.g knife gloves and the laser sword.
The framerate issue is obvious and I typically don't care for that stuff but when the game slows down from a lot of stuff going on at once you know something's wrong and the load times are longer in this game than DR1 but I know it's on a different engine; I dread having left a survivor in another area, going back to the other area only having to wait 25 seconds to get back to the area and I hate the fact that the Multiplayer takes forever to find other players and that it randomly throws you into a lobby that's either has people or is empty; I seriously hope that gets patched. The MP mini games are pretty fun and it's nice that it nets you some easy money and the
championship jacket
. Those are my beefs with the game, aside from that though, the game's pretty good and there's way more stuff to do in this game than in DR1.
I haven't played co-op yet but I will do so now and I'll put up my GT in the online thread for anyone who's down for that and for cash grinding in MP. Now I'll see if I grind some cash online to buy the vehicle keys and get the Zombie Genocide and Master achievements.
I laid 4 steaks in a row a little outside the restaurant steps, cleared the area of zombies with the handgun from the cops inside. She pretty much eat 3 steaks in consecutive 'runs'.
There were too many zombies near the enclosure where the steaks are, this was a safer place (also had wine inside the restaurant).
Second floor Pallisades, if I remember correctly. The first time you go there you will have to clear out a ton of the looters, and if they knock you unconscious you'll wake up completely stripped of clothing and inventory in a bathroom a few stores down.
Wow, I never knew that was possible. Then again, I don't think I've even been hit before by a looter they're such a non-threat in the game, especially compared to e.g. the cultists in the first game (their closest analogue).

I found it hard at first, but that was because people kept posting just plain wrong information. It's piss easy. Just get to a reasonably clear area away from the gambling machines. drop a load of them in a little line. Stand on the opposite side of the line to snowflake. You'll know straight off if you've done it right as he/she will walk slowly up and take one from quite a way away. Don't try and do it quickly as he approaches cos that DOESN'T work. Also you will still get charged after each eating session so just get out of the way, then position yourself inbetween the steaks and Snowflake again after each one, or if you weren't quite in position for that run. I've done it 4 times this way and done it in around 30 seconds every time.
Taming Snowflake was pretty easy for me. You just have to keep in mind that she will only eat the meat if she starts running at you when she is pretty far away.
Speaking of Snowflake, how did you guys run into her and the psycho? It only occurred on my very first play through, and since then I've never been able to find him and the tiger again. :/

jump kick when he skates towards you. Then beat him when he is down. When he gets back up, he'll spin around and shoot his flamethrower so run away. after that attack he'll be dizzy so you can attack again. Just repeat this and you win.
There's a water gun in the toy store, shuts him down easily. Probably easier than jump kick. Shoot one squirt of water, switch to weapon of choice smash on him repeat.

Also, they only appear if you enter the casino through the door that leads to the strip. If you come from the food court or the other side it doesn't trigger. I think Leon is also sort of similar to this (you have to exit from the Arena)?

I played a few days ago. Aside from the survivor AI, Dead Rising stands up quite well as a current gen game. It's really not all that different besides from the much much more powerful melee weapons in the sequel.
This game is throwing so much shit at me at once. I've had to let a few survivors bite it for my first time through.
Regarding the group of redneck psychos with sniper rifles. I assume there's a way up to the rooftops for each one, correct? I found a latter to the rooftop of the first one, but the second one I encounter I can't seem to find a way up. Don't tell me where, I just want to make sure I'm not wasting time looking for something that's not there.
Ahh, it must be a time thing then. In two playthroughs now I've got there via the food court and nothing happened, then exited via the strip and immediately came back in again for it to trigger. I usually do this as the first thing in the game then the first zombrex mission and its survivor.

I didn't buy but I got it from my Gamestop. It makes the game ridiculously easy. Seriously, I almost feel like I'm cheating using it... But its also really nice when you just want to focus on collecting or rescuing survivors. In other words, its badass but almost game breaking.
I'm on my first playthrough and I'm wondering if I should even bother trying to fight all the psychos? Someone mentioned fighting Antoine on level 18 being rough -- I'm level 17 and the timer on his mission is getting yellow now.

I beat him when I was level 14, so it can totally be done. I also did it with shotguns and a sniper rifle... guess it's just a matter of what you bring into the fight.
Just starting playing last night, and I've already put 6 or 7 hours in. This game is fucking awesome and so addictive. I'm just trying to keep Katey alive while killing a few psychos and saving some survivors, I failed the case files around 2-1. It's so easy to get distracted and just explore the different stores and stuff.
I liked the first game, but so far I love this one. The retained all the good stuff while improving the formula and adding a bunch of sweet shit like the combinations.
I mentioned this earlier, but pay attention to the buildings they are on. Bring up the map and see what the closest Maintenance Room is to that particular spot. You might notice something very obvious that will take you to the roof by those rooms.
Be careful when dealing with the fat sniper; he can fuck you up real fast since he deals more damage with his melee attack than the rest of them and he has a nasty special attack, too.
