Dead Rising 2 |OT|: He knows his way around a zombie or two.

Be careful when dealing with the fat sniper; he can fuck you up real fast since he deals more damage with his melee attack than the rest of them and he has a nasty special attack, too.
I ploughed through the first sniper with my LMG. :D

I loved the snipers for no other reason than that they're ridiculous Tea Party parodies and you get to beat the living shit out of them. :lol :lol :lol

Right now I'm working on killing the fat shotgun-marriage psycho. I had to run away and gather up some sweet weapons, and I had to save and stop right there. Can't wait to get back in tonight.

I love the thrill of discovery in this game. Theres always something new around the corner. It's crazy that I wasn't even planning on getting this at first, what a pleasant surprise this game is.

So I took a break to play some Terror Is Reality, and ended up winning my first game, first time. Well chuffed. But then I ended up with an extra $90000 in my game. It felt like cheating! That was followed immediately by rescuing the ATM guy, adding another $50000 to the pot.

"The fuck am I meant to spend all this on?" I asked.

Then I started finding the 'pay me to join you' survivors. What a bunch of douchebags. They can have my cheat money.

Killed one of the snipers so far. Had a quick glance at the rest, but I had an entourage with me at the time with no leadership magazines, so I avoided them for now.

Fun times, for sure.

Fuck those snipers. Just as bad as the jeep in the first game.

I managed to climb up to one and kill him, but can't see a way up to the rest. It's making me avoid going outside. :\

Dunno, think it was quite obvious how to get up to the rooftops. :|
You gotta climb ladders to reach them and they are just around the corner.

I walked around the base of the buildings looking for a ladder like I used to get the first one but didn't spot any. I was being shot at as I was doing this, however, so it is likely I missed something since they have such good aim and kept hitting me. I quickly ran inside the building then and looked for a way up that way.

I'm going to load up the game tomorrow and see massive ladders staring me in the face, aren't I? :lol

I just listened to Lifeseeker's Gone Guru... now I need to throw it onto my 360 hard drive and listen to it when I'm traipsing through the Silver Strip...

I started a second playthrough generally just to make money, find people I haven't seen before, give Katey gifts, and maybe kill a ton of zombies. Running the Slot Ranch giant machine with three gambling magazines, I've made enough to buy the SUV, Sports Car, and Knight Boots.

I have a problem, though. Both times I've played the game, I never got the call for the four people playing a board game in South Plaza, so they never showed up. When should I be getting that call?

And what time do the Atlantic Casino poker players appear?

How many gifts are there to get for Katey? I got four big stuffed animals so far and by the looks of the office I'd say there's probably four more to get.

There's actually a total of eleven, including Snowflake.

What a great dad! :lol :lol :lol

One of the gifts is the painting that you have to buy from the artist survivor in order to get him to join your group, so don't smash it into any zombies on your way back to the safe house.

Nope.

There are a bunch of toys she'll accept, there's a particular painting that you can pick up through a quest (where I messed up last time), and then there's the greatest present of all.

List in spoilers:
1: Giant Stuffed Elephant
2: Giant Stuffed Donkey
3: Giant Stuffed Bull
4: Giant Stuffed Rabbit
5: Robot Bear
6: Water Gun
7: Beach Ball
8: Bag of Marbles
9: Stick Pony
10: Funny Painting
11: Snowflake the Tiger

Even with TiR, that's going to take some doing.

You get a million dollars for winning the hidden poker tournament in Atlantica Casino on day 3 from 1 AM to 1 PM. Also, having all three Gambling books really improves the odds of winning big on the large slot machine in Slot Ranch, so take advantage of that as well.

What's the best way to beat Slappy?

How do you encounter Snowflake btw

The earliest you can encounter Ted and Snowflake is 4:00AM.
I tend to skip Denyce and just go to those psychos. Then swing back and pick up Denyce and the Zombrex.

Second play-through it is, then! I was doing quite well in the safehouse poker game due to how transparent the AI is with their plays, without any gambling books, but decided to reload a save to rescue some survivors instead. I'll save the monetary unlocking for a time where I'm not concerned about the story.

The poker game in the safe house doesn't actually net you any money, but beating everyone in the room does unlock the Knight Helmet, so it's worth it to slog through it.

Are you sure? Because I busted everyone on the first try and didn't notice the helmet in my locker. I do see the knight armor body part. Is that from the poker win?

What are all the keys available in the game? I'm in the slot ranch casino at the moment and can't get into the cashiers room, anyone know whats up with that?

They unlock with certain story elements, psychos, and people saved.

Knight Armor is from beating Overtime.

Like Vista mentioned, Jack needs to be saved in order to get the opportunity to win the helmet.

Oh wow, some guys managed to figure out a duping trick for magazines that can result in the shops paying you to take their items from them, including the super-expensive vehicle keys. Crazy stuff. :lol :lol :lol

Oh right, I already have case zero on 360 but the level transfer doesn't really bug me much. I just want the best console version of DR2.

The trick is essentially identical to the RE5 duping glitch, so I guess it really is a Capcom game in the end. :lol

Apparently, there's a few magazines that don't stack that high, so maybe they somewhat had this in mind?

I beat the game. The psycho fights were a lot easier on a couple of restarts and the dropkick was almost required.

I must say, the game is at it's best near the end.
The super zombies are great. For every pack of dumb zombies there are always a few of those bastards within them, pushing through the crowds to get at you at high speed. It made me fear the zombie packs, as you can't really see them until it's too late. Awesome.

Great game, but there's not much incentive to keep playing. It was probably better to have us level slower and introduce new difficulty settings with repeated runs.

Don't be surprised :)

Just look at your map, Each of the ladders is clearly marked with what looks like an elevator icon I believe. Once you realize this the snipers are really easy.

So does anyone know if the DLC was released for the ninja preorder stuff? it was suppose to be out today but I am not seeing it.

Awe, different strokes I suppose. I wish this were a download just so I could randomly jump in and kill some zombies when the moment hit me.

I've been googling this for the last 30 minutes, but nothing is coming up. Checked the market place and it's not up there yet. This is the only Costume Pack that I wanted (although the Sports Fan one is nice for the speed boost), but I had to buy my game from Best Buy.

Finished the game at level 31, with 35 survivors and the S ending. Fun stuff. When I have time I'll be doing a replay for zombie killing and side quests.

:lol some of the lines are so funny

Cowboy guy: I'm twice the man you are! *falls on saw mill*
Chuck: I saw what you did there

also some scenes are very painful to watch :\
where that girl gets killed by the saw mill by that two guys, was kinda bad :[

enjoying this very much at this point, 15 hours to go.

I had a very productive night last night. I completed overtime, did not have too much difficulty with the last boss.
I rather liked how you can only use what's in the area, that way I didn't feel I was doing something wrong if I don't bring a certain weapon or drink ahead of time (The sisters fight is an example, I couldn't win that at all without getting a LMG)
. Then I started a second game to get more survivors than the piddling 28 I got first time around. I managed to get the 8 followers trophy and tame snowflake as one of them while somehow keeping the story going at the same time. I think this game will be even more fun the second time :D

Keep talking to (continue hitting B) him and he'll eventually join you.

. But it's the other stuff--the still messy survivor AI and poorly built boss battles--that really mars the Dead Rising 2 experience. It's not an impossible game to love, but as with the first game, you'll have to look past a lot of blemishes to find happiness.

Certainly don't agree with this part from the Giantbomb review.

Totally. Compared to the first one, these survivors are vastly improved. I got the achievement for escorting 8 of them without blinking an eye. Hell, I make sure to bring some of them along when I fight bosses!

Found a BUG:

I was doing mission 1-3 (Following Rebecca to security room) and I had a bunch of survivors with me. Well, during the switch from SOUTH PLAZA to ARENA a survivor had fallen too far behind. Normally you can just go back and grab him/her, but when I did this it made Rebecca forget where to go, and I could not get her to snap back into mission mode. I smacked her, saved, and exited multiple times... to no avail.

Glad I was at the start of the game! Even with bugs and many other imperfections, I love this game!

So, game has been rad, love it. But I've been struggling SO MUCH on bosses. I don't remember having problems like this in DR1. I remember the DR1 bosses being traditional bosses where you just need to find their pattern, avoid it, and win. Or maybe they were easier because I had dual chainsaws and in DR2 most of the time I just have a spiked bat against them.

Every psycho I've tried to fight has been impossible and either I run away after I figure out I can't win or I die and sometimes lose 20-30 mins of progress.

So I've been just avoiding all the psycho fights, but now to continue the main story I have to fight a boss and I can't win no matter what I try. I'm too slow to avoid boss attacks (a problem I have with a lot of psychos) and the boss has stupid invincible frames all the time (a problem I have with the psychos as well).

I'm at
the two girls with swords on case...4 I think?
and I'm level 16. Should I just restart the story at this point. I haven't done any restarts yet. I was hoping to wait until I at least got speed 2 before doing a restart so I could get more accomplished quickly.

I restarted 2 times before finishing. At level 16 I would definitely restart if I were you.
As a side note, the length of time it takes to get a multi match going is terrible. It's the main reason why I can make these posts :lol .

DR2 is exactly like that. Not sure why anyone says otherwise. I never had a single real problem with a psycho fight in the entire game. I had to retry some a few times to learn the pattern or fight the best way to beat them, but otherwise it's very traditional. You just need to know when to evade, and when to attack.

Only Slappy gave me trouble since his best window involved me taking a hit. You can technically do the fight without being hit if you are really, REALLY patient.

Also, the survivor complaint is bullshit since they no longer stand in a horde of zombies and get hit endlessly. Play the first game and try to save 50 survivors. It is an exercise in frustration especially at night.

Even if you can't figure out boss patterns, you can still just brute force them. Bring one or two items, a health magazine, and spend the rest of the item slots on food.
