Dead Rising 3 created "to go after the Call of Duty player"

Ill admit the graphics looked good but i didnt like the open world feel of it and every corner fighting hordes of zombies. I mean as it is alot of open world games are very repetitious and boring and this just seems as if itll be the same. Go to this point and get this, fight hordes of zombies, then go to this point do this, fight hordes of zombies!!!!

and the microsoft presser had the best exclusives?? forza gimped, dead rising gimped, ryse looks god awful.

jeez ms you done fucked up

Managing time is the thing that defines Dead Rising, mechanically, for me. Getting rid of that is like getting rid of jumping in a Mario game.

Capcom is pointedly trying to appeal to a wider audience in this latest iteration, saying it's going after the Call of Duty player. Gone is the cartoonish visual design, replaced by a more "realistic" interpretation of a viral apocalypse.

Was not hard to figure out from the footage they showed. All dark and serious lots of machine gun play then fucking air strikes at the end. I love the series but it is dead this game is dead rising in name only.

Jim Sterling exlained it best. Going after the CoD audience usually doesn't work because CoD fans will continue to play only CoD and you just end up alienating the original fans. Everyone loses.

Of course it is. I'm not sure how anyone's surprised by this. Capcom continues to go after unattainable markets while ignoring the fanbase that they've accrued.

Welp, thanks for alleviating the frustration that this would be exclusive to a system I won't buy, Capcom. It can keep it.

People who hate the term dudebro may as well get used to it.

Because the industry itself is admitting that's what they're after.

Man, if only Capcom had some other dark, more serious zombie series where they could have gone down a grittier path.

I guess they don't though.

Jezus fuck not sure if designers are stupid or something.
People want cod not a weak sauce cod rip off when the real cod is the better experience.

I remain irrationally optimistic about this game. DR2 (particularly OTR) was good, so I trust they know their design direction.

Sadly by being Xbone exclusive I won't be playing it for quite some time.

I thought it looked like they CoD-ified the game during the trailer, what with the call down artillery in the end of the game and all.

Everything that is wrong with our industry right now. Stop trying to appeal to a certain audience and stay true to your original vision. Going after CoD players never ends well, for any developer.

The messaging on this game is going to be a mix of trying to appeal to new fans and trying to appease old ones, and in doing so they'll satisfy neither.

Can just picture some playing this game with a controller, while shouting and waving around to the kinect sensor, while occasionally checking their tablet for more in game options. A simple controller with rumble is good enough for me.

[...] trying to appeal to a wider audience [...] it's going after the Call of Duty player. Gone is the cartoonish visual design, replaced by a more "realistic" interpretation [...]That change is part of the maturation. [...]the combat can be "more visceral" [...], with "real gore."[...]The Kinect is used to communicate to zombies [...] in Dead Rising 3, you can shake your arms to get them off.
Well ... good luck with that
