On top of the blue ridge above the photoshop.

Easy to figure out how to get there on your own.;)

Oooooooh! Although, I've found the melee items to be so much more fun.

One thing I hope is fixed in final: Custom Soundtracks play over the audio in the cutscenes! Booo! This game was MADE for custom soundtracks!!
I've been spending my morning deciding whether this game will sound better to Chicago's Greatest Hits, or Chet Baker. Hell, I may just go with NWA.

How many times have you guys played through this demo?

12+ times now, dude, and I'm not tired of it at all. In fact, it makes me want to see the other mall sections even more, because I know the item selection will be even more diverse.

go to the stairs near the tops of the stores, and jump. Frank will grab on the edge, climb up.

No, I can't do it anymore. This demo is awesome but I have to stop playing it now. The full game is so close and I don't want anymore ruined. *Temptation*

Theres something hypnotic about filling up with golfballs and hitting them down a hallway of zombies while dressed like a horse.

We need a playlist of the best music to play this shit to.

I was using the "frighteners" soundtrack for a while. But I think I'm gonna see if I can hunt down the "Dawn of the dead" and "Day of the dead" OSTs.

As I posted earlier, T.I.'s "I'm Talkin' To You" is bangin' PERFECTION for just lacing into zombies.

You Americanos might not have seen it, but in Shaun of the Dead (British Dawn of Dead inspired film with Simon Pegg) there is a scene with them killing a zombie to Queen's Don't Stop me Now - could be a fun re-enactment.

don't know if anyone noticed but if you are barehanded and press RT to go into Aim Mode your guy SPITS.

Note:Shooting a construction worker zombie in the head is ineffective, it bounces off his hardhat

ha! i noticed that.

one of my favorites is rolling bowling balls.

Coin Return

Loose Slot
Dawn of the Dead OST definetly, in particular: The Gonk, Sun High - S Park, L'Alba Dei Morti Viventi, and Ai Margini Della Follia.

atomsk

Party Pooper
still another 2.5 hours till i can go home and download this. gaf hype don't let me down.

this is going to ruin my "dont buy any games in august" plan. =(

I believe Shaun of the Dead was shown in theatres around the US a while ago in addition to showing up on DVD, so I'm sure plenty have seen it. :)

Game is a riot. I don't know what the hell i'm supposed to be doing, the cutscene sound isn't working, but killing hundreds of zombies is lovely. I basically act like its survivor mode.

i am so ****ing pissed i forgot my a/v cables for 360. now i have to read about everyone ELSES fun. how much do they cost at the store? maybe i could buy them and dishonestly return them at a later time!

this game is insane, I LOVE IT.

so many lol moments, my favorite is watching the zombies come crashing down stairs trying to chase me :lol

damn now you guys are hyping it up TOO much. i give it until 8/12/06 until the inevitable "fellas, were we wrong about this game?"

although i am still buying it day 1 whether i play the demo before or not! champion!

I dunno. I'm still getting it but the demo leaves me with a weird feeling. Maybe because of the cut-scenes. Weird coming from someone who plays mostly RPGs, but I was just hoping this to be simple. Although it does mention some leader-board survival thing, so we'll see.

Those books are indeed awesome. Machinegun plus book makes good photo oportunity.:)

Personally I like the boomerang best. When you throw it....IT COMES BACK!!!!!

Does anyone know what song is playing in the TV spot?

Ah, this game rocks. I want to keep playing, but I want to have the game be as fun as it can next week.

I was firing at a contructionworker-zombie with a handgun (some policeman-zombies carry them), when I noticed my shots ricochet'ed off his helmet. Just thought that was a really nice detail. :D

Well I don't doubt Shaun of the Dead was an inspiration for this game as well. I mean, you can pick up CD's and throw them at zombies :D

Inafune was asked about Shaun of the Dead

GameSpy: Playing Dead Rising, I felt a definite comedic influence and a reinventing of the zombie genre, like what was done recently in 28 Days Later and Shaun of the Dead. Did those films also influence the game?

Keiji Inafune: Those movies that you mentioned, what those symbolize are a recreation of what the old zombie movies used to be. Those original zombie movies had a comical aspect to them; they weren't just scary movies. They were humorous to a certain degree. And so what you're probably seeing is the directors of those two movies taking it to the next level.

For us, with this game, we wanted to add in the homage, the parody, the comedy aspect that we felt was in the old zombie movies of yesteryear. But also, we wanted to add in what zombies are, and what zombies are to us is a symbol: of mankind's greed, of their desire to eat, of their hunger. And that's what they're supposed to be in this game: a symbol.

There is a funny disclaimer on the front page of the official Dead Rising website about Dawn of the Dead. Look at the lower right.

Its also on the box art and when you start the game

My tv is like a 13" Apex that my mom got for free. I do have a decent 17" FP monitor though, does Radio Shack sell those VGA cables?

Gyah I still have to pay off my laptop and buy books.

But I just got a pay raise and I want to kill zombies...

Heh, I woke up this morning to find out my net connection went down sometime during the middle of the night and it had only downloaded 84%. I was disappointed as I was hoping to wake up and play it so I started to continue the download and it was taking forever. By the time it was done, I had about 5 minutes before I should leave for work, but I ended up playing it for 20. Now that I'm at work, I started the 360 here to download the game but it's taking forever =( By the time it's done, it'll be time to go home and play it. Damn reading this thread makes me wanna play it so bad. Christmas has come early this year =)

funny story. last october i was at a horror convention in Massachusetts talking to George Romero and we got talking about games. Of course, I asked him if he'd heard of Dead Rising...

and he said he hadn't.

so...

I told him about it.

Now I see these disclaimers and I think...

gee...

he'd have found out about it eventually though right?

right?

Whats really great about this game is the sound. Everything about it is perfect; it's dirty, it's metallic, its mushy, it's nasty. Rarely do I notice stuff like this, but Capcom just hit it out of the park in the sound department. Makes me really want to try out all the weapons in the game, especially the gas powered ones :)

Is there a soundtrack behind all this? Any good?
