Dead Rising demo TODAY. Now. :o

i think the motion blur is well done in this game, which really blurs (pun intended) the line between 30 and 60fps at times. it just feels extremely polished and smooth. i'm wondering if the slight hitch when attacking 4+ zombies simultaneously was intentional. to me at least, it feels like i'm charging up for a hard hit. but im sure a lot of gaf nitpickers would like to disagree. as far as screen tearing is concerned, there might be slight traces of it here and there, but far from the mess that saint's row is. in fact, i've yet to experience any framerate/slowdown issues that detract from the game. the visuals alone make this game feel like a triple A title. i only see good things in the future for capcom. i think this demo is going to sell a ton of copies.

i hope capcom gets the publicity it deserves. i'd love for them to make even more games on the 360, especially if the quality is as great as dead rising.

I'm using VGA with a 19" CRT. No tearing. I have the dash set to 1280x720 right now.
THANKS! I had it at 1280x768, now I've put x720 and the tearing disappeared :D

Weird... maybe 360's internal scaler isn't very efficient under some circustances?

Speaking of retro games and for all of you who were asking about playing classic arcade games, I seem to remember 'Fune, while talking about the time limit in game, said something like "or you could spend all three days playing games in the arcade".

Can't believe I'm the only one who remembers this.

That would be nice ! i don't think i've ever read that though.
I find it strange reviews don't mention it, but then again, we know how rushed web reviews are these days.

you're not. in one of the E3 2005 interviews (or was it TGS? the time they had the early build and everyone ragged on the low-quality zombies) Keiji specifically said there would be playable games at the arcade, and said he might consider making one of them one of the old Resident Evil games.

But that's moot now, isn't it? If you take IGN's word for it, you *have* to follow the story elements or the game will end. There's very little free-time.

i love the subtlety in this game! don't know if any of you have tried this, but try shooting a cash register with the pistol or shotgun. dollars and coins fly out of the register. the attention to detail is amazing. i must have put at least 2-3 hours into the demo already and i keep finding new shit every time i play.

i feel like a little kid in a candy store with this game... next tuesday can't come sooner!

edit: muhaahahah. try attacking with the ketchup bottle @ jill's sandwiches. it's ****in' hilarious.

only the first time through. and The 1UP Show indicated that the game didn't end, just the storyline and it forced you to reload if wanted to keep up with it.

that's just on the first playthrough, you can then unlock some never-ending mode which allows you to wander around for as long as you want.

Well, if everything Inafune mentioned is still true then we have confirmation that the game is indeed perfect : )

1 - Do you see screen tearing too? Expecially visible in the initial sequence... it's the only flaw in a perfect demo. I'm using VGA output,
Weird, I never noticed any tearing in any of the cutscenes or in normal view gameplay. I did notice slight (and I mean VERY slight) tearing if I used a ranged weapon (gun) and aimed left to right or vice versa pretty quickly.

Why do people keep mentioning next tuesday? Has the release date for this game changed? I thought it was the 22nd.

Anyone figure out how to use the ingredient that is near the blender? It says something about attracting zombies or something but I don't know if it's actually interactive in the demo.

Anyway to ignite the oil after you throw it on the ground? I would like to burn some of these zombies.

That's just the clue telling you that there are 6 types of juices to mix.

Here's how to mix them:

I am a weak individual. I bought a 360 about 4 hours ago for this, and have only just got it set up and running.

I am currently wearing a horsehead, childrens clothes and attacking zombies with a water pistol. This is the best game ever.

Follow Shog's instructions to get Zombait. When you drink it, any zombies within 100 square feet will immediately turn and come after you. I dropped down on the awning where the Katana is located, drank the Zombait Smoothie, and then allowed 40 to gather below me before dropping down and going Samurai on their ass.

I used the old bowling ball to the head when I chugged zombait. There's just something so very satisfying about the hits in this game. When you smack a zombie hard with a bat, you can almost feel the meaty connect. This game will eat me alive.

I haven't found a Katana or a bat yet. I guess it's time to get back into the demo.

I can't make any sense of those Zombait instructions at all.

Oh god, I LOVE the ++ Bat Attack. Do a nice wind-up, get that that nice 10pp Stutter, SPLAT, oh I love it.

(That stutter, by the way, is oddly endearing. It tells you that you've really laid the smackdown in a very ghetto, old school way.)

Just go to Jill's sandwich shop near the movie theater and pick up food items on the charts that will let you mix up Zombait, then head upstair to the Coffee shop and hit puree on the ol' blender.

It's very easy. Get a snack and some pie. Dump them into the blender at the coffee shop and voila! You have Zombait. If you want the Untouchable shake, just use OJ and some pie.

Yeah... it is... the stutter and (obviously) audio do a good job of giving you the illusion that you really connected with the zombie's skull. I can't wait for chainsaws and other guns and cars and bombs....and wood chippers and leveling up to the point where you can body slam and stuff like that.

Oh GOD yes. I mean I'm having such a blast with all these very low level weapons and skills, I can't even fathom how spectacular this is going to get.

This has made my day :D:D:D:D:D Mostly because I know how excitinng it is to buy a new console, and also because Dead Rising is so much freakin' fun!!!!!

Welcome aboard!

Any clue what the microwave in Jill's Sandwiches does?

In previous trailers, Frank cooks food to avoid eating something raw or spoiled(which will take a square of life instead of giving health).

I imagine more and more food will spoil as the days tick off.

Can't wait for the final game. It's just a demo, and there's so much to do and experiment! Imagine with all the cool bosses, the exterior of the mall, night time, other weapons, rankings, how will we stop playing this beast?

Oh, I know
Disgaea 2 is in August too :D

I also gave in today and have purchased a X360 console.

Did not get a game with it because I'm not paying in-game store prices here in the Netherlands :P I'll order something online - can someone confirm Dead Rising US works on a PAL X360?

Dead Rising demo is lots of fun :P The shopping cart is surprisingly useful, and I like the sniper cutscene.

The US version of Dead Rising WON'T work on PAL consoles, you'll have to wait one more month I'm afraid :P

Why do people keep praising the graphics in this game? They're terrible outside of cutscenes (and the blood, which is nice). If you want some horror, just check out the textures on the wall in the opening cutscene. Yikes.

Anyway, my impressions of this game haven't changed much with the demo. The only reason to buy the retail version would be to try out some of the weapons that aren't in the demo, but even those would get old after using them for 15 minutes or so.

Lost Planet destroys this mindless, repetitive snorefest.

"HI EVERYBODY! A FEW TEXTURES SEEN REALLY CLOSE UP MEANS THE WHOLE GAME LOOKS TERRIBLE! F*CKADOODLEDOO!"

Source? Just a few pages ago someone said that someone from EBGames Italy confirmed it's region free.

Well, to be honest it doesn't look very next-gen to me either apart from all the on-screen character and hi-def gfx.
Fun as hell though! :)

You playin' this on that one dude's 10" TV set? If this don't look "next gen" to you, then you need to go into hybernation for about 4 years. :P

Graphics look fine to me. The mall looks great, particularly when you take a broad area with a large number of zombies in it.

In any case, this is a lot of fun. Throwing the boomerang, watching it kill zombies and come back to you is the kind of thing I can appreciate.

Sure. But does it destroy it while wearing a horse's head while dressed in children's clothes and shooting a water gun?

I'm playing on a 60-inch HDTV and the game looks terrible by next-gen standards. The only thing it has going for it is tons of on screen characters, but that doesn't change the fact its not that far off from a high-res Xbox game outside of the cutscenes (which do look great).

I already know the response to this post but... this must PLAY a hell of alot better than it looks, because these youtube captures just aren't making me interested in any way

How can you question a game even more silly than your avatar?

I agree CAPCOM are truely gods among men. They're really on a roll of late too. Love them.

As far as screen tearing, I'm EXTREMELY picky about it and can notice it right away, and as far as I can tell, I see none in this game.
