Dead Rising demo TODAY. Now. :o

I'm playing on a 60-inch HDTV and the game looks terrible by next-gen standards. The only thing it has going for it is tons of on screen characters, but that doesn't change the fact its not that far off from a high-res Xbox game outside of the cutscenes (which do look great).

High quality XBox game fxs (e.g. Ninja Gaiden) * HD with AA and motion blur * exponential increase in geometry (for enemy count, level size increase and model quality upgrade) = pretty much a great definition of this new next gen visual option IMO, but you go on ahead with the hatin'. It's good on you.

I already know the response to this post but... this must PLAY a hell of alot better than it looks, because these youtube captures just aren't making me interested in any way
Playing games is better than watching games? The hell you say.

I dont even have an HDTV and I think the game looks fantastic. Have you people forgotton what Xbox/PS2 games actually looked like?

There is a mop in the mensroom on the ground floor. It's really quite long, big and powerful and when it breaks (the brush head brakes off) it leaves you with a sharp wooden stick than you can use to poke zombies to death! Awesomeness!!

You should try throwing it like a spear. :D

Sweet Mary Moses, tonight can't come soon enough.

"Okay, honey, time for you to head off to bed!"

"But it's only 7:30!"

"Head. Off. To. Bed."

i never really was much of a believer in the game, then i played it. The weapons are so incredibly satisfying to use. The hit detection, sound effect, and gore of each consecutive swing is simply spot on...it feels great to play. Its a ton of fun, it's easily accessible (jump right in at any time). It also has a great sense of humor, just a lot of little things.

btw, it's crazy how people are buying 400 dollar systems for a demo. Great job Capcom, Kudow MS.

I was actually shocked how good 360 games looked on my SDTV with a RGB cable. I was expecting Xbox 1.2 or something. :lol

Can-can you?

Right trigger then X baby.

The same thing with hunting knife = Frank throws the knife into the torso of zombie, then about 3 second after the impact, the zombie falls down with a grunt, giving you 30 Prestige Points (ppt).

Source? Just a few pages ago someone said that someone from EBGames Italy confirmed it's region free.

I'm sure someone sent Capcom USA an e-mailing asking, they were told it would only work on US/Asian consoles.

Can someone explain to me what tearing is, anyway? I'd like to identify it in the Saint's Row demo.
On your monitor/tv it'll look like there's a horizontal line in the middle of your screen where the top and bottom halves don't line up. It'll last a second or so and is caused when a new frame (bottom) overlaps an old one (top).

If v-sync (vertical synchonization) is enabled you won't see it at all. V-sync sorta holds the bottom half of the frame until the top half is displayed so everything is smooth.

He's not in the demo.

Why do people keep praising the graphics in this game? They're terrible outside of cutscenes (and the blood, which is nice). If you want some horror, just check out the textures on the wall in the opening cutscene. Yikes.

Anyway, my impressions of this game haven't changed much with the demo. The only reason to buy the retail version would be to try out some of the weapons that aren't in the demo, but even those would get old after using them for 15 minutes or so.

Lost Planet destroys this mindless, repetitive snorefest.
stop gaming. right now. ;)

The demo seems designed only for HDTVs, hope the full game has LARGER TEXT FOR STANDARD TVS CAPCOM

I don't know why game devs do this. Halo 2 story chatter during game was designed for surround sound setups and on stereo was just drowned out.

Or you can grab the red (ketchup?) bottle from the diner and smash (or throw) it against zombie head OR throw some cooking oil and watch the zombies slip and fall on their behinds in a most hilarious way, only to hoplessly get up and fall down again.

The 'only' thing is 'tons of on screen character' ! like it's something minor : ) and that certainly wouldn't even be the only thing at all.

Not only Dead Rising's visuals are entirely 'next gen' (-_-) and ultimately very good; graphics aside, the whole concept would have turned out quite different on last gen hardwares, would have had to be dumbed down gameplay wise.

yeah, someone did, but since capcom never supported importing i wouldn't expect them to tell you the game works just fine.

EB games italy have received confirmation (from eb games usa) that the game is indeed region free and multilanguage BUT don't take my word (actually EB's) for it, just hold on a couple days and we'll find out for sure.
I'm just reporting what ebgames is telling its customers, as soon as i have the chance i'll try myself.

Seriously, why do the video look so boring?

This is often the case with games that leave so much freedom for the player's creativity.
If you're a boring person, the game will be boring, if you're imaginative and fun, the game will be fun. It's really up to how you play it, to how much you like exploring it's possibilities, to how much you like thinking of different ways to play a game, thinking of games within the game.

Some of you people are crazy. The graphics are some of the best I've seen this gen. I swear, some of you aren't even gamers anymore.

Normally I'd be upset with your Caps Lock issue, but you quoted Shaun of the Dead, so you wins the internets.

"Hands on only"? As in you think people can't get excited about this game unless they play it? I seem to know at least two people here bought 360s in the last two days just to play this demo.

I had a Servbot helmet on, some 10 sizes too small kids clothing with a "Ratman" logo on them and goofy old timer dress shoes with knee high socks, while holding a katana blade and slashing zombies in half, covered in dark red blood, and was heading toward a store called "Jill's Sandwiches", where I drank some OJ to fuel up with health, threw a bottle of ketchup at an approaching zombie (which caused a huge red spot on them---"you got red on you"), then jumped on a skateboard and mowed zombies down in my path. But then I died while trying to make huge combos by bowling zombies over with bowling balls; I was given head to death by a fellactious female zombie.

Seriously. That's pure ****ing gold, man.

Um. Marching around in snow either on foot or in a slow robot with few sound effects other than the wind and the sounds of your boots crunching through the crust between short bursts of gunplay and explody enemy anus bunkers is more exciting than a constant barrage zombie killing while using every object around you? I like Lost Planet, too, but other than the pretty graphics, I can't imagine the combat or story will keep me interested for long; I found the demo became old after a few playthroughs.

Your patience knows no bounds. You're really damn elite, man. You shouldn't be here. You should be updating that Wikipedia entry on transcendental meditation. We're too lowbrow for you, apparently. Also, I really hope you don't have Tetris or Galaga around the house. I'd hate to call you a hypocrite.

I'm wondering is anyone would be interested if I did a video of the demo showing a few cool stuff? I'm feeling a bit lazy so unless there is some actual demand I'd rather go back to... doing nothing.

Try to do a footage of getting at least 500ppt action shot in HD. The most I got was 780ppts by taking a picture a split second after aiming my shotgun into the crowd.

The graphics are clean and smooth. They're not gobsmacking, but the whole aesthetic holds together pretty well and they get the point across.

The point being that I can stand in a bed of flowers and hit golfballs into zombie faces at point blank range whilst wearing short-shorts and knee-high socks. It may be shallow, but by God it's inventively shallow.

One of the best skills to cultivate in the game. Getting into that rhythm of catching the blood spray (or Pie Face, or Burnt By Frying Pan Face) before they drop is very invigorating.

The feel is certainly what this game has in spades. It's not like I've sledged zombies before, but this must be what it feels like- in a fun way. :D

Where is the snack? I'm still trying to make the zombie bait and I can't find a snack anywhere.

I just now found the golf clubs though. Awesome weapon. :lol

There are two guarenteed snacks in the shrubery surrounding the fountain that's by the courtyard entrance. Sometimes there's third in one of the garbage cans near by.

I secretly ( ok not so secretly) hate and envy all of you. My 360 is in the process of going back to MS for "service". I guess I'll buy it next week and sit on it till my tree sitty gets back from the hospital....

:(

There are two in the big downstairs toystore on shelves on the right.

I think there's one in a box up on the awning when you're heading to get the Uzi as well.
