Death Stranding |OT| Keep Walking, Nothing To See Here

Clocked 8h today and did not notice, finished episode 2, listened to that advice from gamespot not spend too much time there and it went on one breath, so far very happy with the game, only issue is terrible hud and shitty navigation, but I'm getting used to.

Is there a way to take cover from rain? It seems like most of the landscape is wide open. It says the rain breaks down cargo but I've never been able to get out of the rain and my cargo always seems fine in the end.

I think it makes the cargo more easily damaged if you drop it.

Ok bitches

I have 80 bucks in my hand and ready to buy this game.

But i want to know how it is.
Does it have a bunch of loot upgrades rpg elements etc.

Try looking for caves or something similar.
I found one at some point, but got impatient and decided to take the chance and rush through the rain.

Ruined pretty much all my cargo. Lol

Won't be enduring the walking pain this weekend with you guys. UPS finally updated my status to Monday(funny how their online chat didn't even have a clue and asked me to speak with Best Buy).

Just booked it through a Timefall downpour and guess what

It's time to POWER UP

I just played for a couple of hours. Audio/video is off the charts good. Everything else...welp, I think the story is neat so far.

Don't sit empty handed through your weekend, while most of us will be FedExin the shit out of deliveries across America.

Just cop your joint at Target, Walmart, BB ..etc and refuse Mondays delivery from UPS 👊👊👊

When death stranding was first announced i assumed it would be something like metal gear. I'm glad it's nothing like it.
Played for a few hours. There are MANY cutscenes but i was invested and paid attention to it all. Many cool ideas and i'm curious to see where it goes.

I'm no stranger to making deliveries. I love euro/american truck simulator.

You're gaining more and more craftable buildings, tools and weapons over time. It's like a videogame, but it depends on you if it's gonna be fun :messenger_tears_of_joy: Nah, I don't know what to tell you. If you want a straightforward Action RPG experience you're not gonna find it here. Best check out some gameplay if unsure.

Well shit, what a game.

Hated the look of it when Kojima demo'd it at TGS. I thought it looked atrocious, but it's actually delicious. The story you can generally follow through cut-scenes and info deck so I'm keeping up with that pretty well. There is definitely something about getting that "S" delivery, plus all the other side missions I'll be aiming for. I think it's interspersed really well with Mule / BT stealth / combat. The social side is pretty incredible as well, the way it pops up to tell you someone else has used your ladder or whatever, likes against pretty much everything. I made a point of building a post box with a ladder ahead of a mule encounter for teh likez alone.

This could be my game of the year.

Holy shit these graphics!

Yes, it is a great improvement in the graphics, they are wonderful ... in fact , the Decima Engine makes perfect scenes, everything is IN GAME! without CGI in the game, what a great improvement!

Damn, if I wasn't so far from my house, I would play, but I'm 1000km from my house and my ps4

:messenger_loudly_crying:

And is one of the final releases of ps4 games, i cant wait to see how is The last of us Part 2

Im not surprised the game is seen as quite divisive so far. I can't work out if I'm looking forward to playing more or I'm a dickhead for even buying it.

A bit early?

This is the best Kojima work I ever played... yeap the gameplay mechanics are better than any MGS.

I have no idea I will one day play a game so addictive in my life... genius.

Dont worry about the fun factor.

Nit looking for action but i need to have some sence of reward in the game.
Are there collectibles or items power ups etc in the world. Secrets etc.

He uses metaphor and essentially meme'd the character names. Something we all do online.

For your last sentence, kind of native in a way.

To quote my earlier comment about the Native aspect with naming based on skill and organizational (clan/tribe), I just noticed that Sam has a Dreamcatcher hanging from his backpack rig.

I could use some help underatanding what to do with chiral crystals and materials and the whole crafting system. I think I underatand most of it (recycling all).
Also - how to differentiate main missions from skippable non story ones?
And last one - do I wait out rain bt encounters? Sneak by? Is it time or area based?

About 7 hours in and love it! The pacing is great so far and mechanics are dense and engaging. Only walking? Fuck those idiot reviews thats not true... Maybe if You do every mission and deliver every lost cargo... I just drop everything to any drop point and continue with main story

You can use them for lots of things: Building, upgrading, creating and many more. Don't recycle everything because you'll regret later

You can't wait out BT territories as the rain a.k.a timefall is something different. Sneak past the BTs while crouched and always hold your breath when you're very near from them. Also don't forget to scan to see where they're floating as you have to stand still so they appear. As for the timefall, run. If your containers are heavily damaged then spray them to repair

It doesn't matter if the container is damaged, what matters is what's inside the container. So if the container is damaged a bit don't repair it. But if it's damaged severely it might reach 0% and then what's inside it gets damaged. We don't want that to happen now

Thanks! Did not knew I can scan for bts... I thought it alarms them :p
More about materials - should I always have some metal or resin with me? Or just keep is in personal storages if not recycle?

Is constantly holding L2 and R2 better than only pressing one or the other when you need to regain balance? It seems that way to me so far.

Its such a weird feeling playing a game that's just so different than anything else out there at the moment, especially on console. Really feels like some sort of alien artifact!

Put about 4hrs in, and liking it a lot so far. Presentation is astoundingly good.

Holding L2 + R2 you don't lose balance.
But to recover balance after lose the button that shows is faster... holding L2 + R2 take some time to him recover the balance.
I just hold L2 + R2 in surfaces that I know he will lose balance (red)... on normal surface (blue) I go faster without hold them.

You'll need lots of metal, ceramic and Chiral Crystals. They're the most used for building and upgrading. Store then in personal storage but you gotta know that each settlement got its own private storage, they don't travel around with you if I'm not mistaken. And you're most welcome, glad to help.

It won't make you run in full speed but if you're too cautious then yes, hold them all the time

Also whenever you feel your character is about to lose balance and screw shit up, hold L2+R2 without moving or touching anything else on your controller.

Dealt with my first couple of BT encounters. That signature Kojima stealth, now with extra terror! :messenger_grimmacing_

Fucking forest eeeeeeee

This game is fucking weird..... I think I might love it?
#NoMansFedEx

The story is sucking me right in. Especially after the first delivery and the dude comes to have you help him dispose of the body. It was set up like a good sci-fi book or film where you get an idea, but you want to know more.

Especially the comment about the dead bodies creating a crater.

It feels like a sci-fi Silent Hill in a way. Black Mirror vibes as well.

The gameplay requires really precise maneuvers to deal with the most extreme environments. It's really good!

Few hours in now and really enjoying it. Graphics are stunning and I'm loving the story so far, which is really interesting and very weird, in the best possible way.

I'm finding the gameplay to be very satisfying so far. Controls are responsive and easy to learn. Navigating the landscape is like a big puzzle, finding the best routes and using the right equipment to reach the destination. Love the soundtrack too.

The online system works great, finding helpful things and dropping it a bunch of likes, works really well and getting likes from other players for items you leave behind feels rewarding.

It's a slower paced game for sure but so far it's everything I wanted it to be. It's fast becoming one of my favourite games this gen.

Also BB is awesome. :)

Just got done with my first bit of playing and wow, this game is great. I can totally understand a lot of people not liking it, but I'm absolutely loving it. The only thing I don't understand was so much talk of "walking simulator" and "4 hours until gameplay". Sure the game has a lot of cutscenes but the gameplay is actually quite densely packed with lots of mechanics and variety. Maybe the problem is it doesn't have the gameplay people were expecting or wanted? Like yeah, it's not a third person shooter/action game. That doesn't mean it "has no gameplay".

OK, the game becomes infinitely better after the first 8h or so. Feeling it now! I just wish Kojima hadn't named his damn characters like MEGA MAN bosses. Deadman? Die-Hardman?
