Deception IV |OT| Delta Horse Humiliation Game

As a user previously mentioned in this thread, I was surprised on how important timing is when it comes to using traps. I was expecting it to be a bit less "actiony", with a larger focus on trap placement and positioning, but what's here is fun.

It's been awhile since I played Deception. I may have to consider getting it.

Also, I'm disappointed there's a lack of Admiral Ackbar in this thread. It's one of the few places it'd be so appropriate, even if it's an old meme.

Last one I played was Kagero Deception II. I enjoyed it, until I started feeling pretty morbid about what was happening xD

Will probably check this out when it gets a price cut or two. Same core game play mechanics look to be around, just a little flashier looking.

Did someone call for m---oh. The OTHER GUY.

I'm the same as many in the thread, last I played was Deception II. Going to bite into this shortly, though I'm not looking forward to the looks I get on the subway for this lady's plunging V-Neck down her back. Goddamnit, Japan.

Played for about 4 hours in a row after getting my Vita version in the mail today.

It is really fun, and there is definitely more strategy now than there was when I played TRAPT, thanks to enemies "learning" the traps and the many different ways traps interact with each other now.

However, the Nun boss in Ch4 was a PAIN, as was the knight in Ch3 that could cause tremors.

Otherwise, fantastic game, still brings out the sadist in me, although I miss the square/triangle/cross layout for trap buttons, it's sorta back here, but not really.

The Nun was my wakeup call, from that point I knew I had to learn which trap combos were sure shots and how important the layout was to giving me time to turn on traps without getting skewered.

This game gets hard a lot faster than any of the earlier games. You get, like, one chapter of idiots, then they are on you like that.

She wasnt too bad considering the AI on her is dumb enough to run into the same setup over and over and over and over again. Just kept launching her through the "car wash" till she died.

Its the next boss in that area which is the real pain in the ass. If you havent gotten to him yet good luck.

I really hope this gamne has a new game plus! I plan on owning everything with the higher level traps once I'm done.
I let too many evil people escape I don't mind (and encourage) the civilians to bounce. Even when I'm the badguy I'm the goodguy.

I noticed that, it's gotten to a point where the interlopers seem to be coming on a conveyor belt, 2 to 3 at a time with rough mixes of immunity, thankfully I'm learning to create traps that have backup properties in case of a pesky immunity mid sequence.

I really like the Deception series. I own the original Tecmo's Deception. However, this game looks like anime porn. Can anyone who has played this game confirm or deny if this game is about torturing anime babes so I can know if it's gross or not?

You torture both guys and gals with 2D daemon advisers that you can turn off.

This is just like the others. Arguably less anime than III and IV, since the protagonist has a spine this time, unlike Reina and Alicia.

I can be quoted as saying I was skipping this due to its "look"..would have regretted that decision immensely!! This is deception for sure, the anime 'helpers" even ended up growing on me!

I spent entirely too much time playing this today (just cleared chap. 8) and I really need to get a better handle on the armor break stuff. The "weakness" thing will pop up all the time for me but I cant seem to bust their armor off. I guess a quick run through the armor break tutorial is in order.

I'm really surprised that there is no survival mode option in the menu. Didn't Trapt have that option or am I just imagining stuff? The quest creation and sharing seems like a more than generous trade though.

This is kind of weird statement to make, especially since mechanically it's very similar to the previous games and I don't think the art style has change a whole lot from Trapt either. I could see someone finding the series offensive, but not having a problem with the previous games and then being offended by this game is odd.

or (appropriately fixed)...

Get off your delta horse and do a few seconds of research.

Mission 58 is defeat 10 or more enemies out of 18..maybe a higher level mission adds more enemies!

This game is like crack. I'm on Chapter 4 now after being up too late last night playing it.
Heading into chapter nine, about to stop and sleep, I really hope this game has a new game+ I have trap concepts spinning around in my head, I'm able to hold 12 traps and use 7 on the field at this point.

Australian release was supposed to be today, but nope, delayed until next month. =\ Just gonna import it now. The wait continues!

I hate to beat a dead delta horse. But really man....? The game at its core is Deception. Same solid mechanics that have evolved over five games. It just have a nice coat of bloody paint and an anime finish. Theres plenty of vids that show this.

If you really have been chased by Ardebaran you would have no problem diving into this without question.

I goofed and after thinking I removed The Witch and the Hundred Knight from my Gamefly queue, it showed up in my mailbox and now it'll probably be two weeks before I get this.

Guess I'll see if Gamestop got a copy on Vita after work :p

"anime porn"

"anime babes"

You must love the original Deception so much that you never left the 90s

Using the lock on and having your character stand there, glancing back at her impending victim as they approach the first trap... it's great. Between this and The Witch and the Hundred Knight, so much villainy.

Love it when a plan comes together (read: happens accidentally)

In the courtyard with the chariot, I got some crazy combo that launched the guy, the chariot rider's sword swing hit him in mid-air which prompted some QTE, which I hit, then he bounced off something and landed on the spike in the middle of the fountain.

my only problem with the game is that it could probably stand to have some more permanent gore effects. Seems weird having all this stuff happen to someone, then they keel over like they've died of exhaustion.

that and the camera sometimes doesn't capture the action very well.

Deception with Mortal Kombat x-ray tech, I have a dream.

It's $20 cheaper on Vita and the only difference, graphics aside, is the lack of that Youtube upload feature. I went with it.

Just finished chapter on the vita version. beautiful game, really love how it plays.

Looking forward to unlocking more traps and really going all out.

Also really looking forward to the hot cosplay girls.

Does anyone know how the demon requests work in regards to achievements?

When I finished chapter 2, I fulfilled all the sadistic and humiliation demon requests, but couldn't manage to pull off the elaborate requests. Do the unfinished ones carry over to the next chapter? Or do you have to actually fulfill them on a per chapter basis, meaning if you don't complete them in a chapter you can't go back to them?

I haven't tried free mode yet, so I don't know if you can knock out the demon requests there or not...

I am on Chapter 5 and... I hate this chapter so much.

Agreed. It's so bad.

I HATE Archers, Assassins, and Spears, yet I get a mixture of the three for a whole chapter, and each one is immune to so many things at once.

I had a guy, I think, who was immune/resistant to floor traps, ceiling traps, and boulders.

And I've been playing pretty much red traps exclusively with some blues thrown in, I NEVER touch orange at all, ironically. I get exp for orange when I accidentally complete a quest for her, like "go to this room".

Humiliating traps are great for "crowd control". Iron Rake for example, I can't remember an enemy that's immune to it. Doesn't do much damage but keeps them busy for a couple seconds, also moves them a square ahead which is great for setting up for another stationary trap.

Some of them even do decent damage like evil stomp, black hole and delta horse (that also ignores armor).

FOR REALLLL! >__<

watching my replays and seeing the MC through most of it is ridiculous, the camera should at least have an option to stay on the victims the whole time -__-

reminds me of Shinobi PS2 after you do one of those special finishers. you're supposed to see blood sprays and shinobi putting his sword away or something, but the camera's just pointing nowhere lol

Ha ha! JUST like that!

WAIT..An ability that lets you use the same trap multiple times(maybe up to 4 times) would be beautiful..and a character creation thing for multiplayer where you can choose the look the weapons and select up to 2 immunities. I'm seeing the future through your post!

You can change the camera to focus on the victimtarget by holding down the trigger opposite the lock-on button while you're locked on. So if you have lock-on by holding R1, hold L1 while holding R1 to have the camera shift to that target. It's useful for timing traps (and watching people get mauled), but it's not that practical since this game like throwing multiple enemies at once at you.

Did not know that! Thanks for the awesome info!

Been curious about this game, but I also just noticed today that Trapt was added to the PS2 classics section. Is there any reason to play that over the new one or should I just put those extra $10 towards Deception 4? Watched a few gameplay videos of both and the vibe of the older game seemed a bit better (somber?)

The new game is an upgrade in a lot of ways, I agree the tone is different to a degree, but the trap variety and emphasis on combo's makes that extra 10 dollars worth it.
