Scratch that... The demo dates at my local Best Buy have vanished from the website. What the hell.![]()
People must remember when you get the PSVR home. The experience should be better because you have to set it up and the big thing will be IPD(Interpupillary distance), you don't get to do this at tradeshows or these in store demos. They will have a software solution IPD set up, Vive and Rift IPD is manual and on the HMD, Sony solution is not. So remember that when you test out PSVR.
Why will the home version of PSVR be IPD? Did they take it out at the tradeshows and Best Buy units?
I'm confused.

I played Rocket League after trying this and all I could think of is how much more enjoyable it would be if I could follow the ball with PSVR head tracking than with the right stick or ball cam.
Nope it's probably not out of the tradeshow/store demo it's probably at a default IPD. When you are at home when you first start, just think of setting up your PS4 Camera to log you in with facial recognition, so the PSVR will have your profile built in through software and adjust the IPD to you each and everytime you use it or it may vary from game to game. I just think a lot of people don't realize this when they are giving impressions and fail to realize that the IPD is more than likely not ideal for use, when you playing these games. Maybe that blurry text or texture is a bit better when the HMD is tailored to you instead of a random number.
What resolutions is the headsets???
Man, what was shown on the TV and the headsets were worlds apart.
On tv, it looked 1080p, but in the headset, looked like 480.
I was like..................eeewwwwwww. Everything was so pixelated and blocky looking that things in the distance were just a single fucking pixel in that eve game.
ZThis is the best example of how it looked to me. With the PC picture is how it looked on the TV and the xbox is how the game looked in the headsets.

Occulus was super super uncomfortable especially getting it on right after trying PSVR (literally the guy was like 50 ft away from the PSVR booth). Had to take of my glasses and really tighten the thing on my face. Even then it just felt in the way all the time.I've read so many comments about how PSVR is very comfortable to wear I'm surprised neither Oculus or HTC just ripped off PSVR design, I mean the way it rest on your forehead. rather than strapped to your eye/face.
Got to try London Heist at a GameStop and wow so freaking awesome. I was sold already on VR but this sealed the deal. I was smiling the whole time. I wanted to open the door on one of those motorcyclist but never got a chance.
And I tried your suggestions about adjusting not just the screen but the headset itself and I finally found that sweet spot. So thanks for that!
Talked to the rep a bit. Best Buy has pretty strict rules on the type of demos they are allowed to show so Gamestop and Best Buy are showing different demos.Headhunter (Soccer Game) was great, I liked that my head was the control and the demo was humorous
The display is good but I think the rep didn't clean one side all the way, left side was blurry a bit but the right was clean. It did look grainy though.
Sucks no one has the Heist demo anywhere in AZ.
EDIT: Also more people need to try battlezone
Blurry.
Fuzzy.
Screen-door effect.
Those are the words I would use to describe the image quality when I tried PSVR for the first time at GameStop a few days ago. If I remember correctly, before the demo started, the white text on the black background appeared low-resolution and wobbly.
I'm obsessed with picture quality, always have been. I won't play video games if I'm not happy with the picture quality of the console-to-video display connection.
I love the OLED's perfect black level, but I was expecting each individual pixel to be crystal clear and perfectly defined.
I was doing the dumb thing people do who havent played games before, leaning left and right to "dodge" bullets. I was doing it...a lot. Really felt like I was in a tank get hit with artillery.
I wonder if people who are going to be doing VR several hours a day that have trained their brain to ignore stuff flying at them in VR will have problems with dangerous situations in real life. I mean, that sounds a bit silly, but really how would your brain know the difference between VR and real life?
I've done all of the demos, and Ocean Descent actually gives you the best sense of presence. Well, The Heist is probably better still with the wands, but once the shooting starts, you forget about the "VRness" and just concentrate on returning fire. Which I suppose is also indicative of strong presence, I suppose. lolI tried Valkyrie since I figure flying games and driving games would give me the best idea of the tech and the best experience.
I'm pissed because the dates for two stores near me vanished and those dates popped up for one store like two hours away in a town I loathe driving to.It happens sometimes, employees get swapped out or fired. Last minute cancellation are bound to happen.

I'm also kinda sad RIGS isn't demoed. But yeah Headmaster was legit but I kinda wanted to play EVE but I already did it with Oculus, I forgot the Tank game which had me yelling in my mind why I didn't pick it.
Having tried EVE, Battlezone, and The Descent, I feel like Battlezone has by far the best gameplay and The Descent has by far the the best presence. I feel like Eve Valkyrie is a jack of all trades master of none. Valkyrie is still fun, but I found the other two were more exciting in terms of the overall vr experience.
RIGS is primarily a multiplayer game (Have they said anything about single player content? All the demos for it at any showing have been vs matches), so demoing it in this format would require multiple headsets and a larger format and training for the reps/setup... much more complicated arrangement... even though the game and experience is fucking awesome.
This and the 4v4 EVE booth at PSX last year were what sold me on PSVR.

Yeah they mentioned they had a career mode with bots sorta like any other sports game and can contract different player with different skills to change how the bots maneuver. Kinda interesting if you ask me.

That....is actually a really interesting question. I wondr if it dampens some of those auto responses like catching a ball just before it hits your face that you didnt see coming.
I would definitely try out the "Heist" demo since only gamestop has it at the moment, looks super sick.I might head to a Gamestop to try some of the other demos. Any suggestions?
