Is it just me, or does anyone else have trouble taking media polls seriously after they failed to predict the Trump election? It still seems weird to me how they could get it so wrong in this one instance.

They really werent that wrong, it was within a normal polling error of about 2%. 538 was talking about how that was possible the entire month of October

Then how did a black president get elected twice? Did white america change their mind after Obama? The argument needs more backing than what the article provided. That yougov study doesn't provide cause for a Trump victory other than that people are implicitly racist.

There's evidence that White America gets threatened when minorities start becoming numerous in thier neighborhoods: http://www.vox.com/2017/1/18/14296126/white-segregated-suburb-neighborhood-cartoon

So essentially most Americans like diversity. They just don't want them as neighbors.

Any old, rich white lady who carries around a bottle of hot sauce in her purse is lady after my own heart. Reminds me of my abuela in Albuquerque.

The hot sauce she was carrying around since the early 90s? I don't even want to defend Clinton here but it's this blatant kind of ignorance that pisses me off when it comes to politics. You'd rather believe the abuela thing and the hot sauce thing were some kind of high level pandering strategy even in the face of evidence proving otherwise.

^^not only lost in the wilderness, but eating each other apparently...

I'm no Democrat, but I sure as hell am not going to sit around and watch someone spout willful ignorance and not call them out on it. Regardless of who they are and what they believe in. That's how we got to where we are.

Once the next round of voting restrictions sails through, the Democrats will never again win the Presidency, and will never again hold a Congressional majority.

Look no further than Russia, where opposition parties are essentially extinct, to see where we're headed.

No matter what voting restrictions the GOP tries to implement it won't be able to prevent democrats from getting the white house and maybe congress again. Voters will get tired of the GOP in 4 to 8 years from now and vote against them. It's really hard for a poliitcal party to hold the white house for decades now.The GOP's congressional majority is also going to be lost eventually once the GOP's current house seats in the south and west open up for the democrats.

What mo60 said.

The Democrats need a strategy, but this is just the ebb and flow of politics. When people start getting fed up with Trump, more Democrats will be voted in. When people get fed up with the next Democrat president, Republicans will be voted in.
