Wow, I thought you might be exaggerating, but you aren't at all. Absolutely no sense of tension or scares/frights in this trailer whatsoever. It's presented more like an Action trailer than a Horror trailer IMO.there was nothing scary about this trailer

There's some interesting imagery, but it's just presented/executed in a way that completely undermines its potential to be horrifying/terrifying. Not sure what the point of this trailer is.
Ya guys, where the hell has Neil been since Chappie?...
Did you watch Elysium and Chappie? I really like Elysium. I found Chappie enjoyable as well, though I can understand why some people hate it.After District 9, I'll always check to see if Neil can pull me back in. Had such a blast with that movie.
Yeah, I enjoyed both to different extents, but didn't love them. I keep meaning to watch "Oats" though.Did you watch Elysium and Chappie? I really like Elysium. I found Chappie enjoyable as well, though I can understand why some people hate it.
Never heard of it. Now I'm frantically searching for it. Much appreciated.Yeah, I enjoyed both to different extents, but didn't love them. I keep meaning to watch "Oats" though.
Will be on Youtube, I think. Short films.Never heard of it. Now I'm frantically searching for it. Much appreciated.
He has been making some awesome short films and putting them on YouTube. Check out Oats Studios
I think he's the sort of director that pairs really well with a talented screenwriter.Neil Blomkamp has been a frustrating director to watch over time.
Only because I feel like he hit the ground running so hard with District 9, followed with a film like Elysium which was pretty good, and then just shat the bed with Chappie.
I only say that because District 9 is an absolute classic to me, and it bums me out that I haven't seen him achieve the same heights whether in storytelling, or filmmaking, since then.
I'll give this a watch without a doubt, but that trailer didn't get me pumped at all.
I watched both Rakka (Neill's short) and Zygote last night. Both were good. Zygote's monster is the stuff of nightmares, so kudos to C ClanOfNone for that reco. Rakka was interesting, though it ends right before things get interesting. I wouldn't mind seeing a full-length film fleshing out that story. I'd like more of the events leading to it, plus what happens afterwards.

I think I'll subscribe to their channel, and binge their offerings one day.

Working on an Aliens sequel that Ridley Scott had killed in favor of his shitty Alien movies that were him trying to retcon Aliens, and then Robocop Returns before dropping out of it.
I think his work with Weta was highly influential. That's like half his aesthetic, the other half being an evolution of those Citroen and shoes ads.I know his movies aren't the best (when looked upon objectively and critically) but the design of weapons and other shit is next to noone in my opinion..

District 9 was South African weapons and Halo props from his cancelled movie painted white. The Flood was recycled into the little cockfighting creatures, the Elites were turned into the prawns.
