Summon help for easy mode
Arch demons are basically the big bosses of each arch stone (think of it like how you needed to collection the fragments of Gwen’s soul from DS by killing the bed of chaos, Sif, gravelord neato and the four kings)"Only those who have slain an archdemon may pass beyond this point"
I've had two days of anticipation and waiting, just to read this. What in the hell in an archdemon, and what do I even do now? Last thing I did was beat tower knight.
Re-roll Royal and follow the path of magic. Use a guide. That’s if you’re seriously feeling like giving up. You might feel like an observer who is just pressing a button to win, but it’s a sure fire way to the end.Can they add easy mode? I feel like I've wasted 70 bucks
Don't eat the boss souls! They are for weapons later!
I wish Sony's refund policy was better. I'd rather have sackboyRe-roll Royal and follow the path of magic. Use a guide. That’s if you’re seriously feeling like giving up. You might feel like an observer who is just pressing a button to win, but it’s a sure fire way to the end.

Its FROM's way of telling you "You aint ready for this area yet" Its true that if you are experienced you could probably suffer through it, but as a new player I dont recommend you go through there until leveling some major stats. Hopefully you didint die as a human in that world too much, check at the start of the level to see if anythign has changed. Each archstone geenerally has leves that are easy at first but then get tougher within each world as you go...try a couple other first tier levels."Only those who have slain an archdemon may pass beyond this point"

YEs! How could someone eat the Hero soul and miss out on second chance miracleThe weapons they yield are generally not the greatest, IMO. Now the spells and miracles...oooh baby.
You bought a Souls game, You should have known what you are getting yourself in to.Can they add easy mode? I feel like I've wasted 70 bucks

Ah, I have to move on them I suppose. Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll try that slummy looking Blighttown area next. I'll come back after a few more bosses!Arch demons are basically the big bosses of each arch stone (think of it like how you needed to collection the fragments of Gwen’s soul from DS by killing the bed of chaos, Sif, gravelord neato and the four kings)
In other words: you can’t continue in world 1 for now, try going through the other arch stones to gather archdemon souls
I recommend doing 1-1, 1-2, World 2,3,4,5, then 1-3, optional - cleanup stuff in all other worlds, then 1-4.Ah, I have to move on them I suppose. Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll try that slummy looking Blighttown area next. I'll come back after a few more bosses!

712. Which you will never reach, so just think of it as no level capI haven’t really progressed much but I’ve been sort of grinding as I feel like I need some more strength as melee class is tough in a lot of situations especially in narrow corridors.
I beat the spider and have been grinding the skeletons in 4-1. I had collected up 14k souls from grinding and made a stupid mistake died and then another stupid mistake and lost the souls I’d grinded. I just laughed at myself cause it was my fault. I’m grinding because I’m trying to learn to parry with the weird off timing of these guys and it’s really interesting how much difference good weapons and gear can make!
Seriously this game is stupidly good the level design is out of this world. I actually look forward to replaying as a magic user with light armour and see what kind of difference it makes. I’m so glad I pushed through and kept at it until I learned despite how hard I find it. I’m one of those people who thought this game should have an easy mode but I think I understand now why it would ruin the game to have it there.
Red eyes still one shoting me. Blues are easy now though. Think im only soul level 22 or something so still early I think. Level 99 cap?
Easy mode is levelling up your character and weapons. Grind a little and stay ahead of the difficulty curve so you aren't being one shottedCan they add easy mode? I feel like I've wasted 70 bucks
Cleared 2-1 last night. I took it slow and didn't really get hit much working through the level. There was one part where some wolves jump out unexpected, but I had my shield up while walking so they didn't wreck me. All the noise from the zombie miner guys made the level really creepy. I'm done 1-1, 1-2, 2-1, 3-1 now. I think I'll try 4-1 next. I've farmed the skeletons there for a bit so I'm familiar with some of the level already.
Should I be finding new gear or upgrading my current gear yet? I'm playing Royalty. Other then the Crescent Falchion +1 I got in 4-1 I am still using all the starting gear they gave me. When I go to the blacksmith he doesn't give me an option to upgrade anything other then my buckler. I also am not sure how to get new spells. I think I read somewhere I should trade Demon's Souls in for them, but I haven't seen an NPC for that. There's an NPC in the Nexus for new Faith spells, but I haven't found one that offers the same for Magic.
When leveling should I be focusing on other stats? Right now I have only mostly pumped Intelligence and Magic power, with a little but of the HP stat. I've ignored all the rest. I'm trying to play more of a pure caster.
This is the crescent falchion. Its good early because it's already levelled (the equivalent of falchion +6 -> crescent +1). So to upgrade it you need Darkmoonstone, and you need to find the other blacksmith in 2-1 or 2-2 I can't remember
It only scales with magic, so you need to decide if you're going all in on magic, or want to be more balanced. Your big gains will come from the scaling on magic, so you'll need to be looking at maybe 40+ points in it. If you're going magic then you will be at a distance so endurance won't be a massive drain on levelling, although if you are magic based it would probably be worth having a bow to fall back on.
Advanced magic or spells are tied to side quests, so you complete the sidequest chain and then they appear in the nexus to purchase them from, I think it's the sage for magic. I wouldn't worry about armour, I'd rock one piece heavy and one piece fashion that keeps you below 50% encumberance. Remember to send everything back to stockpile from the menu to keep weight low. I think from memory
INT = number of spells and how many you can cast (mana)
MAG = power of spells
Soulsgaf, I played the original Demon's Souls all the way back with a royal, magic build. It was my first one, so I chose "easy mode". In all the other souls games, I rolled a sword & board character. I like to be able to block and take a hit, but if possible avoid the "heavy roll". Am I alright with rolling a Temple Knight, strength build? I want some miracles to heal, second chance and maybe something to boost my armor/attack power. Also, I would prefer having a sword that I can switch to two handed if the situation demands for it. Is the claymore a good option?
So how do I get one if I need one to fight an archdemon, but to get it, I already have to have it?
Just depends on your play style. Royal is pretty weak at melee starting out, magic just gives you a DECENT ranged option early on. If you're not going to be playing magic/faith primarily though, you're probably better off picking the knight. You can always change ANY of the characters focus though so even if you pick the knight or barbarian, you could switch it to ranged or magic or faith later. The starting class really just dictates starting equipment and what you need to focus on early on for play style. So is picking royal class=easy mode?
I'd go with the ring. You can easily grind by replaying 1-1 a couple of times before facing the first boss and you'll get plenty of firebombs using that ring. I think I had 12 after just two runs, and 5 pine resins so I could make my sword flame and pepper the boss with tons of firebombs. The Ring or Firebombs. The ring makes farming easier, for me that is much more important than one use consumables, but this is more thinking of later stages in the game. For early use, the Firebombs are great for the first boss.
This is a common misconception that magic = easy. The weapon the royal has is very weak. Magic builds don't typically wear armor or use a heavy shield. They have a parry shield and use rolling and evasion. Magic will help you get through a few levels and if you level it properly this is one of the few souls games where high level magic is insanely good.So is picking royal class=easy mode?
I'm really trying to git gud with this game but I might just have to once again concede that Souls games aren't for me.
I've played this now for 12 hours. I probably lost 3 of those hours due to a bug when I first played through that had me stuck and required me to start over. In 9 hours I've been able to beat the boss at the end of 1-1, and I've made it to the boss at 1-2 a few times but never have beat him. My character is at soul level 21 and I'm playing a magic build (royal) so I keep putting points in magic, but it doesn't seem like my spell gets much stronger? I've probably lost about 50,000 souls so far from dying (then dying again before I can get back to the same spot). I see people saying that I need to upgrade my weapons, but I haven't found an option to upgrade my staff. I found a different staff but the stats on it were much worse than my starting equipment.
I can't help but shake the feeling that I'm just playing this game entirely wrong.

This is good to know. The few times I've gotten some shots off at the tower knight with my soul arrow, it did like 28 damage. Next time I play I'll try going up the stairs and see if I can build a safe zone.I haven't played a magic build on Demon's Souls since when I played it back on PS3, but I do remember Soul Arrow should be able to take out Tower Knight if a few shots as he is very weak to it. For that fight you can also run up the stairs behind him at the start to take out the soldiers and get a safe area to shoot your Soul Arrows at him.
You want to be buying more spells as well from NPCs that you come across in different worlds. Note that Souls Arrow is effective against some enemies, but at the same time is one of the weakest offensive spells in the game.
Also you CANNOT upgrade your catalyst if I remember correctly. All your scaling is from Magic level. Keep in mind that there are also several melee weapons in the game that scale to Magic as well.
Also good to know. I tried 2-1 for a while but the enemies were not giving me very many souls and they took 2-3 magic shots to die so I thought maybe the game was punishing me for moving ahead too quickly.Do you have the crescent falchion? I'd get that as you're going magic and it will help with melee output/decent weapon. Also I'd probably say do 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, 5-1 then 1-2
If you have the antidote miracle or plenty of anti-poison flowers, and you have thief ring and/or cloak spell, go get the Large sword of Moonlight from 5-2. 5-1's fairly easy to get thru and the boss is cake..then you just have to survive poison swamp long enough to get the sword. It scales 'S' on faith and is truly awesome.I’d like to go faith, any non-spoiler tips that can point me in the right direction?
I started temple knight, just beat the Armored Spider (face tanked everything and beat him after I used my last healing item and had no health left, true souls experience). The enemies in the beginning of 2-2 are kicking my teeth in, so clearly I need to keep upgrading my weapons but I’d like to move toward a faith build.
I’m using a claymore right now and I invested enough to get my strength to 20, everything else has been vit and endurance.

I'll have to look into that sword that scales with my magic stat, that sounds like it'd be a good idea.

I snuck thru there at soul level 18, I believe and now I have the power of the moon for these lower levels.

This is why the souls genre continues to be niche and not taken seriously
Moonlight Sword is in this game ! World 5 here I come.
I recommend doing 1-1, 1-2, World 2,3,4,5, then 1-3, optional - cleanup stuff in all other worlds, then 1-4.
You have to fight and beat Flamelurker, Dirty Collosus, or the Old Monk, I believe, to be able to progress to 1-3. They are archdemons.
Great info. I'll keep chugging along. Currently in the mines, trying not to get flamed by the fat hats.Archdemon is the last boss of the world. You can't go further into the first world until you complete another level.
