Just finished the game... absolutely phenomenal onto dark souls remastered now, any build recommendations ? Firestorm literally wrecked every boss once I had it so looking towards sword and board to actually l2parry.
If you want the total opposite of the ez mode mage build, do a thief character with a parrying dagger in the left hand. Forget shields exist and git guddest.

There are so many builds I'd love to try.... Especially builds just custom tailed to a specific special weapon. It's endless.

I've beaten it with a claymore knight build..

And i'm at the end of game basically with a magic build with royal class(talk about EASY) compared to the above lol...

I'm thinking of trying a moonlight sword faith build next. or maybe a samurai

Does anyone else have a problem with messages not being rated? I get that the community maybe isn't the largest this close to launch but not a single message rated and I've put close to 40 hours into it. I put up the usual crowd pleasers but nothing. Feels like a bug.

There is hope I will get ps5 this january.
The retailer that cancelled my nov 19th order finally came back to me and asked if I want to reserve a unit sometime in january since there is a shipment scheduled for 2nd half of january.
No que as their apology. They took my money and once it's in, it's shipping they say.
Would be ncie as I have Demons Souls on the shelf for some time now. Even gave my ps4 slim to nephew yesterday :p

But DeS remake is a PS3 game with a paint job. ;)

The game design still completely holds up. With a new coat of paint, 60 FPS, and basically no load times, it feels like a completely different experience. I do wish they kept the original voice recordings, though. Not quite sure why they changed that.

Skip the shield, either go 2-hand or some parry shield / dagger. Tbh if you go for something like Large Club / Zweihander 2-handed all the time then even that is easy mode despite being shieldless, since you can pankcake everything.

Funnily enough, I ran down to the graveyard after starting it today and picked up the zwei and it really does pancake everything, using the standard warrior gear otherwise, I've only had an hour on it but a mate of mine said to remove all armor to get to sub 25% for the fastest roll, is it more cosmetic this time round because all the resistances still show but I suppose evasion beats taking one on the chin.

Platinumed the game. Had to go to ng+5 to get the final boss souls but we able to beat ng+4 in three sittings on Christmas day. Took maybe 4-5 hours. Some tips:

- 3-1 ballista arrows damage does not scale up in ng+ like regular enemy damage so just roll past the arrows. You can tank upto 8 hits without warding.
- 4-2 in pure black spawns a red ninja knight right before the final reaper. You can take the hero bonfire and sneak up behind him with soul sucker to get double souls. I was getting 60k souls in ng+2. Equip the catalyst in the right hand to extend range or he will turn around and kill you.
- Equip the sodden ring to kill maiden astrea for the trophy. You can drop down and run right up to her. You will have a good 45 seconds before he shows up. Equip the plague ring just to be sure you don't get plagued on the way there.
- Use godwrath on phalanx to destroy all shields in one hit. It's amazing. You can even hide behind a pillar. Just make sure it's attuned before you go down to fight the final boss.
- always kill the maiden in the final boss area to get the soul of the old one in ng+ runs. Its worth 200k souls.
- Build a quality +5 bow no matter what build you are using. It will outdamage the lava bow even with low dex stats. Use it to kill the storm demon. Way easier and faster than the storm ruler. Soul arrow for mages works too.
- Don't fight old hero on ng+ cycles without a thief ring. He stays aggro'd far longer. But with thief ring he forgets about you right away.

Yeah totally. My post was sarcastic obviously. An amazing game and experience. Not just the visuals and performance but the audio is top notch. Dragon bridge, prison of hope and storm boss fight stand out.

What's a smart soul level for invasions and helping people? I've a level 66 faith build, and a 95 level magic. These too high?

I essentially want to invade and also get summoned, and do so on most (all?) areas.

If my above characters are too high, I can always start a new one.

I hated Dark Souls 2, and skipped on DS3 since I was to the point that I didn't want to play this type of game with a low frame rate anymore. After completing Demon's Souls, I jumped in DS3 since it's boosted on PS5 and am in love with this one as well. For anyone that hasn't played it, or if Demon's Souls was your first jump onto the series, give it a shot. It really does look great on PS5.

ugh ladies and gentlemen, that's a wrap of Demon's Souls remake on PS5. 68 hours with three playthroughs later the platinum popped. My first ever proper souls experience. Even an insignificant victory in a particular area felt like an omg achievement. But boy oh boy one tiny mistake I make, it'd cost my life and progression. No wonder many of you'll enjoy the souls game. I am now officially part of the club then, now right? What should be my next souls game? Dark Souls Remastered is going on sale, should I go for it?

Dark Souls for sure.

copy that cap, getting the remastered now. Should be downloaded in an hour or less :D
There are few of "quality of life" changes the souls games made coming from demon's souls, that I didn't notice at the time. Just shows how proper the design is. Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3 are more "convenient" builds of the series, but they aren't any less challenging, or make you feel like you are playing in some sort of hand holding mode. They were tweaked in respect to the changes, and I love them so much for it. Definitely jump into Dark Souls, then grab Dark Souls 3 when you finish that (or catch it on sale beforehand).

Agreed, Dark Souls tells a story with it's world that is still very unique in a now-crowded series. DeS had an almost Mega Man mindset, with linear stages & a hub world level select. DaS is different, the entire world is one continuous thing, built almost as a giant spiral going up and down. The world itself has such masterful interconnection, the levels wrapping in and around themselves, enabling for all sorts of fun sequence breaking (start with the Master's Key). I want to say it is like a Metroidvania, yet it has no filler hallways or copy-paste sections. Every room is highly memorable; the architecture, the enemy placement, its place in the lore, etc.

Dark Souls 3 should be after that, as you will find many connections to both DeS and DaS. There are new versions of the Nexus, Tower of Latria, and Boletaria throughout. Designed as the "final Souls game" it is almost like going back to where they came from. This is the one that will also look and play most closely to the DeS remake

Dark Souls 2 is the controversial one, and imo is the worst, but is still definitely worth playing. If you make it through the 3 great ones, this has tons and tons of content, and be sure to play the DLCs, which are some of the best.

DLCs for all the Souls are actually really high quality and some of the best levels and bosses in the games. You really need to play them all.

Sup guys. I know I was banned from replying to this thread cus of me begging for an easy mode.

Anyway, this past week I've basically just been grinding the game out and it's pretty amazing. I played 7 hours straight tonight, have a masssive headache but made it to the King Allant Boss fight. I tried it once and he screwed me up. It's gonna be a tough one. I'm like a magic build just spam firestorm and soul ray lmao.. but yeah Allant is gonna take me time.

Anyways I am glad I went back to the game it's really good. Hopefully I can beat it tomorrow

King Allant seems tough at first but his attack is easy to read and you can even manipulate what attack his does. If you stay far away from him, he mostly dose his magic storm attack which you can easily interrupt him and his charge attack which you easily dodge and then punish him.

I got used to the visuals in this game and now that I'm playing Ghost of Tsushima, the textures look so insanely basic a lot of the time. You really feel the generational difference.

Almost everything else looks like an eye sore after experiencing demon souls remake. Kidding, but honestly I can easily see a generational difference when i go back to any older games or even newly released games for that matter. BluePoint have delivered a real GOAT here!

Here's a tip. Unequip your armor, leggings and helmet. if you're playing non mage(physical attributes like Strength and endurance build), use your weapon to do the attacks when he does the flying charge attack, roll your way out of trouble. Rinse and repeat. The advantage of not equipping any armor or leggings or helmet is it gives you greater mobility in dodges and dodges are so damn important to the demon possessed false king. I took him down in 2 minutes with this strategy :D

Please do ds2 a chance sometime... It became my fav in the series...
Be sure to play ds3 dlc btw

I played all those games many times. All of those are my fav games that spoiled other games for sure.
A bit afraid to jump into des once I get ps5... Afraid it will be a step back from the series as many call it beta souls

My Saint’s Trophy wont unlock. Any idea why?

Ive bought all miracles and traded all demon souls. He doesn’t have any left in his inventory but the trophy doesn’t unlock.

The game doesn’t let me end the ng++ (fractured mode activated). Is it normal?
when i kill the false king it gives me his soul but when i return to the nexus everything is normal and the final sequence and fight does not activate

Defeating Allant isn't what triggers the Nexus change, it's beating all 5 realms completely. So you need to beat Allant, the Dragon God, the Old Monk, the Storm King, and Maiden Astraea.

I usually do Astraea last, because of just how much I dislike world 5.

Mainly because the dagger guys attack super fast, there are lots of them, and they can stun lock to KO you pretty easily, at least once you are in NG+ and beyond.

Good shield with high guard break is ideal for those types of enemies (magic for sniping also helps - although it kinda beats a lot of the difficulty attached to it). A good shield with high guard break, along with a thrusting sword/pole/halberd works great for builds that prefer up-close combat.

lol me too. i keep it for last and dreaded going in on NG+5.

but with sodden ring, thief ring and cloak spell you can literally run through the entire level in around 2 minutes. the boss is piss easy with firestorm killing him in one hit. just finished running it. it was so painless i couldnt believe it.

Beat all the arch demon's, and used the blue dragon to beat the one hero's dark version. Beat the old king last night too. Just need to beat the blue dragon and the last duder.

I officially beat Demon's Souls! This was my first time beating a souls game and it honestly was a great experience. Demon's Souls did a great job showing off Dualsense while providing a great memorable experience overall.

I plan on playing more Souls games after this. I give it 8.8/10!

So just so we're clear; The PvP in this game consists, pretty much solely, of getting one hit killed with the Dragon Bone Smasher?
Uh....no...that's not it, sparky. I suggest that if you find yourself continually owned by DragonBone that you focus on learning movement, timing and strategy. Seriously, that sword hits hard, but it's not the worst in the game and it is PAINFULLY slow. Learn to make them miss, and then PUNISH them for trying it on you! ;)

Hey, just a hint...you might want to go to Dark Souls 3 next. Dark Souls remaster is NOT a 'remake' like this was. It still has all the jankiness of the original and that MIGHT frustrate you. Dark Souls 3 is much more polished and more like Demon's Souls except for being way bigger. Just an FYI.

Quoting myself for others; you need to kill one Primeval Demon (in black world Tendecy) to get his soul and then you can buy the last miracle. No matter how many Colorless souls you have you need ONE from the demon to unlock It.

I played DS1 right after beating Bloodborne back in 2015. My first proper souls game and man it was janky even on PC with the DSfix at 60 fps. It's a great game and perhaps even a classic but it has so many bad levels lol. Everyone hates blighttown, but i hated the level thats pitch black so much more. I also hated Sens Fortress on my first playthrough because of all the damn environmental traps. Anor Londo is amazing, but those damn archers made me rage quit the game so many times. The lack of shortcuts in some of the levels, especially the one where you go down to the ghost area and fight the kings was really really lame.

That said, a full blown remake that fixes those issues would probably make it a lot more fun like DS3. Blighttown is actually a great level when you can see whats going on, and other areas with some shortcuts wont be too bad.

DS3 was easily my favorite until i played Demon Souls. It has no bad levels and a lot of great levels and boss fights.
