Deserved Sequels Next-Gen

so yeah, this thread really is just all about game worlds that you think really deserve to be fully realized with the power of the up coming next gen systems. games that aren't likely to get a sequel, but if done right on the up coming hardware, can perhaps even get a chance to shine really big....

Shenmue - well, i gotta say, imagine the scope of a 3rd or 4th gen Shenmue. i think that alone really speaks for itself. a game were AM2 (or perhaps digital rex) just created a full blown living city, and i don't mean a city connected by bus rides like the other games. but literally, one massive city that has nothings but ins & outs, public transportation, alleys, random balconys, sewer system. EVERYTHING.
have them just throw you into it, and that's it. the game starts, no clues or hints to start off with. just get your shit done, and take it from there.

Snatcher - c'mon, if you can't see the potential for this one. you lose. Revolution controller i feel, would be a turbo perfect match for this one as well. more so than the DS would.

i'll do more later.

oh, and i wanted to say rez as well, but really, that's just something i wouldn't mind (i'd like to obviously) seeing a sequel to, but really, UGA nailed it in every way the first time around.

I can imagine a NiGHTS game with the Revolution controller, but you'd probably look like a fairy playing it...

Killer7.

Man, I really enjoyed that wild ride.

Rarely do you get to play a game that is a true psychological thriller, with such a convoluted and complex plot, with some insane, whacky characters.

Grasshopper created some unique character with this game, and created a world that was very similiar to ours, yet totally off the wall. It would be a shame to let all that die.

Gimmie my Killer9!
It would be totally perfect for the nunchuck Rev controller too!
Walk third person with left stick, and fire away with the FPS remote for the shooting sequences.

Turbo perfect? :lol

P.N.03... The game had so much potential but ended up feeling really rushed in the end. If Capcom invested more time and effort into a sequel, it could very well end up being a killer franchise.

I'd like to console Sim City sequel in the spirit of the original SuperFami game.

I was just playing it the other night and although it is very crude by today's standards, especially when I have Sim City 4 for my PC, it had a kind of whimsy and fun about it and the soundtrack was excellent.

The Thing

It had alot of potential, didn't deliver on everything. I really really enjoyed it though, very underated imo. I'd love a next gen sequel, as long as they keep it 3rd person and don't make it another mindless fps.

The Inredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction

On a next gen physics engine, more bosses and objectives, larger scale map, and a bigger palette for destructable items = damn good time.

Another Psychonauts is all I want.

I thought about listing this, but I'd rather see Doublefine doing something else. There's too much creativity that would be lost with a sequel.

Sega

Virtual On: A true sequel to Oratorio Tangram is long overdue... I would like to see a sequel to the game just as a fan.

Shenmue 3: This game needs to be released... just for closure. I dont care if this game takes a billion dollars to make... sega just need to make it happen. Release the damn game already so the story can be concluded.

Panzer Dragoon: The game was one of the best titles for the Xbox and sold very well compared to the previous versions. I would love to see another game be made

Jet Set Radio: This is a game that would be sweet if it were brought back next gen. Can you imagine what Sega would do withe the cel shading in this game? It would probably be a masterpiece or something... and there is alot of possibilities with online play. Aside from online co-op and your normal head to head matches Imagine creating your own crew and challenging other crews to dominate certain territories.

Nights: Probably wont happen... but here's hoping... i truely didnt know what was the point of the game... but I had fun playing it.

Burning Rangers: Another game that will probably never happen... but it was fun.

Capcom:

BRING BACK THE FIGHTERS

Powerstone 3: This is a game that is a great multiplayer game. Considering the push for online gaming next gen a sequel to this game would be great.

Street Fighter 4: The street fighter series is the reason fighting games even exist today. The way capcom is releasing half ass fighters is sad and I hope it's a front to have more time to produce SF4 with the sort of revolutionary leap SF2 had. I know many SF fans will disagree with me on this but I think the series needs to make a permenent leap to 3D with a new cast of characters and a couple of returning characters.

Ryu = Street Fighter 1
Chun Li = Sreet Fighter 2
Alex = Street Fighter 3

Rival Schools: Another Capcom fighter that needs to make a new appearance on next gen consoles. Visually... cel shading will make this game shine as it is a light hearted fighting game heavily based on an anime like style. Capcom can appease SF Fans by having characters like Sakura, Karin, Yun, Elena, and Ibuki could have their own teams.

Darkstalkers: The final game to make the circle of fighting games complete. Capcom should create a new darkstalkers game... in 2D... high res 2D because lord knows the darkstalker sprites needs to be retouched.

Strider: come on... this game is long overdue.

Midway:

Ready 2 Rumble: With Midway shifting their focus away from simulations like EA maybe now Midway will realize they have a gem with Ready 2 Rumble. If they created a series of games like "ready 2 rumble boxing", "ready 2 rumble wrestling", "ready 2 rumble ultimate fighting" it could be a great alternative for people looking for pure arcade like fun.

Thunder Series: Offroad Thunder, Artic Thunber, Hydro Thunder... 3 great arcade racers... bring them back midway.

SNK Playmore:

Ikari Warriors: no explanation needed... bring this game back

Last Blade: 1 & 2 are underground classics... release a LB 3... for the fans.

Fatal Fury: MOTW is one of the top 5 fighters of all time and a sequel is so necessary at this point and time... but i wonder. If they take the 2D route will it get the "neowave" treatment? because if so... save it.

and what if they take a 3D route? considering what KOF: MI turned out to be... save that as well... I would like for the game to take the 3D route just for the exposure... i hope that SNK is learning from their 3D fighters... seeing what they are doing right and wrong... in the long run they will take their other fighters 3D and i dont want to see "Samurai Shodown: Maximum Impact" and destroy the good name of their franchises.

Konami:

Contra: Neo Contra was cool... i hope they contiinue to build and refine it.

Namco:

Klonoa: A very fun platformer that needs to come back... and here's hoping that the game is fully cel shaded (if you havent noticed by now... I am a fan of cel shading)

Nintendo:

hmmm... cant really think of anything since nintendo always creates sequels to their games. a next gen excitebike would be good... but on the rev controller... meh... maybe not.

... i will add more.

I'd love to see a next-gen Gex title. This one's been sittin' in the corner since the PS1 days if my memory serves right, so I'm kinda goin back a bit. A new Soul Reaver title wouldn't be bad either since I'm thinking about Crystal Dynamics titles.

Throw NIGHTS and Streets of Rage in there too.

Phantom Dust would be amazing with next gen technology.

It already looks fantastic on the Xbox. The animation, the effects, the characters, the destructible environments.

Give it some more Western-looking characters/themes and it would sell too. I would buy the game regardless.

There has to be some developer who thought the concept behind Phantom Dust was a good idea. When I think of collapsing an entire platform under my enemy's feet, or flying 50 feet in the air to sling beams at someone, I know there's so much more that can be done with an action and/or combat game.

I always thought Gex 2 was a great game. I would like to see that revived, but it's highly unlikely.

I would really, really love to see a Banjo-Kazooie sequel. I keep hearing it's in development, but we've been hearing that since MS bought Rare. I wish there was some concrete evidence it's coming.

ZOE, Crystalis; Freespace; TOTAL ANNIHILATION; Bushido Blade

ZOE will probably get a sequel, but the rest don't have a chance.
