Deserved Sequels Next-Gen

Parasite Eve. Needs a sequel that's a mix between the two existing games. I'm hoping that the only reason we haven't seen PE3 this gen is because Square Enix couldn't do it justice with PS2 realtime graphics. Yeah right. :lol :(

Beyond Good & Evil. Wouldn't really have needed a sequel if the cliffhanger hadn't been there. But now it is, and I'd like to see a BGE 2 that's not as rushed and doesn't feature a jerky framerate.

Shadow of Destiny/Memories 2. One of the few early PS2 titles that still manages to hold up well. Throw in a new cast and setting and you're good to go, Konami.

Final Fantasy Tactics. Get Matsuno back to doing what he does best. Either that or Vagrant Story 2.

I'd like to see something set in Sega's Gun Valkyrie world even though I found the play mechanics of the Xbox game to be dull - I love that Victorian hi-tech type setting - some sweet 3D graphics and some enemies that are similar to the suits you played in from the first game would be sweet.

Or someone could make a new version of Bitmap Bros' Chaos Engine.

Also, a new Metrocross - NOT IN 3D.

I imagine that could be quite a fun game with a persistant online-world.

So many games... where to start?

Panzer Dragoon Saga or Orta or both.
Shenmue
Gladius
Psychonauts
Azurik - maybe I'm the only one here that liked the game. I'd love to see a sequel.
Quantum Redshift with online play.
Galleon
Second Sight
Advent Rising - Demi and me am cry.
Beyond Good & Evil
Rayman
Zelda The Wind Waker
Eternal Darkness

A bit older ones:
F355 Challenge
Crazy Taxi - but a back to the roots one
Wonderboy
Phantasy Star
Turrican

I want to see a Metal Gear Liquid, explaining the backstory of Liquid Snake. Even better, a Metal Gear Solidus, explaining the backstory of Solidus (and Raiden), because we know basically dick about Solidus's background.

Sure, President Sears and all that, but we know nothing before that.

Command & Conquer. Not Red Alert, Not Generals. Command & Conquer. And it needs to go back to the original structure of the game where you can choose the mission you want to take on.

I always think these threads will be so exciting, and then they turn out like every other fucking list thread. YOUR LIST OF TITLES OR HOTLINKED IMAGES TELL ME NOTHING.

Why should any of these games get sequels? What would happen in them? What could a sequel do that the original game couldn't and would make the new title just as important? If you think about it, was what made the original game great the fact that it was fresh, and new, and perhaps a sequel could never be that good again (even if it seems the game is crying out for it - I'm looking at you, Vagrant Story)? If it's a game that's actually been gone longer than the last Sega console, what has the industry forgotten that it could return? Why does it matter?

In no particular order,

Kid Icarus
Punch-Out!
Zork
Tex Murphy
Chronicles of Riddick
Gabriel Knight
P.N. 03
Beyond Good & Evil
Grim Fandango
Eternal Darkness
Sphinx & the Cursed Mummy
Killer 7
Planescape: Torment
Splatterhouse
