Just ordered the physical edition of Amazon for £41 (thanks to the £5 off above £40 promotion). Looking forward to getting into this!

EDIT: Any tips for a literal first-timer? The only Destiny I've played is ten minutes of the demo back in 2014.
 
I've got the Exotic quest "Await the World Eater" which is assumed to be related to the raid. Any news if you have to beat the raid to move on, or do you just have to participate. Has anyone moved on to the next step?
 
Someone I was raiding with last night was using Merciless. I'd never used it before until then. Man I've been missing out.

What are some good guns I should check out? PvE and PvP recs pls.

I dig that Midnight scout rifle that does a small AoE for PvE. For PvP, Uriel's Gift is legit. I'm also running the Vigilance Wing exotic if I don't use the MIDA Multi-Tool in PvP.

I find the MIDA Mini-Tool to be good in both pve and pvp, but I think I can find better cqc weapons pvp wise.

I take back what I said about hard passing on the raid. I'll do it. But only for the shader.

There is a guide in the OP. But this is a summary.

- After level 20. Before you hit Light Level 259. Only do the following:
- Public Events.
- Adventures
- Loot Caves
- Other open world activities that earn you tokens.
- Do NOT spend any tokens until you hit 259.
- Use blue drops from all those activities to increase your light level based on gear
- Do not worry about the bar. It just gives you bright engram which only gives you cosmetic gear that you otherwise have to spend money for.

After you hit level 259:
-Turn in all your tokens. You should have around 200 by now.
- Cant rely on blues after 259 so you have to save your tokens for legendary weapons.
- Should hit 265. 259-265 grind is real so be sure to save at least 150 tokens for this step.
- If you dont have enough to hit 265, run some strikes. or get Cayde's chests. Buy a map from him.

After you hit level 265:
- Now do milestones that appear on the destination menu when you press L2.
- Also do the Blue missions on each planet.
- Run Some strikes to get the nightfall quest
- Buy bonus xp tokens from eververse using bright dust to increase a chance for exotic engrams.

Turned in all my tokens as I got them to help me get from 200-265. It wasn't much of a grind at all.
 
Question - should I be doing the Adventures/Lost Sector/Side stuff as I'm going through the campaign, or is it fine to do them after the main story missions? The "rare gear" rewards will scale right?

So far I've done a couple of the side missions, but I've mostly stuck to the main story. Still a ton of stuff left on Nessus before I left to Io (which is where I left off last night).

I'm still in shock in over how quick the campaign was, did people enjoy it? The story was so, so bad, there was like one or two boss fights, nothing really happened at all:3

I thought it was ok but didn't like the ending. To me it's about the same length as D1. Anything is better than the D1 story.
 
By the end of the story The Traveler
has awoken. Or at least that's what we're told... And people in the tower can't stop yammering on about it.

Alright. Fine. But what does that mean?
Has anyone gone to ...you know speak to it yet or give it some coffee?

More over... If the Traveler is awake, why are all the ghosts and guardians still alive? I thought it sacrificed itself to create the ghosts? If it's awake, why would it have need for them any more? Why give the Guardians that aren't me their light back?

It's getting a pass because destiny 1 had the worst story if any game of all time but yeah it was meh. That last encounter was a complete joke and totally anticlimatic.
 
got them Lunafaction boots this morning. Never played a Warlock in D1, and I'm really liking this class. Between arc soul and the rifts, it makes the warlock a great team support class which is what I enjoyed about the Titan in D1.
 
Only had 4 people online and raid-capable in our tiny clan, was able to 4 man the first part of the raid last night, felt awesome. We were hard stopped by the next part due to stupid
5 pressure plates required to start the next part.

We did it totally blind, nothing like that feeling when finally getting it done the first time. I got shaders, an engram, and an emblem I think.

I beat the Nightfall last night a few times, this one is way easier than the week 1 one, but I've still come up a minute or two behind enough time to get rat king quest done. I just arrived to work so I have 8 hours to go, but I'd like to try again tonight.

Anyone else planning to try to finish the quest tonight?

Nah, Calus seems like a pretty decent guy compared to Trump. Calus just wants to have fun. We're the bad guys in the Leviathan raid.

First we go shoot up his bath house where dudes are just chilling out and relaxing.

Then we kill his pet dogs.

Then he gives us a second chance by putting us on a game show to show there's no hard feelings.

And after all of his generosity and forgiveness we go and spill his drink out of spite. We're literally the worst people.

I'd be up for this. I have another friend (also GAF) who will also most likely be up for it. I'm a 290 titan, if such things matter.

Are they bad at shooters or are they bad at understanding stuff? The enemies are really easy inside of the raid as long as you use abilities right and make sure to go for precision damage. The hard part is communicating and understanding what you're supposed to be doing.

They are good at staying stationary shooting stuff. Split second decision making, jumping and spatial awareness, not so much.
 
Just got a 272 engram from Hawthorne that gave me a level 15 power 10 legendary rocket launcher sins of the past... Weird... Maybe I will keep it and try to level it up cause it's stats are pretty cool...

Which is what most should be doing if they want to increase their power level.

I think some people forget that once you acquire an exotic, you can re-purchase it from your collections tab inside the vault. Probably a mistake on Bungie for not surfacing it correctly. You should be infusing most exotics into other weapons/armor, save for the ones that you actually want to use. The MIDA and Sturm should be infused into a primary scout and secondary hand cannon if you want massive increases in power level.

Oh boy. Err... You MIGHT get past the first encounter if you can get them to learn where to run.

Everything else you have no chance. Theres a heavy platforming encounter and an encounter that really relies on spatial awareness.

Jebus, Mida is too fucking good in crucible. Way too fucking good. The best part is that Mida is never OP in the first place, just solid all rounder weapon. I like D2 crucible where my gunskill matters. I been fucked by supers/grenades/secondaries waaay too many times in D1.
 
So you are required to be at 280 power to do the raid?
Then underneath it tells me recommended power is 270.
Game gets more confusing to me by the day. Haha

Are you looking at the Guided Games icon? The normal raid activity is above to the left of it. I got confused as well.

that's the problem with Mida in PVP. It's playing at D1 levels in a D2 environment, making it the best gun to use.
