ah. so if I was to get one i guess i would get a notification though GEForce Experience? Cause I don't even see the option to link my battle.net account.

You're not going to be given a beta key through GFE. You get your hands on an Nvidia key, redeem it via GFE, and then the game is added to your account. If you're asking about the open beta, that'll presumably just be added to the Battle.net client for everybody, similar to how Blizzard's games are displayed regardless of whether you own them or, to put it another way, exactly like Free Weekends on Steam.

Edit: Oops, disregard. See here.

has always been the case. you put in the code you get from the retailer and on the bungie site it lets you pick whatever platform you want. you could use a code from a PS4 order and use it to get into the PC beta.
It let you select PC, but wouldn't give you a key before. Would give you a message saying that "PC codes will be given to retailers/partners at a later date" or something along those lines.

Looks like the pre-load is raw data minus the executable. I wish Valve would at least offer publishers the option of that for Steam pre-loads.

And... that's exactly what I'm saying. so... lol.

No, what you said was:

FYI, if you have a console version preorder key (and you never selected a platform on bungie.net) it'll work for getting a PC beta key now.

and I said that this was always the case and that it hasn't only just started "now". To which you replied:

The code we only got recently from Bungie was the code to input into Battle.net which is different from the code you'd get from a retailer to put into the Bungie site. You could get a code from, for example, Amazon for preordering the PS4 version and put it into your Bungie account and select the PC, PS4 or XB1 version to get a code for the respective store. Bungie only recently only started giving out codes to put into Battle.net.

Nvidia gave out beta keys through GFE I think is what they are referring to.

E:

To celebrate Gamescom, NVIDIA will be giving some lucky GeForce Experience members a code for 24 hours Early Access to the Destiny 2 PC Beta!

Recipients will be informed via a notification within the GeForce Experience client on August 25.

I preordered the PS4 version off of Amazon for the PS4 beta but I also preordered on Blizzard for the actual version I plan on playing. Can I only participate in 1 Beta? My code is not yet available but my other codes include the PS4 one. Am I screwed?

EDIT: Issued solved via Blizz Online Chat Support.

So basically you misunderstood what I meant by PC beta key (as in the code for Battle.net) gotcha.

but by then it will have been released....

so again..why should they let you install files early that you didn't pay for?

No one paid for the beta. You paid for the game which doesn't release in 2 months. Not even sure why I'm arguing about this, I preordered and will pre-load anyway.

But plenty of MMO games (wow included) let you download the client regardless of whether you buy the game. You just cant log in until you do. I see zero reason why D2 can't do the same.

It shows up in your library no matter what.

Ah, right. In that case, the lack of a pre-load is weird considering the open beta is a sure thing. Maybe those who haven't pre-ordered will be allowed to pre-load tomorrow or so, once the initial rush is over.

Because I want to play the beta to see how it performs and would like to be ready to play when in opens up for non-preorder players? That doesn't seem that crazy of a request.

It's feature, not bug. BattleNet client shows every game no matter if you owned it or not.

That marketing without pushing too hard.

Well, it's hard to know that since I bought every Blizzard product that is on that launcher, lol.

Hopefully.

I'm surprised they didn't just give us the executable too, considering the game is always online and you can't get past the main menu unless the servers are up.

That's not bad at all.

Might not need to wait for a sale after all.

Yeah I was going to wait till after I tried the beta but the deal ends the day before and I couldn't pass it up. You get the highest tier for ten dollars less than the second tier with this deal. No brainer.

can anyone confirm if they send keys instantly?

these days I typically only go with GMG for Capcom stuff since they always send keys right away for those games.

For the beta Yes. I bought mine just now and am already preloading. The code for the game itself gets sent a few days before release.

Rhaknar

The Steam equivalent of the drunk friend who keeps offering to pay your tab all night.
so you cant pre-load if you havent pre ordered? >_>
