How come the game can't do borderless windowed properly?

Even if i set it to 1080p windowed borderless it becomes a small window that doesn't take up my whole screen.

Edit: Oh because I'm dumb lol. Or rather it's not the same as I'm used to. Windowed Fullscreen is what I normally think of as borderless windowed fullscreen. I thought windowed fullscreen would put it in a window. nvm!

Have you tried setting the pc to 2160p in the nvidia settings and downscaling to 1440p in game using the resolution scaler? It should work in HDR, at least on driver 378.92, since it works fine in mass effect. have not tried it in destiny though.

These are mine -

Only problem is 1440p comes out a mix of green and purple. 4:2:2 doesn't seem to work in 1440p. But it gives me 10bpc which is correct for HDR10. With a Samsung TV. I also choose this as RGB doesn't allow me to have Game Mode on my TV.

4670k is a BEAST

I have a 4670k and it's definitely low on my upgrade priority list. New vid card and monitor are really all I need at this point to maximize my shit.

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
I'm pretty sure it is the detection level or having custom D3D support enabled. App detection should be set to Low and custom D3D support should be turned off.

Yeah, I recall you mentioning that earlier (well, yesterday now), but neither cause trouble for me:

I had the same issue, let me try that! lol

On that driver at least you dont need to mess around with the NVCP color settings since it shifts automatically to the correct color space when in fullscreen and HDR. I just keep it at RGB full in the settings (resolution set to native: 2160p/60hz) and I get a correct HDR image.

Interesting!

So I think my problem is two fold. The first is that I can't actually get 4K to show up in the resolution list, so I've been using 1440p, which gives me the exact purpleish screen you're talking about. Does that mean HDR doesn't function in 1440p?

Maybe I need to run in 4K (and solve that issue first) and then just drop the res scale slider down to 70% (roughly 1440p).

Is there a definitive solution yet for people not seeing 4K as an option? I saw unplug a second display, but my PC is going straight through my pre amp to my TV, no second display, so i don't think that's my 4K issue....

This game actually runs so well that I'm having to choose between around a 100fps with shadows on medium and ssao on HDAO or putting them both on high for around 70 fps wirth drops to 60. nice.

Same. 4670k paired with a 290x so I really just want a new GPU.

The damn bitcoin miners fucked me this year.

anybody try on a 1050ti + i3?

I'm currently uploading a video of me playing on a PC with a core i5 4460, 8gb DDR3 and a GTX1050 2gb, not even the ti version.

It's the cheapest PC i could build at work, works extremely well, most mid-high settings at 1080p almost locked 60fps.

Every time I try to move in the first mission it crashes my entire computer. Both monitors go black and the audio keeps playing or will glitch out.

GTX 670
AMD FX 8150

only way out is to restart the entire computer

HDR works perfectly in Destiny 2 using nvidia driver 378.92 (same driver that gets both HDR10 and DV to work in mass effect). You just need to toggle HDR on in game (just like before creators update) and it works. You dont need to mess around in windows. I get a really bright and vidid image on my b6 oled, even through I use HDR game mode which is too dim in some games.

Oh I know, I mentioned that HDR used to work just fine. However, I don't want to resort to older drivers. It's something that used to work, so they should be able to get it working again.

3930k @ 4.5 w/ Dual Titan XM's
All maxed @1440p with dof at high and aa at smaa.
Was pretty much over 100fps like 90% of the time. Mostly the co-op part of the campaign mission was below 100 sitting in the mid 90's. Not bad for this old thing.

Game runs pretty well until it crashes. Can't even get passed the intro missions because I lose all progress when I reboot the game after a crash. Replaying the same missions over and over again certainly does feel like Destiny though...

i thought HDR was fine in 378.92, broke the NV drivers after that, and then the ones after that is was fixed.

As in, if you're on the most current NV drivers, HDR should work fine?

From my experience of HDR gaming on pc on a B6 oled (RE7 and ME:A), HDR only works when the resolution is set to either 1080p or the native res (2160p) in the nvidia settings. If I want to get 1440p in game or anything similar and get a correct HDR screen without strange colours, I need to use the in game resolution slider (in the case of 1440p dropping the slider to 65% will give you 1404p). It should work for u as well, at least on the 378.92 nvidia driver.

Right.

I just need to figure out how to get 4K to show up as an option first....

This runs so much better than I thought it would on my poverty PC.

It dip in crazy fights but it's usually around 60-50 with med-low settings at 1080p and that's way better than I thought I was going to get.

GTX 650ti

4gb of ram

i3-3220

I wasn't even expecting it to start up tbh

Ah, that's what I was running into then. I couldn't get 4K to display as an option for Destiny 2 and I was trying HDR with resolutions above 1080p. Now I have something to work with.

All complaining aside, how is the HDR implementation for Destiny 2?

I'm using the latest nvidia drivers at 4k

HDR works if i use default nvidia color settings in all games except for mass effect

HDR doesn't work if i choose rgb full 8 bit.

To be honest, aside from Destiny 2, I have not tried HDR in any other game with current drivers. In 378.92, HDR worked as it would on the PS4. (You could set your output to be RGB/Full, and when you toggled HDR in-game, it would just send that flag to your display.)

After the Creator's Update + Nvidia updates, that functionality broke, and you had to manually engage HDR in Windows after changing your color output in the NVIDIA Control Panel. I'm not entirely sure where we stand right now.

Ideally, HDR should work as it used to in 378.92.

Wow this games runs really well on my budget build.

Pentium G4620 3.7 GHz

Nvidia 1060 6GB

8GB 2400-DDR4 RAM

I ran the game with the highest settings except SMAA instead of MSAA and am getting mostly solid 60FPS at 1080p. The only time the framemeister dropped was during the canal siege with Zavala in the opening story mission were it dropped to 30fps whenever one of the pods fell to deploy more troops. Gonna try out the strike next and see how it holds up but I think if I lowered a couple settings to hight I can get a rock solid 60fps.

I'm using a GeForce 760, i5-2500K CPU, 8 GB RAM. On the "Low" settings, I'm getting between 45-70. Not terrible, but I'd like it to be more consistent, if not overall better.

What's my cheapest option re: upgrading?

Runs at a perfect 60fps at 1080p with everything except AA on max and AA on SMAA.

i7 2600k, 16gb ram, GTX 970.

Now if only I could get RTSS working.

Wait, sorry to be dense, but can you explain that a bit more? Do I need to change my Windows resolution and/or nVidia settings to get HDR and 1440p to work together (on a 4K set)? Right now, as you said, HDR only works with 1080p and 2160p. It doesn't go fullscreen with HDR and 1440p.

Hm, okay. What is the behavior when you do run with those settings?

No setting has any effect on Destiny 2. I deleted all profiles except global and still every game other than it works.

I provided screenshots of my settings in rivatuner as well as the contents of my entire task manager to JaseC and in the end we didn't know why it wasn't working.

Hey do you still have that shot of the task manager? Or is it posted earlier in the thread somewhere?

I can report I'm experiencing this same behavior on my Sony x850c. HDR works at 1080p but if I switch to 1440p the tv switches back to game mode and my colors are all blown out.

So I'm playing at 1080 with about 125% render scale and this looks good enough for me.

Runs prettay good on my 280X, it's not locked at 60fps, but whatever. It doesn't really look good to be honest though. Anyway, it locked up after the intro mission heh. :p

3570k no OC

Strix 1070 no OC

1080p all high, solid 120Hz no slowdowns nor hiccups whatsoever.
I promised myself not to buy it after getting burnt with D1 but first impression is very good.

Damn.

Have you tried to alt+tab out of the game and manually enable the RTSS OSD after loading your character? It wouldn't work for me until I did just that.

Yeah rivatuner wont work for me either regardless what I change or how/when I enable the overlay.

My specs:
GTX 1080
i5-4690K (stock)
16GB RAM
144Hz 1440p G-sync monitor

Ran super smooth for me at 1440p with everything maxed except for depth of field (high) and antialiasing (SMAA). Framerate never went below 60 during the hectic moments and it felt great to play. I couldn't get RTSS to work though, despite having my settings exactly as others here have shown.

It's certainly very pretty!

Alright guys, I wake up and it's letting me play now without crashing! I got through the intro.

The only thing I did differently was set RTSS application detection level to low. So it was either that or there was a hotfix last night.

Either way, I'm in!

Now if they could just get C+M working that would be great. I can already feel pain inbetween my shoulder blades trying to use wasd.

I'm only running on high settings atm. I didn't change anything from last night yet. I'll try setting it to very high and see if it's still stable. I really want to get rid of this awful aliasing.

i5-4440
GTX 1060 6GB
8gb RAM

I get a stable 60fps on Highest settings with FXAA at 1080p but am wondering if I'd get a cleaner image without loss by upping my render scale and foregoing AA. High and Highest don't seem like much of a difference so I'm tempted to turn off AA and render the game on High at 150%. Will test it out when I get home and come back with results, but right now the game runs very smoothly on my midrange rig, even at high settings and during intensive combat (god, the particle effects are so good.)
I tested this for quite a while yesterday and what I found was that 150% is fine for the 1060 on average, but I definitely saw some drops into the 50s at times, especially during the story mission at the section with Zavala making the bubble shields, with the infinitely respawning enemy drop pods and missile strikes. That area can also be very taxing on the CPU (at least it was on my overclocked 2550k) but MSI Afterburner was showing 99-100% GPU usage in that scene with render scale at 150%, so I think that means I was still GPU limited.

I made a post earlier showing what settings I used to maintain a stable framerate at 135% render scale, if you're interested:
A lot of those Highest settings aren't worth it, I think most people would be better off dropping them and upping the render scale to combat the horrendous aliasing.

I was able to set the render scale to 135% on a GTX 1060, and hold a an very stable 60 fps with these settings:

The result, a very clean image for a mid-range card:

Edit: Forgot to mention that my base resolution is 1080p, and FOV is at the highest setting, 105.

It's "class ability" on PC. IIRC it is default V keybind, but I could be wrong.

Having the Warlock twilight garrison and hunter dodge bound to one button is pretty great. Wish we had that year 1 with shadestep.
This is incorrect, the Warlock class ability is the Healing or Empowering Rifts. You need to use the "Air Move" key binding to perform the Icarus Dash, which is bound to X by default. Although, I actually haven't tried using the class ability key binding while in the air, it would be nice if that also worked because I'm pretty sure you can't activate your rifts in mid-air anyways.

X is also a really awful default binding for it. Any type of dodge, evade, or dash should not require you to take your fingers off of WASD.

That did the trick, that you. :)
You're welcome. :)
