Destiny 2 PC performance thread

I'm pretty sure it is the detection level or having custom D3D support enabled. App detection should be set to Low and custom D3D support should be turned off.

I ran into problems in the past if my Afterburner version wasn't on the latest beta. Make sure it's up to date. I just played this earlier with the afterburner overlay working fine.

i5-6500 3.2 GHZ
8 GB of DDR4 RAM
MSI RX480 GAMING X 8GB

All running on the highest settings with the FOV set to 105 and still getting a rock solid 60FPS at 1080p. This is like night and day compared to the PS4 version.

Just need to get used to K+M because I've been playing on a controller all my life.

Afterburner 4.4.0 beta 12
RTSS 7.0.0 beta 26

Apologies if you've said before - what OS and are you running afterburner as admin? And I mean right-click run as administrator or set it in the launch properties, not just "oh I'm admin of my computer."

I can report I'm experiencing this same behavior on my Sony x850c. HDR works at 1080p but if I switch to 1440p the tv switches back to game mode and my colors are all blown out.

So I'm playing at 1080 with about 125% render scale and this looks good enough for me.

I experimented a little with this and it seems that the performance drop is not linear with the IQ when using the slider. I suggest going 4k and then using the slider to drop the IQ as opposed to the other way around. Seems to be due to the upscaler?

I'm having so much trouble downloading the beta, It just keeps on saying initializing. I'm about 15% downloaded and it refuses to download anymore.

980ti
4770k
16gb of RAM

Getting flawless 60fps at 1080 with everything maxed out and FOV at 100. To say I'm impressed with how good this version of the game plays is putting it mildly

Hm I'll try that but given that I'm only on a gtx 1060 I'll have to scale it way back down lol.

Also I feel maybe I should clarify that I have played games exclusively on PC for 10 years and have used RTSS for many of those.

I know how to use it, I use it in every video game I play.

Hmm, so it stopped working for me. Amazing. Worked just fine earlier in the day. Did a patch drop before the open beta started?

In better news, while the fps limiter isn't available in the beta, the lead PC dev says it will be in the config file for release.

As long as it has good frame-pacing I won't care much about RTSS.

Couldn't get HDR working so I tried something else with my OLED. 1080p@120hz. Holyshit man.

I've tried 3rd person camera oriented games at 1080@120hz. Was nice. But Destiny 2 is the first FPS I've tried at these settings. I have to say, vysnc off coupled with the 0.1 ms response time of an OLED, pretty spectacular. The level of responsiveness on the controller was so good. Truly the first time I've felt controllers approach the analog precision of a mouse. Crazy.

Yupppppp

When I bought my C7 i started playing Overwatch at 1080p120 and actually prefer it to 4K60. It's just soooooo smooth.

So after trying to help Dec do some elimination testing, I went back and loaded up D2 and now I can't get RTSS to engage D2 either. I still had the installers for the same version I was running before checking stuff with Dec too and they don't work. Obviously it was working yesterday as the OSD is actually showing in my video from yesterday I uploaded.

Have they pushed any updates to the launcher since yesterday? I didn't record what the launcher version was.

6600K overclocked 22% (that was my mobo's suggestion)
1070
16 gigs
1440 g-sync 144 monitor

I've only played the first section, but following the suggestions in this thread of killing MSAA, turning down DoF to high, and making AO HDAO, I've had great results. Frequently over 100 fps, and when the shit hits the fan it still stays about 70. Game looks gorgeous and runs super smoothly.

I can't get over how good the shooting is. I said that when I played the first on PS4, and it's the same thing all over again. Can't wait for October 24th.

Probably been mentioned a fair few times but by far the biggest impact on performance for me has been the Depth of Field effect. Turning down from Highest to High boosted my fps by 25% or more. Been happily gaming at max settings (with High DoF) now at 80~100fps at 3440x1440 on an OC'd GTX 1080. Amazing to play. Brilliant Port.

Turned off Superfetch and made sure my power settings were on full performance. Maybe a slight improvement in the strike but still showing super high CPU usage. Dunno what the issue is at this point.

Ran some other really graphically intensive games (Witcher 3, Metro) and I had normal CPU usage and maxed out GPU usage so I guess it's a beta thing. Bummer.

Looks like Activision all right.

I keep crashing on the modular mind boss fight. 4/5 times at least. Nothing seems to work, feelsbad.

Anyone else having similar issues?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they've pushed an update between yesterday and today that has broken RTSS (and probably some other stuff). Hopefully not on purpose because their current FPS monitor sucks accuracy wise. I have GSync engaged on a 144hz monitor and it was regularly showing FPS in the high 150s.

sweet I should be set then with the
i3 6100
8gb ddr4
1050ti
ssd

Here's the video i mentioned earlier.

The specs are:
Intel core i5 4460 3.2ghz
8gb DDR3 ram 1600mhz Kingston.
Gigabyte GTX 1050 2GB. (Yes, that´s the non ti version)
Thermaltake TR2 500w power supply.
Western Digital 1TB hard drive.

Literally the lowest spec pc i could build with parts laying around at work, all recorded with shadowplay.

Man this is fucking weird.

If I bring up task manager to check CPU usage in the beta, it'll show 45-50%. However, as soon as I bring the game itself back to focus and the task manager in the background, the CPU usage for the game goes up to 100%. This shows up in the task manager performance over time graph.

I am so mystified about this. Tried fresh driver install, confirmed my CPU OC and voltage in the bios, disabled background services....no idea what to try next about this :/

Edit: Also, now my afterburner overlay doesn't work in the game. yaaay

how are people getting Afterburner to work?...I thought it wasn't supported?...I tried the latest beta (4.4.0) as well as the 4.3.0 version and neither work

What happens if you use borderless windowed or something instead of fullscreen? Does it do the same thing?

And yeah rtss stopped working for me too. Worked yesterday and just doesn't today.

An update was released about 90 minutes before the floodgates opened, but those screenshots I posted earlier in my reply to you were taken shortly before I posted (i.e. in the updated version of the game). As I said before, there's no discernible rhyme or reason why people are having varying levels of success with getting RTSS to work.

I'm really at a loss. Mine was working yesterday and not today.

pretty nice, have same cpu. this is not a cpu intensive game right? if not im pretty ok.

Well, I certainly don't deny the very distinct possibility the update is what broke compatibility in some cases, but even assuming that to be case, the situation isn't any clearer, haha. It's all very strange.

Basic settings (high): 57-125 FPS. It jumpy, but not noticeable ingame. Vync on = 60 steady.
